Little Gem Magnolia | Replanting Care

This is a dwarf southern magnolia tree - so cute! It's a USDA Zone 7-9, needs full sun and regular water (more frequently in days with extreme heat). Our Little Gem is new to us this fall, so we are focusing on establishing good, strong roots. With a solid root base growing this fall/winter, our gorgeous Magnolia tree will be able to shift it's focus on flowering next year. Do you have an updated video? I planted my 2 quartz size little gem 3 years ago. It's growing at a slow rate. Healthy but slow growth rate.

How exciting! Good luck! We've made it another month since I posted this video and our Little Gem is looking fantastic! Just a little initial shock, but she is doing great now! Where do you live?

@@GrowingRoots North Carolina, here lately we've been going thru a cold spell and I was debating on to plant it now or hold off till spring. But from what I've been reading up on it seems like it will be ok to plant now.

@@GrowingRoots Thanks !!! I had lots of huge ones around the yard as a child when I lived in Virginia, and loved the smell of them. So I'm gonna try to use my greenthumb and see what I can do lol😀

Hey thanks! You know, it was doing so great but we had a terrible freeze really late this spring and it destroyed all of my new spring growth and ALL of my previous growth from years past! There wasn't a single leaf on my tree for weeks - we were pretty scared that it was a goner Lol But she has pulled through and is pushing out a bunch of new leaves again, so it will be okay. Definitely a set back though. I'll try to get an updated video for you!
How tall was the tree when it was installed?

Growing Roots Im having twelve 8 ft 30 gallon ones installed in rotation with Holly’s for screening. So, I wanted to know the size of yours lol. Trying to find what an 8 ft looks like. Thanks for your info.
