I know Luke can sing other songs than country but he really outdid himself with this performance. Sail On if you closed your eyes you can hear Lionel singing. His voice sounded so smooth and nailed that song.

He's a good singer, but his recent songs have largely been awful

Luke sang beautifully. His energy is beautiful too.

Luke’s voice sits right in the pocket. He was hitting these runs that I was shook about it. I knew he could sing but damn he really has so much range and he can do so much more with his voice that country I feel doesn’t really let him fully show. That’s why he’s top 3 favorite country singer.

Luke Bryan's coolness has sky rocketed. Imagine how intimidating it would be to sing at this venue, and he does pretty well. American Idol 3 some they have now is gold

I love how Lionel lips along to the lyrics. A true songwriter. It never gets old!

I normally don’t like when someone else covers another artist songs but I have to say I really liked this Luke rendition. Of course NOBODY sings it like Lionel but he did a great job.

It must be an awesome feeling when an absolute legend ask you to sing his songs at the Kennedy Honors ceremony. 😀

I didn't know Luke Bryan could sing like this!!! WOW! It really touched Lionel Ritchie, a mega star. I have so many of Lionel Richie's albums. Great singer and phenomenal songwriter. Lionel, you look great, aged like fine wine! I'm 63, but still love listening to great artists. Love you both, and all of Lionel's songs are timeless.!!! Just as good as they were many years ago. LOVE!!!

Lionel and Luke have been judges on American Idol going on 4 years. They have become good friends. Luke is so talented. I love his songs, and he is respectful so the fact he did this performance with much love to Lionel, does not surprise me. Luke is a very good person. Lionel is the best. These are 2 great people with talent. ❤❤

hitting the notes isn't the bee all. I wish he would take some voice lessons to get rid of the clogged sinuses sound. He is best when he is out of that. It's so rare though.

What an amazing voice and tribute to an amazing man!

I have always found it sad that many of Lionel's songs did not get the recognition in the country music community that it should have. Sail On was a great example of good and entertaining country music. In most places when you look it up, it is posted as R&B. This song was not posted correctly and I can't help but think, it was done because he is a man of color. If you ever doubt his roots, look up Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie. They have written songs for each other and performed together many times. They are two musical pioneers that set the bar on how a song should sound. More importantly, they proved that the color of your skin should not dictate the music you make. Charlie Pride was one of the first to try to break this barrier, and Lionel carried that torch hoping that people would not judge him on the color of his skin, but the soul of the man performing the song.

What a talent, Lionel is definitely one of the greats. A top quality tribute by Luke, showed his true talent and vocal range without trying to outdo the Lionel classics.

I have always loved this song by Lionel, but hearing this version is amazing. Love your voices..
