It’s quite fascinating the way Lionel Richie approaches these duets. It’s like vocal gymnastics. He challenges the artists to bring it on! He is so in his element, relaxed and just plain cool.

Lionel Richie and Billy Ocean always get forgotten, because you had Michael Jackson and Prince

They sound phenomenal and they look so darned happy. You can tell they love each other's musicality

I knew Lionel when he was in the start of his career playing fraternity houses on football weekends at Auburn and U of Alabama. I crossed paths with him again when the Commodores played the stadium at 6 Flags over Georgia. Lastly, I drove a truck on the Dancing on the Ceiling tour. Lionel is a class act and a wonderful human being. Much respect!

I saw the Commodores in Meridian, Mississippi, at the Temple Theater in the early 80s. Lord I love his voice! I commented as much on the 25th anniversary of the song for Africa We Are the World on here. He or someone said thank you. He’s a small town boy who made great! I wish he’d write and perform more now.

I have been playing Sail On daily over the last few weeks and could hear the twang in Lionel’s voice and began listening to the song through a country filter and IMMEDIATELY went searching only to end up here, watching a PERFECT collaboration 😍

My friend sent this to me when my divorce was final…thanks to her and Lionel/Tim! Free at last, free at last!

My husband and I were at this concert in Las Vegas. We went to the Academy of Country Music Award show there the night before so all of the country artists were there already. Lionels show was a tribute to him with all his country friends. Many of them have recorded songs that he has written over the years. He is an excellent song writer and singer. It was an awesome and entertaining show. We had a blast that weekend!

My dream is to see Lionel show in Vegas. I eloped with my now husband to Las Vegas in 2016. His show wasn’t playing that weekend and you kinda have to plan ahead for those shows. And that’s hard When you Catch a plane and elope on a minute notice. It was the best time I’ve ever had with the man of my dreams.

I have loved Lionel from his early days with the commodores but when he went out solo it was the best thing for him. He has the respect of so many great singers and he and Kennny Rogers were very close.

I feel sorry for you have you actually lived in the south or are you going by what you have been taught or social media? I actually have blood relative's of different race and reguardless of what skin color or accent/slang or language you are or speak thats the way human race was made different! If you have been offended by someone else that's your own problem to deal with and move forward you seem like your basing facts on years ago about history or stereotypes who the hell that's living can go back and change that no one you can only focus on the present and future history is something you learn from but don't stay in it! I can take whatever and dish it out too i just don't project negativity online saying these people in this area are like this you don't know everybody in the world so you can't pass judgment then play victim and accuss a whole group of population in one area is a one way!

Thank you for mentioning the song writing… it is often overlooked. The most talented singer/instrumentalist is almost nothing without a great song. Musicians come and go ( I know… I’ve probably only got 10 years left myself or-a few more…) but great songs remain. We’ve had some for decades and some for centuries.

@@lionelrichie9312 this here song is one of those that you play on those late night - early morning drives where you just want relax drive. It doesn't matter if you by yourself or with friends.

Lionel Ritchie is a great human being. He is very giving and thoughtful. He was very close to many people including Kenny Rogers. Lionel still keeps tabs on Kenny's family after his death. I remember in 83 through 86 no one was hotter on the music charts than Ritchie.

Still one of my fave songs! Timeless! And adding McGraw just made it better!!

Lionel Richie's voice is incredible, still sounds the same after all these years!

Lionel is a phenomenal singer. Very successful r and b singer with brick house and dancing on the ceiling. Then he became successful solo artist and Country singer who was honored at country music Ceremony by all the contemporary successful country singers who said they grew up listening to him and sung his songs. He wrote a lot of hit songs for himself and many others.

Lionel could sing the phonebook and it would still sound great. Love that man.

Lionel Ritchie is such a pro. He is perfect in his harmonies and he does effortless. Tim is awesome too. But Lionel is as close to perfect as you get.

Absolutely loved this. This song takes me back to my high school years. The late 70's can't be beat. I notice when two artists get together to sing a song together, they exponentially improve it. The same is true for the song Man on the Moon when Bruce Springsteen joined REM or when Earth Wind and Fire sings with Chicago. This was so amazing to have Lionel Richie and Tim McGraw singing together.
