I remember this was like 1994 and this song and Jen Trynin's Better Than Nothing were two of my favorite radio tunes when I switched over to 106.3 (central jersey modern rock at the jersey shore, lol). I was going back and forth between early 90's hip hop and poppy guitar rock (still two of my favorite types). Also, I used to subscribe to Details magazine, and they'd send out compilation CDs all the time... pretty sure both Supernova and Better than Nothing were on one of them.

Lyrics: I have looked all over the place But you have got my favorite face Your eyelashes sparkle like gilded grass And your lips are sweet and slippery Like a cherub's bare wet ass 'Cause you're a human supernova A solar superman You're an angel with wings of fire A flying, giant friction blast You walk in clouds of glitter And the sun reflects your eyes And every time the wind blows I can smell you in the sky Your kisses are as wicked as an M-16 And you fuck like a volcano And you're everything to me 'Cause you're a human supernova A solar superman You're an angel with wings of fire A flying, giant friction blast 'Cause you're a human supernova A solar superman You're an angel with wings of fire A flying, giant friction blast

Unless you had call waiting. Then, you had to deal with the lost connection, wait until the end of the call, and attempt to reconnect. The initial dialup procedure took at least 30 seconds before you were "in" and could do anything. I can remember a 30 seconds video took about 15 minutes to download. Kids today couldn't live under those conditions.

She had a unique sound so different from what was going on. the critics focused on the lyrics and how "no woman has ever been so blunt about sex" or whatever (and whoa, the critics were always men, who knew?). But I honestly she created a new sound. i always thought they were really incredible pop songs disguised as rock with an edge. And i listen to these new women....Tone Lo or Sia or whoever.....Phair influenced SO MANY artists, male and female who started being aware of pop songs in a different form. I miss 93/94 so much. But Phair has survived, many have not. all love to her.

Haha..song has absolutely no sexual references or innuendo at all!! Amazing!!! Seriously I'm not kidding..the volcano reference is about zits the kisses references is about guys macho pride in muscles and how anyone can match it as long as they have a tongue to gag themselves with...the song is about her her her her...celebrities are known to be slyer than the wiser...aka LIE TO SELL RECORDS AND MAKE LEGENDS!!! People don't believe in anything at all...and yet they totally believe absolutely everything they DO NOT HEAR!!!

She literally did not inspire anyone...its all make believe...you know how many artists have never been exposed and yet theres tons of similar if not identical acts that are exposed? Its seriously almost a race of invention to create original music because of how limited the expression and message can be...this song us absolutely not what you promote at all...what has liz phair ever aspired to or achieved related to superman..men's health or rights..men's sexual liberation...or even womens...shes a lesbian...why..she can't liberate herself from her gender so sincerely she has to consume from it? Incest isnt legal and once upon a time lesbianism wasnt either...now suck my toe and let your brain turn back into jelly and stop acting all informed and formally casual about your narcissistic interpretations of ear born slaughterhouse floor scum.

Wasn't sure if it was liz phair or the group who did "cannonball" , so I youtubed it... Seriously sounds incredibly "90s alternative" (Q101ish if you're from Chicago, heh).
