Lionel Richie is one of the most prolific singer-songwriters of the rock era. He was a hit machine in the 70's and 80's, and even wrote some in the 90's and beyond. Few people have written (music and lyrics) and performed more hit songs than him (Paul McCartney comes to mind). When he gushes like this about a performance of one of his songs, you know that you are special.
