Living Interracial: Hardy and Karen Clark

Hardy and Karen Clark were married on Oct. 31, 1998. They have two children, Jace and Cydney. Even though their families are now accepting of their relationship, Karen's mother stopped speaking to her for quite some time when she found out that Karen was marrying outside of her race.

I´m from Sweden and I live under the impression that all humans are the same. We just have different color of our skin. And that doesen´t really matter, does it? For me it is all about who you are and thats all!

Scientifically that’s correct. People just love separation. The human race was one before we moved locations and evolved to those locations. People are just to ignorant to know that. Technically there’s only one race. The human race.

Wow! I’m from U.K. and my mother was British Angola Saxon from the county of Dorset U.K. and she used to love and cook Chitterlings throughout her life. I’ve never knew it was a dish also loved across the pond and a different race! That’s cool!!!

Our son who is 37 now never had an issue, kinda looks like the “Rock” Yes in the 80’s we did have a little pushback but its a beautiful thing

Why does all the interracial videos have black and white people? There’s never white and Asian or Mexicans and Indians. Are interracial relationships only considered black and white?

The relationship with whites and blacks have been so strained due to the mistakes of the past. It's good to see some people aren't letting those mistakes rule in their hearts. I love it because I love all people, I may not like all, but I do love all.

People are just going to accept the fact that over time, people in this country are going to brown up. I don’t have a similar history, but I know what it is like to have a parent with fair skin and one with dark skin. I was raised in an Italian community and Italians have a range of skin colors. My mom has very fair skin and my dad had brown skin. Growing up for me, this was normal. Then a friend from college drops by to visit me at home and I get 100 questions when I get back to school. Basically, what is your dad? I never forgot this and decades later I took a DNA test and did some genealogy research. It turns out that my dad had some Sephardic ancestry. It was close enough to affect his skin pigment. It also explains why 95 % of the people, including my wife’s family, think I am Italian, when I am not. We are gone from a world that is pure white, people are just going to have to get used to it. We are one country and one people, regardless of how brown we are.

People think I like white girls but I've never been attracted to one. Lol...I've been attracted to black girls, white GUYS, latin guys, asian guys, and black guys but I've just never felt that for a white girl lol. The homosexuality part is another thing lol! Especially as a Christian. But anyway, I remember a few years ago, a friend of mine tried to set me up with a white woman and we all went out to church and then to eat afterward. It was my black female friend and her black husband, me and her white friend. When we were done eating at the restaurant, we left and on my way out we passed this group of people and I swear the energy was off and someone let out one of those obvious *coughs* just to mess with me. It was so awkward and unnecessary. I wasn't even attracted to this woman and I haven't been attracted to females since the 6th grade in 2001, but here I was in this situation because my friend thought it would be good for me to try being with a woman and everyone thinks I would like white women and if that small incident exemplifies what ppl go through on a regular basis, I want no parts of it. I get enough attitude just walking around by myself! Maybe it's my awkwardness in general but being considered an "other" on top of that adds to it I believe.
