Composer Alexander Litvinovsky worked on the suite ‘Pelléas and Mélisande’ in the summer of 2021. His score became the embodiment of the figurative content of the play of the same name by the classic of Belgian literature Maris Maeterlinck. At one time, Alexander Litvinovsky wrote music for the theatrical performance 'Pelléas and Melisande'. The successful artistic result inspired a new idea: on the basis of this musical material the composer decided to create a suite for a string orchestra. However, the deepening into the symbolism of Maeterlinck's play led Alexander Litvinovsky to the need to carefully rework the finished numbers, expand the dramatic context and, in fact, write a new, independent orchestral work.
In the history of ‘Pelléas da Mélisande’ there is a lot of mystical, encrypted, unsaid. The fictional kingdom of Alemond exists outside of a certain era, outside of reality and time. The strange and infantile characters in the play live in their own temporal dimension. The events are driven not by the actions of the heroes, but by their reflections, spontaneous impressions, reasoning, exchange of emotions, clarification of relationships.
The orchestral embodiment of the imaginative world of such a drama demanded professional ingenuity and virtuoso skill from the composer, who strove to avoid monotony and static in the new suite. He embodied in music an active internal plot, gave dynamism, alternating tempos and rhythms, timbre nuances, sound colors of modes, tonalities, creating an amazing theatricality of effective episodes and a genre variety of ancient dances.
The author of the suite 'Pelléas and Mélisande' does not seek to experiment with the latest musical techniques, he is interested in maximizing the singing nature of string instruments, the beauty of sound recording, which helps to reveal the emotional purity of the images of the embodied plot. And connoisseurs of Alexander Litvinovsky's work will recognize his bright, attractive author's style, which combines elements of baroque, romantic and postmodern music.

Navire Dans la Tempête is my absolute favorite piece out of this album. It's just so fun and upbeat, so perilous and mysterious, I love it! I discovered the piece through your Classical Music For Villains playlist, and it just- SCREAMED one of my characters. This song also gives me a really nice nautical feel that pairs extremely well with the rest of the suite and absolutely stands out in a nice way. The piece also pairs fantastically with many aspects of my Fantasy Worldbuilding project, and whenever I need a bit of extra fuel to imagine stuff for it, I turn the piece on and just listen! One of the many scenarios I can imagine with the song is just- a Royal Ball with many in attendance. The recently married heirs to the Kingdom's Throne take interest in the song as it gets played, leading to a fast-paced, fun journey to the Orchestral Stage involving leaps on tables, runs across lines of guards, trips up and down beautiful spiral staircases, and the two propelling eachother across the way, all just to get the name of the song and where to get the sheet music. That's kind of what I'm about to do IRL, that's how much that part of the suite means to me. Litvinovsky hit the nail on the board with this one, and I hope he makes more stunning suites and pieces like this in the future!

I would like to congratulate Litvinovsky on that transition from the Shadows in the Garden to the Duel of Jealousy. The abrupt ending right before the dramatic opening of the sword-fight sounds like a sincere scene in the garden was shattered by a spontaneous duelist charging out from the shadows. I quite like a good sword-fight so for the story to end in one is simply magnificent. Very whimsical and lovely overall. Each piece just becomes more charming with every listen.

Never have I been more jealous a composer wrote such beautiful and exciting pieces when, as a French Horn player, I cannot play them with my orchestra. Nonetheless, I will still ask our conductor if our strings could play at least parts of this. I'd love to hear that in a good concert hall and just sink into the sounds.

I was listening to your “Music for Writing” yesterday, and “X: Les ombres dan le jardin” was so beautiful and touching that I had to look it up and find out more about it. I love that this is what you put up today!

It is completely unrelated to this video but I wondered why in the music theme collections Wagner is always absent and was heartbroken to see that the "best of Wagner" by Halidonmusic disappeared. Anyone knows why?

I think "la chasse commence" would translate better as "the hunt begins", or even just "the chase begins". "Hunt" better gives the context though. "Hunting", especially in the US implies what in the UK is called "deer stalking", where a single person goes out and tries to get close enough to shoot the game. "The hunt" implies horses and hounds, pursuing the game. "La chasse" is "the chase" with the same meaning as "the hunt".

So are you actually an official distributor of music then? Like you pay the correct fees to the owners of the music and keep part for your work finding an audience? Because I see you selling albums, but I also see you talking about your videos being copyright struck. I imagine that a channel on your scale would have a hard time just stealing music and selling it as your own. Not to mention that at that scale it would just seem somewhat wrong to deprive the owners of their rightful returns.
