LETS GET READY FOR THE ST PATRICK DAY CELEBRATION/OLD SCHOOL CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is my recipe for the most awesome flavorful, juicy corn beef and you ever eaten and cooked
very easy simple recipe
OLD SCHOOL CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE :
3 lb corned beef brisket
1 lb carrots, peeled and chopped
1 lb. potatoes, red, white, or gold
1 onion, diced
1 head of cabbage, sliced or quartered
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp black pepper corns
1/2 tsp whole cloves
water to cover the corn beef completely
Mustard Sauce
2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
4 Tbsp. plain Greek yogurt
1 Tbsp. honey
Directions:
Place spices in spice grinder or blender to crush in small pieces
rub spices over brisket on top and bottom
Place onion and carrots in a stock pot Lay the corn beef on top and fill with water until the corn beef is completely covered.
Turn the heat on high and when it starts to boil, lower the heat to low and simmer covered for 1 hour for every pound of beef you have.
In my case, the beef weighed 3lbs so it will simmer for a total of 3 hours.
After 2 1/2 hours of cooking (or the last 30 minutes) add the potatoes. When the corn beef is done, remove it from the pot to another dish. Lightly cover with foil and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Once you remove the beef, add in the cabbage to the pot and simmer for 15 minutes more. You may have to bring the pot back up to a boil and then lower the temperature to simmer.
When it's time to eat, slice the corn beef across the grain into your desired thickness. Serve with the carrots, cabbage, and potatoes and the mustard sauce. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Enjoy.

I loves corned beef and cabbage too
Good afternoon. Love corn beef/cabbage
Corned beef hash sounds good too😊
Thank you very much for sharing your recipe. It looks DELICIOUS 😋
One of my favorite recipes, prepared by my Mother (RIP), ❤️ is the corned beef and cabbage!! THANKS CHEF JEFFREY FOR SHARING ANOTHER PREP AND SERVE VERSION OF AN ANNUAL (sometime a few times a year) DELICIOUS DISH!! 🤤😋🥂
That's awesome, and the next morning, I would be making cornbeef hash for breakfast .
Thanks for the lesson on cutting the meat.
Starting mine now! My hubby will be home from work right before it's done. ❤ Happy St. Patrick's Day, Chef!
As an Irish American New Englander I approve of this video!! Lots of Irish use grey corned beef (same thing but no sodium nitrate to turn it pink). Happy St. Patrick's Day everybody! #DUKEAPPROVED

From a part Irish 3rd generation, and a New England family that migrated to TX in the 50's Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. I'm in my 60's and decided to cook my first corned beef, cabbage, potatoes & carrots! I sure hope it turned out good, will see soon. I was missing my parents and grandparents, so I decided to commemorate my grandmother's heritage.
Yummy 😋
Chef thanks for the one pot meal recipe. I will definitely fix this for my family.
I think I'm the only one not Irish, on "green day". Everybody I know and inside here, seems to love it! Thanks for sharing another great recipe, regardless, Chef Jeffery! "Sláinte chugat" .. Good Health to you ☘️ 🙏💚
Hello from Cork Ireland 🇮🇪. I'm actually cooking this for dinner today (Sunday). Although a little differently. Corned beef is submerged in plain water and cooked for 1 1/2 hrs, then the cabbage is added to the cooking liquid. Potatoes are generally steamed, especially if they are floury because they'd disappear in the water! We would also have either Brussels sprouts and/or marrowfat (mushy) peas. 😋😋😋

Hmm my great grandpa oliver gibbons came from somewhere in Ireland to America. I've always thought we must have been poor or weird. We've always put it in crockpot with plain water for a few hours then added a can of sour kraut and several cups of chopped onions let it go some then added cabbage and shredded carrots and sprinkled the seasoning packet. Let it cook in crockpot til meat falling apart then served over top of mashed potatoes with stuffed eggs and soda bread. How close to Irish is that? It's not like roasted in oven and served in slabs like most people do here.

You added a can of kruaut to the liquid?

@@tst1200 I hate to say it, but that's not very Irish. We don't really eat sauerkraut , wouldn't add onions and would never add seasoning packet....sorry!

@@marymurphy1393 Lol yes I suspected the sour kraut was not Irish my grandfather was full Irish but my grandma was full German and I think the kraut was her added touch chuckle. Onion s aren't Irish ? Hmm. In America all corned beef has a seasoning packet that what makes it corned not just beef. Do you all add any seasonings anytime or rub or cure it that makes it corned then! But by weird Imeant the cooking in crockpot and serving it overtop of mashed potatoes ...that ever done in Ireland? I have heard that boiling it was a sign of those with less as it woud stretch farther to feed more and roasting it was a sign of more wealth with not having to stretch the meat among many people.
Corned beef looks awesome chef nice job 👍🏼
At 10:30 last night, I put a 3.5 lb. corn beef brisket it my crock pot (fat cap up), on low heat. Hub checked it at 6:00 this morning but left it on low for another 2 hours. It came out beautifully…juicy, tender and tasty. I’m cooking cabbage in the drippings and will serve mashed potatoes and green peas and salad for our after church supper. Thanks Chef!

I feed a crowd 20 to 60 making corned beef and cabbage in the crockpot with shredded carrots and another crockpot of mashed potatoes and another of rice (for the Asian folks) and stuffed eggs, yogurt and fruit, soda bread and peanut butter potato candy with orange punch and green punch.

I love this dish. I always add all of the ingredients right off the rip. I always loved how it came out. But I'm liking your idea of how you time out the veggies. I think I'm going to make this tomorrow just to try your method. Thanks for the video and enlightening me on an interesting new process... 👍

I'm right there with you on missing mom! Mine's been gone for 2.5 years and some days it's still so very hard. Her mom was Irish so I made this in honor of them. I haven't tasted it yet, hope it's good since it's my first time to cook it lol. My birthday is on 6/30, mom passed unexpectedly the day after. Thank God I spoke to her the night before, as we were making plans for my birthday/4th of July celebration. As a child we always combined the two on the 4th as our family always had a backyard party/cookout at my Great Aunt/Uncle's, the trend continued after they were gone. I hope you had a blessed St. Patrick's Day!
That looks so delicious, thanks for sharing, cooking this on St. Patrick’s Day.

Outstanding Chef. This is how I cook mine too. I do like sweet potatoes with my dish too, instead of carrots. Both are good though. Thanks for sharing how to cut this meat. It's so important. Next day is even better with a good Rueben sandwich. 👍 Have a blessed St. PATS DAY.
Yummy!❤

Thank you chef for explaining thaw cut of that meat. That explains why I love brisket and corn beef so much, they are one in the same.
Good morning friend! You mean to tell me I have been cutting corned beef wrong all these years?😂😂Next time I cook it I will know better, know better do better, Thanks for the lesson :)
Good Morning Chef 💜💜💜 Here in CT my Family always has Cabbage. Potatoes and Cornes Beef for St Patrick’s Day. It’s is Big deL in this neck of the woods. I always enjoy the sandwiches from the cold leftover brisket. 🍀 AuntieEllen
I cook my corn beef in the slow cooker. I make the cabbage separate because I like fried cabbage with a little bacon grease. You already know, got to have some good cornbread to finish off the meal.
Yes absolutely cutting against the grain makes all the difference with corn beef, roast and steak looks absolutely delicious chef 😋🙏🏾❤️
Thanks Chef! ❤
We boiled our corned beef dinner in a huge pot on top of the stove also. I can't imagine cooking it in the oven. Your recipe is very similar to our family one when I was growing up. I've made this only a couple times myself. Looks delicious. Thank you for another great recipe and video.
Thank you for this video. Especially for the information regarding washing the brine off. I cooked one ( slo cooker) according to pkg. directions. Ended up throwing the whole pot in trash.I didn’t learn to cook corned beef when growing up in Corpus Christi Tx. So I went to culinary school to learn( still didn’t as I missed that class)That’s why I like this channel. Thanks chef.

Cooking this up right now. I had this dish like 15 years ago at work but never tried Cooking it at home. Great video with a lot of soul!
Chef you can also do a corned beef melt w/ sauerkraut, mustard (spicy goes good) a lil Mayo on toasted sour dough with some cheese of your choice!!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! That was the easiest way to cook a corn beef brisket! Have ever seen!!! God Bless!!!
Chop the leftover corn beef up, make a white sauce with a dollop of mustard, and serve it with pasta. Yummy!!
Cabbage has never been a big favorite of mine but I do like a good corn beef. Never attempted to make it because I never really knew how so thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick.
Now I'm hungry.
Looks good Mr.Jeff how you doing
This meal looks absolutely delicious. I love it.
I cooked my corned beef in my slow cooker on low about 8 hours. I cooked my cabbage, red potatoes and carrots separate. I also cooked a corn casserole. Everything was so good!! Never cooked it all together! Yours looked delicious!! ☺️

Hi chef I love corned beef. I bought one yesterday. Didn’t think abt st Patrick’s day But I usually poach mine in seasoned water for abt. 1 1/2 hrs then take out, cut slits in fat cap & rub season pck all over it & put in oven with a little of the juice to finish cooking & crisp up the fat 😋. Then put onions & cabbage in juice just until fork tender with a little crisp left in cabbage 😁😋. ❤
I would like to make this for St. Patrick's Day.

Good Afternoon Chef that is my favorite meal once a year!! Looks so delicious!! Have a Blessed Day!!
Looks great and so easy.
Chef, you need to give this a try before the corned beef goes off sale, for real: Ingredients: * 3 lb. flat cut corned beef roast *_ditch the spice packet_* * 2 tsp. cooking oil * 1/2 cup maple syrup * 1/4 cup yellow mustard * 1/4 tsp. black pepper * 1 garlic clove minced Directions: 🗒️ *SOAK CORNED BEEF 24 hours, change water at least once if you can (though not necessary), and then discard water before cooking.* * Pat the corned beef dry with a paper towel. * Set a large skillet on the stove top to medium-high heat. Add cooking oil to coat the bottom of the pan. When the oil is hot, brown the meat on all sides. * Place the browned corned beef into the slow cooker. * In a small bowl mix together the maple syrup, mustard, pepper, and garlic clove. Pour this sauce over the corned beef in the slow cooker. * Cover and cook and LOW for 7 hours, without opening the lid during the cooking time. Seriously… cook this with some southern fried cabbage and 🤤 PS: You could throw this in the pressure cooker for ~60 minutes and it’ll turn out wonderful, too! (Sorry for the edit, but I almost forgot about the instant pot option for ya)
💜
Thank you! This looks wonderful!❤
Hello Chef Jeffrey. That plate of food looks tasty. Have a great day. Cheers!!😊❤
