The Wanderlust of

Фильм және анимация

In 2011, Foster Huntington created the #vanlife Instagram hashtag, and unexpectedly spawned hundreds of thousands of posts and a family of eager followers. It became a community of like-minded individuals who delight in the kind of adventure you can only get by traveling through the wilderness in a clunky, decades-old vehicle. In this documentary, we follow a group of #vanlife enthusiasts to uncover what the lifestyle means to them.

The biggest thing to remember is you don't need a van to experience a van lifestyle. Going car camping and enjoying time with others is something you can do in any vehicle. You don't have to get caught up in the nostalgia to live the lifestyle

Wouldn't that be uncomfortable? Considering it's a smaller? And less space? And what do you meen nostalgia? Van life is about being on the road full time..finding yourself and true happiness..what's the point of going camping for a while when your going to be back at it Monday morning?

barcasimple thats what van life is for some of them. They don't live in their vans full time they still have to go back to work on monday but they spend their weekends going road tripping surrounded by people they love. All I'm saying is you don't need to think you have to have a van to be able to achieve that

People do not have a choice. To survive they live in vans.Live the Okies in the great depression .Putting lip stick on a van is like putting lip stick on a pig.Poop in a box, sleep on the side of the road.China has your job.Bank took your home.

I can't understand that..how can anyone take mini vacations creating fantasy of allusions thinking there happy..but when in reality..they have to get back to work..That's not finding happiness..that's trying to escape a reality of you being a slave everyday for the rest of your life..all I'm saying is If you have no responsibilities then live free ass much. As you can..and actually live and be happy..

Very cool video, I bought a VW Eurovan Camper last year and I love it. I have been traveling to several places here in California and I'm loving the freedom of going anywhere I want and having everything you need in a compact space and not having to spend a dime on hotels. I constantly have people come up to me to ask me questions about my van and if I would want to sell it. Two weeks ago I was in Santa Barbara for three nights and the hotel rooms were $200 per night, it's so nice to park anywhere and have a great night sleep in the van. I recommend to everyone out there to give the van life a chance, it's so much fun and and you feel a sense of freedom which is incredible.

Nice production. Thanks for sharing. Before owning a van I also enjoyed vanlife, camping in my Tercel or Civic and before that our family enjoyed vanlife in a popup trailer with some canoes. I think the point is to detach, get away, meet some new people and shrug off the stresses of life for a few days. We work to live, not the other way around.

Dimes can lead to dollars, if u R the motivated type to work/save/solve problems. the entrepreneur or Mcguyver type mayB? but def non-panic indv. at, problem/ detour/chg plans. whatever opptnty u can do, to make cash along the way. gas an tires take dollars. -Tho many summer adventures got by, maybe thru help/ miracles? IDK. ppl have done it, in diff ways. IMHO, most the successful longer-term ppl, seem resiliant, start small build up, ask 4help/ share back, Had Done ok B4, head out w/ bankcard and emerg cash acct, while learning/figuring how to. A slick latemodel trick/off trail/gizmo ADV rigs def are mega bucks, how ever that came to be. could try some weeklong adventures from home base, in a basic lowcost vehicle, can then B sold on, if its not ur idea of satisfying life situation. be safe, be informed, study avail info, peace all.

Seems like the omly real problem with these vans is the bad engine they put in them. The 2.5 will give you 170 hp over the vw engines 65 hp. You'd get better mpg too. Definitely a good trade off

The thing is this looks like great fun and I'm sure it is. But most people value security over adventure. Most people want to live this way but simply can not without extreme sacrifice. Most people are not willing to give up a sure thing for something that could leave them broke and homeless. People want security with the illusion of adventure and that is where instagram and this video comes in. People can watch and follow from the safety of their home.

This looks all so nice, romantic and blah blah. I lived for 2 Years in my VW Bus - becasue I could not rent an apartment from my small wage: This is all fun and games until winter, when blankets ect. wont get dry again - and you freeze tight at the wall of your VW Bus. And you come deep frozen to work for months. And promoting doing that with children: Its not healty for an adult - in winter with no or only a small heating it can kill them. I still live for some weeks in my bus - but T3 Sycro parts are expensive as hell - where do they get the money from? WHERE? They dont seem to work ...

It's 20+ year old vans that are bound to have issues at times. It's not a VW specific thing. It's an old car thing. If you buy a new VW it's way more reliable just like all the other brands out there. VW is actually known for being very reliable and good build quality. If you buy an old well used Land Rover, Jeep, Mercedes or whatever you will also have to do work on them from time to time. It's just part of owning an old vehicle and taking it through some hard stuff.

funny, yes 30 year old engines that have sat for the last ten years break. Its kind of lack of information thing. the majority buy an older van the previous owner grew tired of it. The van sat for 10 years before they could finally sell it. the new owner starts driving it to death without doing 30 years of neglected maintenance. A lot of people now are doing engine swaps, This has changed the game entirely you have double the horse power or more, reliable modern engine. the Van drives the way it should have from the start. your chevy Van or ford when its 30 years old with 300,000 miles is going to break. Vw's hold their Value. I don't know why but I love driving mine .. it literally makes me feel good. If I am bored or whatever I go some place and do a short trip in my VW I enjoy driving it that much. it looks cool has a good stereo, If I bump into someone I know I can make a coffee on the spot and have a conversation. Every trip I have made in my VW I have met really cool people in a VW doing trips that make me say I want to do that. year long of more cross country trips, some on shoe string budgets some with money. in the end its up to you, for me its more about the travel then the vehicle but I do enjoy my VW.

They should have interviewed a 35-year-old divorced motivational speaker for this.

Wonder if the kids are home-schooled then? I would love to have my kids grow up like that and being able to spend that much time with them, really no idea where the money comes from though.
