These are among the most beautiful pieces ever written, you mean ever heard by you and it's obvious that you haven't heard a lot. Why don't you write that you love this music? It's nice music an good performed although I prefer Heinz Holliger, I find those version quite boring. Ajnd why is it among the best art Western civilization has produced.... ever heard of Frank Zappa? John Coltrane? and so many others .

Tenho o hábito de percorrer os comentários , sempre que me deparo com um video de qualidade, pois sempre encontramos algo que acrescenta ao que sabemos. Melhor ainda quando encontro algum conterrâneo ( vc tem o jeito de ser brasileiro - arrisco dizer). Este espaço possui uma qualidade muito acima da vulgaridade/mediocridade atual. É reconfortante constatar que tenho irmãos por aqui, além , é claro , de outros de outras paragens mundo afora. Um abraço, desde São Paulo.

The sound of this instrument is pure magic. Magnificent.

One of the special aspects of classical music is the combination of classical instruments and tempo. The feeling when you sit in a live classical music performance is amazing.

Everything that's blown into is ostensibly a "wind" instrument. The oboe is a "reed" instrument, as opposed to the English horn.

Als Jugendlicher habe ich dieses wunderschöne Instrument 5 Jahre gespielt. Ab dem 4. Jahr in zwei Orchestern mitgespielt. Später habe ich zum Saxophon gewechselt. Die Mutter von Adolfe Sax muss Oboistin gewesen sein....

yes, there is something nostalgic about many of the pieces if not all. Its a combination of the type of music and the instruments. Barroco music gives this impression

Back in my day [1960-70] "Dope" was "Dopey" and dopey meant "dumb and stupid." I guess, today, 'Dope' means "Marvelous" and 'Rock-on' means "Perennial as the grass." - 🧑🏻JB Peace in Christ!

@@johnrborges2363 Rap in the 80's had a habit of taking words that historically had negative connotations and inverting them to mean something good. That is how we have "dope, sick, ill, bad, etc." and all are used to basically mean the opposite. If a girl is bad, or a baddy, she's extremely attractive. If something is sick, it's really cool or awesome, the same is true of dope and ill. And because rap was basically the bleeding edge of pop culture in the 90s and early 2000's especially, these things caught on into the lexicon by younger generations.

@@DangerRussDayZ6533 Thank you for the explanation. What a thwarted, twisted way of speaking that is, it reminds me of Orwell's Newspeak... It's the perfect reflection of nowadays lack of values: nothing is what it is, everything is defined as its opposite and "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength", as in Orwell's pages. Ugh!

The Marcello concert in D minor has modern sounding melodies. The oboe is so expressive. Just for the fun of it, you could speed it up, add some rhythm and bass guitar, drums and vocal and have a jamming Rock band. Bring in a pedal steel and go country. Or, perhaps not. This music is fine as it is. I do have a special fondness for the richness of J. S. Bach, a Baroque superstar in his own right.

I went to a concert of early Death metal oboe works and was beaten severly in the mosh pit. A crew of baroque bikers called Vavaldis Angels had taken over the hall. It's good to hear some peaceful Oboe works for a change.
