I posted this about 2 minutes in and i feel exactly the same. Ive actually taken early retirement from Painting and decorating after 30 years plus and will be keeping in touch with none of the back stabbing bustards.

Does seem to be a lot of back stabbing & jealousy in the painting game .

Zero work mates now. its all about the money and if your not making them money or helping them in some way you never hear from them. They are nothing thats absolutely right and ive known some painters decades. Thats all it is to gather info. where you working how much you getting who you working for any weekends anywhere. Honestly they are not mates. Not even work mates. Just people you used to work with.

With friends like that you don’t need enemy’s Break my trust once and you’re out. Once someone is out, they’re dead to me.

Turn up the radio , ignore em and crash out the plots , look after number one It’s about money at the end of the day not a social event

i was a painter and decorator for 45 years since i was 15 years old serving my apprenticeship made a few mates , my last company was a large glasgow firm whom i worked for over 12 years till i took early retirement at 60 , i had a lot of mates that we used to txt one another , ie , get on this site the moneys good etc . once i retired the txts all fadded away after a month to non exisistince , your only a work mate at end off the day

Yes it's dog eat dog nowadays. After COVID even worse a selfish mentality has came over everyone. Customers terrible nowadays all Me Me Me forgot anyone else. Harry Styles wrote a song about this. " Sign of the times" 😂

All the blokes I'm good with I recommend to clients..and they do the same for me and cunts let em go fast. Bad on ones ain't hard to spot to be fair. Wet trades are the worst for that shite been on the trowle seen it many times. All the best to ya mucka keep on pushing 🍻

I think it's the only way to stau quiet who your working for and what your doing, ive noticed the trade getting more back stabbing as things get worse in the economy there will be more of it, that guy always was back stabbing you, it's because your good at what you do, he knows you'll show him up.... I freely give knowledge if someone asks, but the old days have gone, I work on domestic houses, on social media I just block people if they start playing up

I have lost good friends though Painting even got them in to spraying and there all fucked us over trust no one these days

We used to work as group of 5-6 blokes and we had great days working and also having a bit of a laugh , but we’ve all gone our separate ways working alone sadly ..I can go days and days without speaking to anyone RE work . Alas work has become way too cutthroat and lacking in anything like enjoyment for me ..started my apprenticeship in 1983 never done anything other than decorating in all those years but I’m really getting to the point where Im looking for an alternative source of income . Sites down here in the London/Home Counties re just choc full middle managers with no practical skills and foreign lads who don’t have to make the money I have to for my mortgage ...ergo they will work for less than I can afford to.

@@wallingtonfilming the problem is finding an alternative job that will pay the money I’m used to bud 🤩🙄…I’m 57 and I always intended working to 60 but borrowing on the mortgage over the years has left me with 6 years left to go , so we sell up and move France or carry on 6-7 days a week crawling around in dust and crap like a 20 year old . While earning less than I did 20 plus years ago !!! How’s your income changed over the years mate ??….prices down here have gone steadily down ,while van prices and equipment has gone up..last van (2022) cost me £22k plus the VAT ffs
