I like to imagine an alternative reality where Bourdain decided to just walk away when he was at the top and became a creative writing teacher and finished his days living a quietly fulfilling life. God I miss him.

On one level, sure. But I’ve watched a lot of his interviews over the last few days, and there’s a darkness behind a lot of what he says. This line just struck me as I was watching it.

I miss him so much even though I never met him. I still can't grasp it.
After wasting much of the last five years of my life, it makes me feel great that somebody as accomplished as Bourdain has done the same and still managed to pull himself together and make something of himself.

The inner hippie is an invention. He or She doesn't exist. And if it exists it is a role like in a Play. You can only be yourself in life. From day one. 👆🏻

I wish I had friends like this that I could sit with and talk about random subjects intellectually, thoroughly, introspectively, and not have to dumb down the language because of the company I am with.
You will be remembered, Mr. Bourdain. Always.
Anthony & Mario are so great to listen to. I like her energy to!
Love and miss you, Tony, so much.

I sat in english and art classes with him in high school. We were classmates. Mind you it was a private school and there were only 5-8 of us in a class. He loved classic literature and the contemporary novels that we were assigned , 1 book per week. We then discussed and reviewed them together. He was fun to be around and very smart. Sorry he is gone.

"you're fighting the person that you suspect lives within you"...priceless..we all have that "inner hippie" within us..some just screaming to be released..some buried so deep they never get seen...it's good, healthy to let that hippie out, now and then..keep them on a timer or a leash...but, to be barefoot sitting in a tree..gives you something to look forward to
Cooks life advice: Be On TIme! Listen to those who have the time in. Working hard actually means something, you are gaining exp. Be On Time! Do whatever is asked of you no matter what. Don't do your best, do the chef's best. Then do it again, and again. Finally you will get noticed.

One of the things I took away from this conversation was that Gabrielle knew exactly what she wanted from this conversation. Not that she was dismissive to Mario, but she was intentional and deliberate with the questions she asked Tony because she felt there was something to learn from a writers prospective..
Wow these two really were the ones to give life up blessings and good advice to people help me out here am I wrong one takes his life and the other one is in the balance let's try to figure this one out but got this for the books. Lights camera action.
They should make a separate series with talks like these.
I would of loved to been in his creative writing course. I wish he stayed on the pony. Godspeed
I have a few chef friends and they can never come over for dinner because they are busy cooking for others!
Anthony was troubled yes, but aren't we all? He speaks so well, his thoughts run deep, it's dangerous to have those thoughts all of the time. 100% relate

I am the inner hippy right now.... Gotta grow out of it I guess
Love Bordain - I remember his comments when Batali's #metoo moment came - the response of a straight up, decent man. How I wish we could as a culture, and as a profession (psychiatrist here), let him know that there was a way to relieve his pain without going into the pit of substance abuse! What are we doing as a profession about the loss of people not just like Bordain but any human being that finds themselves in terrible emotional pain? Why does the tyranny of "success" and "productivity" go unchallenged? The French say that while they work to live, we in the US live to work! Why the stigma and cruelty towards those in need of our help? Bordain loved those "Others" - not unlike the families perhaps separated at our borders. Why are we so afraid of difference including of those with mental health issues or immigrants? Why does America act with so little generosity as if we were living in a third world country and everyone must keep working all the time or else.....America and Americans can be amazing but.....
Anybody that names their kid Apple must be limited.

Anthony Bourdain passed away earlier today
I have to say this sadly we have a lot of sick people in this world and it breaks my heart and I've been exposed to it ever since I was young girl I'm 73 nothing shocks make nothing surprises me my thing is I just don't understand it and I can't comprehend it that's my problem that I have and that's why I don't have empathy for anyone that does abide by the things all the things that are wrong no I don't have empathy I can't it's not in me. Lights camera action.
Writing is harder than cooking. Much harder. Most can cook a tasty meal; most cannot write something other people would enjoy reading.
