Would need space for hundreds or thousands of them if there was no underground instead. Hope people wouldn't just tip them over and leave them somewhere for someone else to pick up like a Lime scooter! Do people still commute from the suburbs to the cities and back again like lemmings? With more people working from home, the last mile is becoming more like the last resort.

Something that is already in place in many cities, just with different vehicles. Here in Vancouver we have around 2500 Prius sharecars floating around the city, and it's usually not a long walk to find one. Smaller cars like this would be great to implement in a denser city like London.

Hit a 4” deep pothole like we suffer on any of our rural roads around where I live and I can just wince at the thought of the wheel in the hole left spinning in air as the bottom of the battery graunches along the road …. Just before the whole thing tips over. It was very noticeable how the car was driven by weaving all over the width of the roads to avoid speed bumps and relatively minor potholes. I like the idea in principle, but it looks like a total death trap if driven on roads shared with vans, trucks and buses.

Such things are not too difficult to add on via aftermarket supplies. Perfect platform for adding elements of luxury to. Let's face it, if you like good tunes, you want good audio solutions to convert away from dollar store grade audio. There is a market for upgrades, and all vehicle manufacturers should also offer choices in grade of components from the tires on up. I want adjustable suspension and will source it out, better audio, logical insulation so a heater wont have to drain the power, maybe a better grade of steering wheel, seat covering, laser cut 3M exterior protection film because it's better than not having it even if not travelling above the slow speed of the transaxle. Oh, even those transaxles can be upgraded should someone want it to go faster, but faster does mean more running costs, insurance for example.

7:10 - PTC = Positive Temperature Coefficient. It is a resistive heater in this electric car. The PTC aspect of it is a technical one: at first the heater will draw a high power. When the heater then heats up, its resistance will rise with temperature (therefore: positive coefficient: higher temperature higher resistance) and it will draw less power. This way, it regulates itself. It is the standard way to do simple air heaters like in a hairdryer. The unmarked switch may be for an accessory like seat heating or rear fog light. The A/C button is photoshopped out on the web site, so it is likely not functional on purpose. Still, you should have looked it up in the owners manual, that all products sold are required to be delivered with.

I'm not even sure if driving through the bollards is illegal. There's no signage indicating that you can't drive through there, it's just that most cars (even back in the 70s when these bollards were installed) would not be physically able to fit through.

That Smart ForTwo is ten years old. Apples to oranges. They're £16,420 new, and everyone knows that you take a hit once you drive out of a showroom, especially since its ten-year-old battery would cost another £6k to replace if it's near dead. You could buy another Dogood for that, or replace the battery in your old one since it would be a third of the cost since it's less than a third the capacity at 4.8Kw as opposed to 17.6Kw in the Smart ForTwo. Obviously used cars are better value, and you'd probably be lucky to get £1k for a ten year Dogood if they existed.

@@turbokadett You can't seem to comprehend that there's a difference between new and used. Those cars were £16,420 new. You'd pay up to £250k for a new Merc Maybach, but you can pick up a ten year old roller for under £39k. The RR badge has more cachée, and there's more legroom for you and your chauffeur. And you will probably be able to pick up a ten year old Doggod in future for £1k. That's heaps cheaper than the latest showroom price of a Smart Fortwo of £22,225. That's over 22 times the price for a smrt since we are allowed to compare today's new price to a ten year old car that's been stunk up by someone else.

Knowing that it's a $2.000 Alibaba car does take away from it but I will say that £6.000 is still quite intriguing. I'd take this for £6.000 over the €20.000+ Microlinos any day of the week. Price NEEDS to be the main selling point for microcars, I don't see myself paying a cent over €8.000 for 'not a car' no matter how it looks. I just want a road legal golf cart.

The real big issue with the cheapest new car in the UK is that is costs more than the best bargain second hand EVs in the UK. You can get a whole lot of Zoe for £5,000 in Autotrader. As I write there are 40 listed on Autotrader at £5,000 or less. For example, a 53,000 mile 22kwh 2015 Zoe Dynamique with battery lease for £3,499. Or a similar model with only 41,000 miles and no battery lease for £3,950. At the other end of the sub £5,000 market is the 23,400 mile 22kwh 2016 Zoe Expression with no battery lease for £5,000. You get the point. Unless you really need a very small car and never intend to drive out of town you're better off getting a second hand EV that looks like a car and not a Fisher Price reject. Councils have been pressured in some cases to use cameras instead of bollards to preserve through access for some types of vehicle (e.g. emergency vehicles, blue badge holders), but bollards are cheaper and quite frankly if someone wants to pass through on a moped or a microcar I don't really see a problem with that!

Put the steering wheel on the right and I'd already have bought one of those. What i do like is the fact that it avoids the trap of doing everything via a touch screen. For one thing you can't navigate a touch screen by muscle memory the way you do a set of stalks growing out of the steering column. What's worse is that high end eVs trend to change the menu layouts from time to time, without your permission. Its a worthy purchase. If you wanna dial in the luxury features afterwards, its a perfect platform of which to do so. All the fasteners seems accessible without too much effort. I wanna see shows demonstrating a complete tear down and reassembly, and that will take care of concerns about how to upgrade anything about such a vehicle. There's alot of ways to mod these, people wanna know how to, or be of no mystery of the process of ownership and repairs. All manufacturers should include a parts list including prices of each part, a list of factory options including prices of each of those too. This is how to protect the ecosystem, matching solutions to the people who want to be more responsible for their actions.

So much to like about this. A properly covered cabin, good windscreens and a properly economical price. I hope that the thing does not grow a whole lot of additional and un-necessary extras. Bare bones and economical is what is needed by so many people. I do wonder if instead of ULEZ the traffic controls in cities ought to have a charge for any vehicle weighing more than say 1,200 kg, and a multiplier for widths over 1.5 metres and length over 3.5, EV or not. ICE cars and light commercials are going to disappear in time, simply because they will become worn out, and too expensive to run for fuel and servicing. There is an element that refuses to see the opportunities in change, there is an awful lot of doom mongering about EVs. But smaller EVs must be one of the real counter arguments to this. I suppose the Microline will be the posh sub-mini EV and this will be an example of economy EV personal transport. Please don't call me cheap, but even as I adore the [for me aspirational] Microlino, sense would kick in and I'd definitely consider one of these at retirement in four and half years time. Till then I need a van so will still stick with my 2009 Berlingo. The electric Berlingo would make a good review for you, Jack! I'd enjoy watching that if you decided to try it out! I don't know why they bother with putting radio's in cars these days...they just need a place for plugging in a tablet or phone and a decent speaker. ..even things like the speedometer display could all be done by apps on your own phone or tablet so why not cut costs even more and not bother to instal any of the things.

Putting the speedo display in a removable device would probably need a change to legislation. The speedo is supposed to be part of the vehicle. Using the phone to control anything, even something about the vehicle would certainly break UK road law if done while moving, and possibly while sitting in the driving seat ...

@@truetech4158OK I will bite at that bait... but first let me congratulate you on a great choice of name, especially the first four letters...😊 Coming from someone whose country elected a would be dictator, one with a suitable number wanting him back in office after this years elections, your superiority is misplaced. And considering the influence of money in US elections doesn't give you a platform to diss the UK for historic abuses (which yes did exist). Both your major parties are running exactly the same Stockholm Syndrome scan that you mention. We sorted ours: you got rid of ours only to let something similar grow back over the two centuries since. We curtailed the power of our monarchy till they are just a figurehead, whereas your Supreme Court is enabling the rise to power off a leader who would be worse that King George III was. Your revolution was achieved with high ideals that have been betrayed, and are being betrayed right now, right up to the level of your Supreme Court. The UK is far from perfect, but there's a long way for it to go before we get to need to carry guns in order to feel safe, and UK the process for forcing a dishonest politico to resign is a lot faster than the way that after over the years Trump has yet to be tried for his attempted usurping of that constitution you're so proud of. And our MP's will vote against people from their own party when caught breaking the rules, unlike the mindless loyalty the GOP showed Trump.
