So heartbreaking that the Chandlers police failed him. Charles was a good man. He was taking care of everyone.

They really are the nicest people. They didn’t deserve this. They are the kind of people who you would want as neighbors. I hope they will continue to get justice for Charles.

I know! Here they are on the phone with a detective after finding out Charles was dead (in an extra shocking way at that) and still being considerate of that detective's time. No way I could be that kind hearted.

Let's hope the police force can learn this critical tragic lesson as they failed Charles ultimately leading him to his death.

Jeffrey Dahmer might have murdered a few more people than Tylee but he was later killed; is he one of your _sweet precious angels?_

@@loveforeignaccentsJoe Ryan, LV’s 3rd husband, Tylee’s dad. AC spent time behind bars for tasing Joe after one of the custody visitations. It caused Joe some real health/ medical problems. It’s pretty much a fact LV & AC murdered Joe. Although, CPD’s investigation was fruitless, so there was never a hearing. It never got that far. Then in the thick of all of the other horrific drama, CPD were asked to reinvestigate that case, & they claimed they “reviewed” it again, &…bupkis. A neighbor’s dog alerted to the odor coming from Joe’s apartment one day, & that’s where he was found deceased.

​@@loveforeignaccents Larry talked about a previous husband of Lori's, and Alex had done something to him in 2007, but earned his gun permits back. From a different podcast, I thought Alex had assaulted him in a bar and served jail time. Could be him?

I am STILL enraged that the Chandler Cops didn't at least look into what he told them before he was murdered, and enraged more that nobody has held those Cops accountable. Just about everything she's trying to convey to this one the same things Charles was trying to convey to the Cops on the Cop Cam video. So sad- and enraging!

My heart absolutely breaks for Charles and I hope Lori will get capital punishment for his death, however once Charles notified the police, they did make Lori follow the order to get a psych evaluation which she passed - what else were they supposed to do?

This is so sad. I don’t even know what to say. If only one person had truly listened to them 😞

If it weren't for Kay, Heaven only knows how long it would have been before anyone noticed the children were missing. No one in Rexburg knew them, and everyone in Arizona just knew that they had moved.

Exactly! Also, how many more people were Lori and Chad going to play God with too? Imagine if Kay and Larry wouldn't have asked for the welfare check on JJ... There were a lot more people on their hit list! There may have been more death and destruction...😢

This is so tragic, you can just hear in Kay's voice how traumatic this was for her. To find out her brother died like that is horrific. Lori, and Chad, and Al and the entire cult are sick people. I hope they get the justice they deserve. :(

Kay & Larry are wonderful couple who didn't deserve to go through all this💔

It still shocks & angers me how much Charles spoke out, asked for help, & literally mapped out the road to his horrible demise. Yet, no one listened or took him seriously. He did everything for LV, for her whole family, & how they treated him when they should have LISTENED!!! If nothing else, for the purpose of helping HER! But no! LV was to be believed, obeyed, & protected. & anyone not buying her cheap, fake baloney would SUFFER! Charles changed religions for the marriage, for HER. He paid bills for all of her kids as well as her parents & I’m sure many others. He was only guilty of loving a fast-talking, manipulative, dishonest, murdering psychopath.

Why wasn’t the old investigative admonition applied to the suspects - “Don’t leave town, until the police investigation is over.”?

I really think they need to look into other deaths as well. It is awful to say this, but I suspect there is more to the death of Lori's sister (her niece Melani's Mom)

So even after talking to the Woodcocks the Chandler PD ruled Charles' death a self defense. Unbelievable. I think they just wanted the case to go away. And it did, for awhile. It's just amazing to me how many times police turn their backs on a crime because they want it to go away. Shame on the Chandler PD. If they had intervened when Charles contacted them before his death he would not have died. And likely Tylee and JJ would still be alive too. It's just shameful.

It’s not that they want it to go away. Some jurisdictions don’t have the resources to do the investigating or in some other jurisdictions, the cops are so freaking lazy, that they simply don’t want to get off their asses to do anything because, again, that means THEY HAVE TO WORK !!!

God man, this is gut wrenching. Larry is such a kind man. Kay and him are such good people. You can imagine if Charles was half as kind as Larry, then he was a wonderful soul.

The police didn’t fail Charles - Lori failed Charles -having lived down in Chandler and that area for a while during that time - it is growing so fast, the border is open and the police are only so big. In most of the body cam footage I’ve seen, the police did all the could for everyone involved. I’m sure they have learned from this.

Unfortunately Lori had the Chandler Police wrapped around her little finger! So sad and tragic! Bless Larry and Kay ❤

Wow Larry and Kay have sure been on top of Lori and her game. Glad they were the ones that sparked the investigation of JJ and his welfare.

So much respect to Larry and Kay. As riveting as these calls are, I’m curious what the strategy is releasing them ahead of the trial. Is there a reason they are coming out now instead of keeping a lid on the details for the sake of the trial?

As far as Charles' death, police did suspect something wasn't right and as soon as the autopsy results confirmed this, they began an investigation. It is heartbreaking that Charles wasn't taken seriously but keep in mind, no one but a handful of people were taking him seriously. This case was so batshit crazy. Det Hermisillo and others did do a great job. Lori was good at playing the game and very very convincing. Its like in an abusive relationship where gaslighting is involved. Most of the time, the victim is the one who looks crazy. No one is to blame but Lori and Chad and their groupies. RIP Charles, Tylee, JJ, Tammy

No, no such excuse exists for the pace of this P.D. This occurred in the summer of 2019 - one year before the protests. [Besides, the protests alone did not effect any immediate reduction in policing capacity. They expressed emotion and concern, but were without teeth. Only actual budgetary policy changes - over time - could alter policing resources, and only in _some_ (relatively few) areas/police departments. Mostly, the slogan, “defund the police”, was pointed to as a political ‘bogeyman’ to rally some sectors of society into a protective mode (political and financial) around institutions.]

Eyewitness testimony trumps everything else, more often than not..yeah it's unfortunate, but it's always been like that in America...coupled with the fact that u got 3 sets of eyeballs..Lori, Alex and Tylee all saying the same thing is almost impossible to dispute. In the end, Lori's charges never included conspiracy to commit murder against Charles..only her kids and Tammy Daybell...hence even after all this info from the grandparents, the police department still didn't do anything regarding Charles suspicious death... Charges for Charles are either still pending or may come later...

I sometimes can’t get Kay and Larry out my head , the pain they suffered due to that witch and Chad is just heartbreaking . Disgusting how they had to find out on the internet about Charles death. I hope Lori never has peace of mind ever again for the rest of her miserable days

They did not do anything

I understand 'fault' but I struggle with 'not doing the right thing' regarding 'fair warning'... If and a UNIVERSAL, IF, the blue respected Charles, at the value of his 'concerns' then Charles would be alive, as we live. No one knew Lori and her siblings like Lori's Husband of over a decade. Lori stated, when calling the insurance for beneficiary payment, she stated "my husband" yet she wanted nothing but the income from his death. So many flags, unsaid accountability... Nobody took Charles, for valid, regarding his fear for his life... Just to lose his life to the person he warned the blue about. Shady... So very sad indeed...

When complaints were filled it just looked like another bad marriage breakup with accusations flying back and forth. Serial killers related to cults are 1% of serial murders. What Lori and Chad and Alex did, and had just started so not technically enough of a body count to be classified as serial, had not happened yet. They didn't know what they had exactly.

Little did the Chandler police department know how big this was going to be!? Sadly, these turn of events that occurred couldn't be stopped! I know Charles had Lori evaluated and she allegedly passed with flying colors (I'd love to be able to see how & why she passed!) and the police did interview her. However, there is a nagging feeling in the back of my head wondering if more could've been done? By law could more have been done by the police after talking to Charles the first time? It's sickening that when people make threats against you. Most of the time nothing can be done due to he said/she said or lack of evidence until a crime actually occurs 😢 I hope Lori never gets an appeal and Chad Dabell (Daybell) has to fight against the DP! He decided to play God and choose who lives and dies! There is NOTHING in my opinion that could make Idaho LE take the DP off the table in Daybells case! NOTHING!?🤬 Lori should've had to have faced the possibility of the DP as well but I think they took it off the table due to her being temporarily insane!

Its so unfair that they thought they were doing what was best for JJ by giving him up. They must feel so much regret. I wish they knew back then how strong they really were and felt they themselves could give JJ the best life. I know Charles loved him but I think JJ was always an accessory to Lori. A good deed to get points with God, a new baby so she looked younger. Then when she was over him she got rid of him. These people loved him so much. I see my moms love for my kids in them. A desperate love. I dont know how they have survived this.

Those poor kids could have been saved in the police had done a proper investigation, who says I'm off to a barbecue 😮 massive failings

Just think if the Chandler police had done something the deaths that came after might not have happened. I know hindsight is 20/20 but a gut says his wife wants to kill him and then he's shot to death, wow. They aren't taking that face value but yet she was able to leave the state with her brother and two children that were murdered later and then Tammy in an attempted murder on Brandon they knew 100% something was wrong they are the world grandparents every grandparents would think the same thing you got on the plane and not have a hotel they knew at win something was wrong there was children involved here at least DCS or something should have been called but yeah they keep saying they're not taking her for word who the hell smiles and talks like that and interview room they should have never been allowed to leave I know this might weigh heavily on the Arizona police but as it should they became the grandparents where are the children that should become a law that no child should be unseen or unheard from at all for any given period of extent of time look at Ruby's kids
