Van Life EP5 - How Do We Fit Into This World?

How do we fit into this world we’ve created? We all write our own unique story. Yet together, we write our world. The modern nomads share diverse, inspiring stories that remind us to consciously and passionately write the story we desire beginning Now. And...If we are the writers, then WHO ARE WE?

    Love the perspective in the first part about rules. A very mature viewpoint where a lot of people would easily just blame the rules on an evil tyranny or just others in general, and not think of how their personal actions affect things and what they can do to make a change.

    Death is the other side of Life. Once everything's not guaranteed anymore everything's so much more beautiful everyday because it's all you have, is now, all you have is today, knowing that you could lose something at anytime is what makes it so precious. if it's guaranteed it's not special anymore. once it's guaranteed you take it for granted that's just our nature. so i think you have to have something at risk, you have to be at risk of losing something in order to value it

    I asked myself that question so often since I'm on the road. Where is a nomads place in this society? I still don't really have an answer to it. I think it's something we all have to answer for ourselves... When did people start trashing nature? Pretty much around the same time when people didn't have to mend broken things anymore but simply bought them anew. I guess it was in the beginning of modern capitalism... I'm not saying, capitalism is wrong per se, but the way we do it right now it's just a matter of time until the human race has erased itself and plenty of other creatures from this planet to finally make place for intelligent life that knows how to deal with it... Hopefully we'll manage to get it under control before that, though... Oh, and that was an amazing camera flight in the very end! Thumbs up for drones :D Thanks for that amazing series! I really enjoyed it!

  • @WheresMyOfficeNow

    @WheresMyOfficeNow

    8 жыл бұрын

    +About Wings First of all thanks for watching the five videos in this series!! Yes, that drone footage is superb. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to use it. I too believe that it's up to us to answer how we fit into this world. And, that it's possible that we'll never answer it. The answer may be infinite because as we grow so does our understanding. The answer may be no answer. Yes, I definitely hear you on the planned obsolescence. Also, I believe that nature is trashed because of disconnect... in ourselves, others, community, and of course Earth and even the cosmos. Perhaps this disconnect is a result of the modern concept of WORK simply because it does not allow for ample time and space to be ourselves. Thus, we become unbalanced. And, when we are living from a place of imbalance (mind, body, spirit), these aspects of ourselves are constantly seeking to regain balance again via consumerism (immediate "happiness"), drugs dependency, emotional eating (sugar) and even extreme exercise. It seems we can be addicted to anything in an effort to re-member ourselves. Thoughts for now. This is ever evolving in my mind and heart. Maybe worth discussing via vlogs. Much love!

    +erinnneufeld Thank you for watching and expressing your enjoyment of the vids. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to post 1-3 Vlogs/week. Every day is definitely too much for me. Producing content is something I'm extremely passionate about, as a way of not only sharing ideas, but personally processing life and practicing connecting to heart. I just keep finding it challenging to stay committed to regular content while also needing to work to generate income and have time for myself and my relationships. Any ideas are certainly welcome. :)

    +About Wings totally agree with this. I personally feel that daily vlogs might be entertaining, but you need to allow yourself a bit of breathing time to put the story together in your head and how you want to explain the ideas that you are pondering. The commitment of daily vlogging (and even weekly vlogging) on the road can be put a lot of pressure on you...especially if you want to keep the quality of the content high

    I totally agree that it would be hard to film life daily😀. I guess it just depends on your approach. Casey Neistat is really inspiring. Perhaps a selfish request because you do live an adventuresome existence and it is so fun to see problem solving with life outside of the box.😀

    All those "no" signs at the beginning of the video - California loves "no" signs. Sign pollution in Nanny State California. I think there are more regulation/law/rule related "no, you can't" signs in CA than anywhere in the world. I lived there and for real freedom I left CA never ever to return ever again - it is like living in North Korean. That's an exaggeration but seriously, it is exhausting dealing with the rules/regs/laws/no signs in CA. You'll see if you ever visit. After reading to the end "no, you can't" list, it leave you feeling like all there is left to do is to walk very still and silently so not to disturb any of the over sensitive Californians. People in California are very sensitive so watch out if you go there especially in an RV or van trying to camp out.

    www.cheaprvliving.com/blog/traveling-in-a-prius/ Folks the van isn't the ONLY way to do this. You don't have to saddle up with a VW that breaks down so often you could be in a wonderful climate controlled car that you will not only use the AC but you will be able to afford it because you will not be pissing away your money on fuel and repairs. The VW does not even come close to my worse economy with my Prius. That is 20 mpg towing a trailer at interstate speeds. I can get 38 mpg if I keep it at 45 mph. When I drop the trailer the car returns to 40-50 mpg. Is it tighter in a Prius to be sure but is it impossible in a Prius nope it is very plausible to travel this way. This old man is 85 years old he went the van way and he later decided he rather be a mizer and got a used Prius. See when you own a car you can do what you want to it. He decided to take the rear seats out and make it a camper so he could finally go see AK he had already been to all the other states. If I had my way I would hack a wheel off a prius and redesign a totally new vehicle to qualify for motorcycle insurance. Why? Because car insurance for me is $3.33 a day but motorcycle insurance is just 20¢ a day that is over 16 times the cost. I want a trailer anyway so if I could get a bike built out of prius components then it should bang out same if not better mpg will not hit the highway speeds of the prius because of stability issues but as a 55 mph go mobile it will cut it. I think the prius is nearly a masterpiece in a way but the insurance company will charge me 16x more just for that tire? How insane is this? Makes you want to get a sailboat and say the hell with land since they mandate you have insurance for your auto? Insurance for a boat is $100 a year? It is just nuts what they charge for car insurance. More on why a prius see the car has the hybrid system and the designers did not intend for us to sleep in them but you can set the climate control to a temperature and it will hold it. If you are parked there are things you can do to avoid excessive heat or cold. To be sure but summer is our worst time. I can use propane to generate heat I can use a heating pad and an electric blanket and an inverter to stay warm too I can set the heater on a 40 degree setting and keep warm with the blankets and additional clothing. Summer that heat is expensive to beat.
