This playlist was made for me; I often feel, as Chesterton would have put it, "Homesick at home". Nostalgia is a bittersweet feeling, but - if we direct it correctly - it can serve as our most powerful reminder of that which is truly worthwhile. Much thanks to all of my fellow nostalgics and poets at Halidon for reminding me that I am not alone. May you all find yourselves more able to love beauty which is truly worth our love.

@@stevevernon5038 It is a sincerely human longing, my friend. I believe the Germans call it "Sensucht" (which, if I spelled it correctly, means "an unnamed longing"). I am sure you are acquainted with the feeling of nostalgia. Sensucht is along the exact same lines. If you want a beautiful and more thorough explanation of this, to which you might relate, I suggest you read C.S.'s Lewis's sermon, 'The Weight of Glory'. He describes it in far more detail than I could here. I've always found his writing to be relatable and profound, so I hope you can get something out of it. Best of wishes, my friend!

If there is true music, there must be contrasting fake music. What does it mean for music to be true or fake then? side note: AI is creating beautiful sonatas by studying the most pleasing chord formulas and arranging soulless but amazing songs. Is this still considered true music.

@@cultivatelife I would say that true music touches the deepest places in us. Thus, music is a conversation between the composer and/or performer, and the listener. There is much today in what is called the 'music industry' which is soulless, even when created by a person. There are also those performances which are so discordant as to make it physically unpleasant, even painful, to listen to.

There needs to be a society of old souls.

For years I have mostly enjoyed old rock from the 60s and 70s but lately at 53 I have been sucked into classical and baroque. My mother introduced me to Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc, when I was a kid and I knew somehow I would go back to it at some point in my life. Classical is all about beauty and this is what I need today.

Old souls have been here a time or 2. We KNOW the good stuff when we hear it 😊

Most mainstream modern music is designed to appeal to the cravings of the earthly body. But in using so many machines and artificial intelligence in a sorry attempt to replace individual skill and match the quality of art from previous generations, they failed to connect with the human soul. That is why modern music seems to be missing a vital component, to anyone who has a finer taste for music, to anyone who still has enough nobility to come to their senses. It is why, though unable to explain in words, their intuition tells them there is something deeply repulsive and degenerate about the disturbing state of modern mainstream music today. This is what separates the mass man from the noble man. It is not merely a matter of preference. It is a difference of the soul. The way I see it, all the machinery and artificial intelligence in today's world is a reflection of the nihilistic state of mind that runs rampant today. One may think of the state of culture like the four seasons. Each culture has its birth, peak, downfall, and death. It seems apparent to me that we are no longer in spring or summer.

True...as a musician song writer for 51 years...each composition reflects the energy emitting from the writer. Any beautiful music or bombastic music is the author's energy signature at that time. Lovely harmonies and melodies are transcendent and inspiring. Rowty and hectic music is annoying and detrimental. Sound is the force of nature, God vibrations that stimulate creation from the unformed into form.

You needn’t try to describe it. If this music has drawn us to listen to it, it does the same thing to us. It’s an exquisitely sad longing for something we miss-something we can’t articulate.

The thing I like about this music is since music is a door to the heart, this visitor is the greatest storyteller and always welcome.

I think I've gotten older these days, but listening to these songs, I feel lonely and overwhelmed as I recall memories of the past. It's music that takes me back to the past and makes me present at the same time.🥲

Oh Nessun Dorma is giving goose bumps now. Every once in while I come across something of such sublime beauty, that all I can do is to give in to the emotion and let the sprinklers go off! 🥲This is one such moment. Thanks so much Halidon Music. 🙏🌹🌻Ros

Everyone says I have an old soul and I take that with pride. Music like this is truly beautiful. Nothing in the modern world can compare to it.

I'm glad that my parents were and I grew up with beautiful classical music, unlike most people my age. I recognized most of these gorgeous melodies and I'm SO happy to hear them again! Thank you Halidon for so much of the music that I listen to.

I love these same things. I especially love the way old books smell. I'll never own a Kindle, because they make my eyes hurt and remind me I'm living in a place and time I don't particularly care for. Give me a hot mug of tea, some beautiful music (like this) and an old hardback book,...and I'm a happy (59 year-old) girl. Even better if my German Shepherd is curled up next to me.

Nor should you be. I too enjoy classical music, hiking, sitting on my patio with a cup of tea at dawn listening to bach everyday. I also am very fond of victorian mansions and castles and always felt a strong connection to england being an american. They call us weird because they aren't awakened or connected to the spiritual realm as we are. Lightworkers and old souls operating in a 4/5d realm. My response to people who tell me i'm not like them or conduct myself like regular people is " I was born an original, and i'm not going to die a copy."

It would be better to include the singing in these lovely operatice arias. It's the wondrous voice that makes the arias glorious and tender.

Of course it is! As a classical music label, we like to play with the titles of our compilations sometimes and imagine specific atmospheres or feelings they can evoke. This one seemed particularly fitting for people who are romantics or nostalgic at heart and feel they were born in the wrong century, but it goes without saying that everyone can listen to our playlists simply because they appreciate the music 🤗
