That was brutally honest, I can respect that.

No pan roof or auto wipers? Strange, as they are standard fit equipment. I agree the infotainment is not the best in class, especially for the money but it is not as dire as people make out. It has Apple Car play, which is frankly all you need. It also has the usual slew of tech; adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring, lane assist, early brake alert, 360 cams etc. Over the last 6000 miles in my DBX the infotainment has been a breeze to use. I'm a similar age to you (I think) at 31 so I'm not an older generation who simply dismisses tech(perhaps ASton's usual customer base), I just don't believe more tech is better. Just look at the cars that now have seperate touchscreens forthe HVAC controls, horrible. The Urus comparison is interesting, as the Urus is a rebodied VAG car and nothing truly bespoke exists about it. However because it is a Lambo, hordes of people buy it simply for that, hence the wild pricing you are seeing. I'll echo the comments of another poster where they say people who buy these cars dont really care for the depriciation, I'd agree. Of course it would be nice for them to not lose money but what car doesn'y? The Urus market is in a bubble right now.

Spot on. And the auto wipers have two sensitivity settings, which I guess he also missed? Missing the pan roof (which, as you say, every DBX has) is less excusable; maybe a smaller peak on the baseball cap would have helped? ;-)

That was really honest. I drove one myself for 3 days and I was very disappointed. Not about the way it drove but about the infotainment system. It really didn't work......was not responsive and I found it quit boring. definitely not going to be my car.

So have they upgraded infotainment system as of August 2023? Tks

My neighbour bought one of these when they were launched, and I'm in totall agreement with you! I was shocked to see so little on a car that cost so much. Needless to say, he had numerous electrical issues with his, and after 9 months of ownership, he was completely fed up with having to take it back to be fixed, and handed the thing back!

Did the 707 fix any of the gripes you had? Like the old tech? Or will we have to wait til next model year or two?

707 has gotten rave reviews for its performance, ride and handling but the Tech is still the same however all the Aston range Is getting a major upgrade to its infotainment starting with the DB11 later this year. They have a deal today to only take old Merc tech but going forward what Merc has Aston will have

Not sure you tried here! I've done 12k miles in my DBX. Its a drivers car. I tried the Urus, DBX is better. And the DBX doesn't have Audi all over the underneath. It does have car play, and Aston Installations have fitted wireless charging and wireless car play for me. I am gutted at the depreciation, didn't see that coming must admit. But overall, the DBX is a belter.

Love the honest review! Aston has been hurting but DBX sales have been strong enough that they are getting enough $ to address these issues. In a nutshell, for this price, not nearly enough comfort features. I also hope they change the fiddley door handles and have them "motor" out like most other brands. The 707 is already a massive step in the right direction. The DBX is a make-or-break car for them.

I think the DBX is the nicest SUV on the road and so much fun to drive. It is really stunning in person. Do you think maybe someone at Aston just thinks and likes buttons better? It doesn't make sense they couldn't have a touch screen if they wanted it. I drive the DBX and it really doesn't bother me, I do sometime finds myself want to touch the screen but it is really not bad at all. You get used to it fast. It is the most fun to drive.

Really love this review, it’s brutally honest & my friends DBX has been exactly the same! It’s a real shame because the car looks and sounds lovely, I’d never buy an Urus because of how it looks & the whole image of it, but if you make £ off it, then you really can’t argue against it. Completely agree on the Merc infotainment point, I’m not quite sure what Aston were thinking when they signed that, but it needs to change. I have 0 interest in the AMG GT & new SL (something I never thought I’d say having a 190sl & 450sl in the family), so I think Merc just need to let Aston do their thing with current tech (though knowing Aston they’d still mess it up somewhat!).

I'm a massive Aston Martin Fan but I'd still rather save a massive wallop of money and get a F Pace Svr.

Why do Aston Martin insist on using the oldest infotainment they can possibly get.... I don't think a proprietary system would be such an astronomical budget, even Hyundai/kia infotainment are better than this...

The 2023 refresh cars will get state of the art tech from Siemens, Bosch and Mercedes as well as upgrades to the drive train and suspension. I look forward to see how that pans out.

The info tainment system SUCKs. But the drive is extraordinary. The look is fantastic. The gas mileage is ridiculas but I love it. I didn't like driving the Urus. Love driving my DBX everyday. It's the worlds most expensive commuter car.

Maybe its because im older, but most of the complaints about the lack of "modern" tech wouldnt bother me at all...most of them are just to comfort laziness anyway.

The Urus is possibly the ugliest SUV after the Bentaga. The DBX is beautiful, the infotainment system could be better but I actually like a switch not a touch screen which does something you don’t want when you go over a bump, not so with the old Merc system. I have only had mine for a few months and love it to bits!!

Glad someone finally came out and said it - Mercedes infotainment is rubbish and I cannot understand why Aston got into bed with them. Sure, they needed money and backing for various points they will never afford to do themselves, but I feel the AM driving ethos would have fitted better with, say, BMW if they felt they had no choice but to go Germany with the begging bowl.

Doesn’t matter what you think - you cannot afford to buy it or run it ! Your not the buyer they are targeting.

Not going to challenge your operational review, but your man-maths doesn’t stack up; the reason that Urus have appreciated in cost is down to supply restrictions (chip shortages/ wiring loom etc). For sure, if the market will support that price gouging then fair dues, but it’s not solely as a result of the DBX being an inferior product.

I'm in 100% agreement with you on this. I've always thought that Aston Martin designed beautiful cars, on the outside. On the inside, however, they've never got it right. They've stuck with those 4 buttons for years when they ought to have been dumped years ago, decorated the seats with absolutely horrible stitching and their pop up screens were a joke. At least now they've got rid of the glass ignition " key ". As I see it, the problem with AM is the company is seriously underfunded and place too much dependence on the Bond connection without which they'd sell even fewer cars. Good and honest video!

Therefore I keep my old Astons, which let me drive, not to be driven by a computer!

I promise you: that’s why the prices of youngtimers of the 90-ties (the best time for almost any brand) will skyrocket… the last „analog“ cars, but already with great comfort and out of a time, when brands wanted to create the best in build quality and not the cheapest, sold for astronomical prices…

Mercedes always holding back the current gear and motors that compete with their product (no 707 motor in the vantage as it would cannibalise their GTR). Aston should move on, AMG want to be a 4 cylinder company anyway. Should use their own V12 in vantage and DBX and TTV12 in their flagship models DBS/ top Spec Vantage and find a decent infotainment vendor. As an owner of a vantage i know how crap this part of the package is and always has been. they now have a decent gearbox just need infotainment to finish the offering

This was nothing to do with Mercedes but Aston Martin themselves. Aston could have used the previous Merc Tech from 2018. Aston Martin already said the challenge for them was not simply replacing a head-unit. “The car would need to be revised to work a whole new electrical architecture”. AM simply didn't want to do that for their SUV. So I don't see how Mercedes are to blame here!

The DBX is selling well for a new model for AML. In fact it sold better than the Bentayga did at launch. I prefer the Bentayga and respect your honest review of the DBX. Most other reviewers also comment on the ‘old school’ infotainment, but many prefer it - hence why Bentley stick with physical ac controls.

Why do you (and many other youtubers) feel you speak for everyone else ? Rest assured you do not. YOU may want all the tech and some enthusiasts such as myself may enjoy it too - but my experience tells me that my friends, siblings and parents on the whole hardly use any of it to its full potential, and indeed most of it isn't used at all. Indeed i know a few people considering a DBX as their next car and not one has been put off by it's tech or lack of. They want a car that looks good, drives nicely and is comfy - oh and reliable. The Bentayga is a great thing inside but outside is a different matter and even in facelift form is just too ugly personally I love the Urus but it's too in your face for many people and several people I know have said it feels a bit 'cheap' inside - especially compared to a DBX or Bentayga. Two last things - 1. we live in the UK. Apple car play is not essential here - in both UK and Europe Android is way more popular. That said again in my experience most regular people only care about ability to make phones calls and streaming their music collection. 2. Boohoo your cables don't fit. I don't know about you Paul, but I buy a specific cable to use in my car - just buy the right one - it's probably not even a tenner

Well they need to sell them over here in America to survive and it does matter over here. I honestly don't know anyone considering a DBX over here and I have Urus and Bentaygas in my neighborhood and my colleague drives a DB11. On the other hand when the new full size Range Rovers land the streets will be flooded with them.

You've been too harsh with your opinion. And some of the info given is incorrect. P.e. every DBX has the Sun roof. It seems to me that every occasion is good to trash Aston. You guys never recognize that Aston Martin is the only company who has the guts to build their own platform. And you did not mention this, nor did you mention that the car excells in driving in any road conditions. Be it driven sporty or in snow conditions. All you emphazise on is the Infotainment system. Who really cares about this? I don't. I want a drivers cars, not an infotainment Center. And when I look at the prices for the Purosangue right now, any DBX, be it the standard or the 707 becomes a bargain. Nobody needs the Power of a 707 or an Urus in todays roads. However, handling wise, at least I know who has developed it and why it is good. In the Urus I just know it is a copied platform. Stop trashing Aston and get objektiv. BTW- I've certainly done a few miles more in the DBX thN you to be able to judge. And even the Infotainment System has never let me down, old or not.

What I've noticed most wealthy people won't buy a car because of the infotainment. They buy it for the badge and how much strength it has . The urus makes more money because it is a Lamborghini. A Ferrari F8 has a shocking infotainment system . Its basically the 458 one but they hold more value over a Mclaren because its a Ferrari. I think why "people" would pick the other competitors over the DBX is brand value. Most wealthy people only car about Apple car play and if the car is comfortable and fast . A Bentley, Urus, Cayenne and etc will always be a buyers choice because of how strong those brands are compared to Aston. That Rolls Cullinan is a terrible SUV . That infotainment isn't touch screen as well , its a old BMW infotainment but they sell loads .
