At the risk of sounding like know what I’m talking about, where’s the metaphor? Erickson usually included a anecdote that mirrored the client’s experience along with a resolution to their problems.

I don't know about the particular case in the video. However, things like this are not normally solved in one session. It usually takes from 6 to 8 sessions or even more. From the first session, he will start to have more experiences in his life with the desired speech. On the next session, those experiences will be brought up with all the sensations related to them, that will make it possible for him to have more experiences with the natural expected speech, that will be brought up again in the next session of hypnosis, and there you go on a cycle. After some sessions he will have mastered the sensations related to the desired speech in a way that he will not need sessions anymore. I don't know if it was clear, but I tried my best to try to show what is expected in cases like this.

Doesn't working class British accent mitigate any and all hypnosis?

  • @NLPacademy

One of many interesting traits of British culture is the variety in tonal variances. For example in the north of the country the accent changes every 10 -15 miles. These changes are very subtle and fascinating to study. Fortunately, the unconscious mind, as far as we are aware does not generally demonstrate prejudice towards any accent, local or non locally :)

It's an English accent. British accents are English, Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish, but this one is clearly English. Do not confuse British with English. When exclusively referring to inhabitants of England, it's English, not British. The English live in England, the Scottish in Scotland, and the Welsh in Wales. They are also all British because all three countries are on the same island that comprise Great Britain, which is the largest island in the British Isles; together with Northern Ireland, also British, this forms the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, abbreviated to the UK. United Kingdom = country, the kingdom consisting of four smaller countries: England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Great Britain = large island, and the nationals inhabiting that island are English, Scottish, and Welsh, as well as being British. An English British accent differs from a Welsh or Scottish British accent so much that you may just as well call it a European accent. I'm English, British and a Northern European because I'm an Englishwoman living in England, which is located in Britain, which in turn is located in northern Europe but not in the EU. Moreover, I have an English accent. To say 'British accent' would make no sense at all as the accents throughout Britain differ so greatly, and no-one would confuse my accent with that of a Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish person because my accent is so clearly English. Hope this helps. ( ͡° ͜ ͡°) xx

@@michaelcarroll8619 I noticed that too. Very good, like slipping into a warm bath, and such a great contrast to OP's bigotry, which doesn't need to be dealt with head on but can be washed away with some true words. Thanks also to OP for giving the opportunity to refute your...um, whatever it was.

How would you know? What precisely tips you off that you are "hypnotized"? You are asserting you will know consciously what your unconscious agrees to, while being unconscious to it? If anything would indicate to me you don't know what you are talking about that would be it. I gather you are a theist. That you think you know the "guide words" but don't recognize them in religious texts indicates to me you have no clue. That I presume that means you think you can know with certainty what you cannot possibly know at all, is a trance. A trance so persuasive you invoked a personal belief about it. A belief for which you have no operational awareness of its effect. Nor are you aware of what transformations it makes to your ongoing experiences so as to ensure they conform to the belief "you" insist, unconsciously, must be true above all else. You have in fact varied the definition of truth itself to make the belief itself "work". The inductions in this demonstration make explicit some patterns of rapport and influence so that those who wish to train can be consciously aware of them. Functional inductions are those whose only goals are to gain rapport and influence over unconscious attention. They are, by the skilled, presented to either distract the conscious or be received unvetted by the conscious. Just like a cup of tea on a hot day, when what you really want is a cool breeze to regulate what you yourself should have been regulating all this time, but have abjugated your personal responsibility in the matter. Unless you could demonstrate you have a deep and educated interaction with your own unconscious processes, you have no way whatsoever to demonstrate you have not being in a trance or been influenced deeply by communications outside of your naive awareness. Quite simply you cannot know what you don't know you don't know.

Reading the sentence once i could tell you are a troll, reading it twice making it more obviously with the i know ALL the guide words, anyone saying i know ALL of something is most likely missing the point.
