Very refreshing to hear them be very candid and honest about the fact that van living is not as romantic as it appears in Instagram posts. Like any other way of living, it has its equal share of both rewards and challenges. Great video series!
Living on the road is a nice experience and life style. Just to see that this couple handle it good, makes me happy! Nice bus and up grade! Im also a Westy fan, and i wouldnt change it for nothing! Wish you guys lot of nice camping spot and travel destinations!

amazing van. well done guys. i'm about to start my vw adventure and my issue for now is shower... was wondering how do you guys do yours? thanks
It's so cool to hear an honest story about van living. In case you haven't noticed, youtube is flooding with romanticized, narcissistic depictions of living in a van, which off course sometimes really is wonderful. But at the end of the day this is a game for hardcore masochists. You have to like all the hardships that come with it. I think you need a portable toilet though. I know, I didn't want that in my living space either, but life is just so much easier when you can poop whenever you want.
I am so glad I found this video I am building out a Vanagon and its a big help! Although I would have liked to have seen more information about the electrical set up.

Word Smith my advice: Do NOT put up to 6500 pounds into such a thing!!! these are made to carry max 1.2 tons which is max of 2.5 on that rig. 5500 pounds roughly. even with that weight on it they do not live long. these are NO trucks to live permanently @ max weight. in Germany it's usual to put in stronger coils for 5500 pounds. nothing @ these rigs is strong: steel body, engine, brakes, transmission, suspension. if you upgrade ONE thing, you MUST DO ALL. btw the 1.9 tdi engine would the the far best choice for that! it's just nut worth the money. believe me, I've driven a lot of these and loved it.

how tall is from outside and how stable is it weight distribution wise.
I am trying to follow what they are saying but I'm lost. Are they talking about 2 different van vehicles? They were talking about the VW van then they mentioned an Airstream. Did they own an RV and a van at the same time? Which vehicle blew out in PA? Which vehicle did they embrace when they returned to Austin?

I noticed on the Vanagon right middle window, you have a International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers sticker. Just wondering if you are an electrician? I am an apprentice. :)

Are the bumpers Twin Peaks from Rocky Mountain Westy? If so, any reasons for not using GoWesty bumpers? I'm getting ready to make a purchase and just researching my options.

+James Doherty From LWW: "We wanted bumpers that were not all one piece. If you dent a piece of the RMW bumpers, you can replace just that part, not so with the GoWesty. Also, we liked the aesthetic of the RMW bumpers better." Jorge
