They played their entire set. The lights did not come up. And then it was announced that Elastica would come out and play Stutter again for their video. It was June 4th, 1995 in Minneapolis. And, yes that is my arm if you pause the video at exactly 16.

Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Elastica and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily. And love, admiration and adoration.

Definitely fans of punk rock. And remember the accusations of plagiarism from bands like Wire or The Stranglers against Elastica. And "Stutter" also sounds like as if the band has used some riffs from Criminal Class, an early 80s punk/oi! band from Coventry.

Is there something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me, is it the way that I touch you? Have you found a new mate And is she really great? Is it just that I'm much too much for you? Oh, oh, oh ho Don't feed me a lie boy I can hear that voice you use upon the phone And there's no need to be coy That is something you can do upon your own Well, it isn't a problem Nothing we can't solve, so just relax Am I on the wrong train, love And will I have to tie you to the tracks? Is there something you lack When I'm flat on my back? Is there something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me, is it the way that I touch you? When I was a young lad in my mid 20s, I was in a bar band that had this song on our playlist, and at gigs where we’d play this song, as soon as the final guitar chord rang out, I’d start back up with the intro riff and we’d play the song all over again, because I’d always notice people in the crowd rockin’ out to it - and I didn’t want that to end… so I’d intentionally get the band to play it twice in one shot! I hadn’t thought about this song for almost 30 years, and it was killing me because it was such a good song and I didn’t know the lyrics… so after a good amount of googling… here I am!

It truly made my day to here this song on the radio yesterday. I grew up in the 90s and think Elastica was super underrated as Brit-pop bands go. Funny how the feeling a song gives us can change over time. This song first came out around when I was just starting to be romantically attracted to the opposite sex and it just sounded like a breakup song back then. Now that I am 40 and married it makes me recall the relationships I had in my teens and 20s and that sort of nervous second-guessing of yourself and self-examination that happens when it becomes clear a relationship is not going to last long-term. Like, what did I do wrong here?

[Verse 1] No need to whine, boy Like a windup toy you stutter at my feet And it's never the time, boy You've had too much wine to stumble up my street Well, it isn't a problem Nothing we can't keep between the sheets Tell me you're mine, love And I will not wait for other bedtime treats [Chorus] Is it something you lack When I'm flat on my back? Is it something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me is it the way that I touch you? Have you found a new mate And is she really great? Is it just that I'm much too much for you? Woah! [Verse 2] Don't feed me a line, boy I can hear that voice you use upon the phone And there's no need to be coy That is something you can do upon your own Well, it isn't a problem Nothing we can't solve so just relax Am I on the wrong train love? And will I have to tie you to the tracks? [Chorus] Is it something you lack When I'm flat on my back? Is it something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me is it the way that I touch you? Have you found a new mate And is she really great? Is it just that I'm much too much for you? Woah! I really want you to Woah! I really want you to Woah!

From the first time I heard Elastica I loved them. I was huge into the Modern Rock during the late 80's and early 90's! They had such an amazing sound. It also didn't hurt that little 12-13 year old me was practically in love with every woman in the band! Hell I didn't find out until yesterday that the lead singer had been part of the band Suede! I never got into them but I knew of them lol. There were so many amazing bands during this time but that was the problem. There were way to many bands and not enough fame to go around.
