Corned Beef Brisket
Hey Guys! Welcome to Jackie’s Southern Soul. In this video I will show you how I cook two versions of Corned Beef Brisket. One I’ll cook on the stovetop and the other I will bake in the oven. Oven baked is and always will be my favorite way to cook this brisket because it has so much more flavor. The taste of an home cooked Corned Beef Sandwich with mustard is wonderful. I hope you’ll give it a try.
Thanks and God bless!
1 Packaged Corned Beef Brisket
8 Cups Water
1 Medium Cabbage, chopped
1 Medium Onion, chopped
3 Medium White Potatoes, peeled and cut up
6 Medium Carrots, peeled and cut up
2 Teaspoons White Vinegar
1 Teaspoon Granulated Onion
1 Teaspoon Granulated Garlic
1 Teaspoon Lawry’s Seasoning Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
Cook the corned beef according to the package directions. Add the extra seasonings before adding the vegetables. Add more to your liking.
For the baked brisket:
Place washed brisket into a roaster pan. Add 5 cups of water. Pour the seasoning packet contents on top of the brisket. Cover and cook in a 375 degree oven for three hours. Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing against the grain. Enjoy!

Thank you for this video. My mom and grandmother have passed for a couple years and now my 8 sisters want me to make this. No holiday going on here in New Orleans. They just miss having it. I’m the main old school cook in my family. I have never made this before. There has always been an older generation to do this one. Now it’s me. I have to say, I like the way the oven one looks better than the stove. My grandmother always made this in a crockpot. But thank you so much ❤

You are so welcome! I prefer the oven method also. I just need to experiment with the stovetop method more to perfect it. Meat is too high right now to mess it up😉
I love the way it sounds when cabbage is cut😊

I boil the corned beef with packet as directed. I cook carrots and vegetables in oven roasted with herbs, olive oil, fresh garden herbs, dill, basil, fennel, sage, thyme, etc. Tomorrow, hash and or a Ruben sandwich. Fantastic.
When the family started in the background I felt like I should be over there eating too. Felt like my house

Looks amazing. I like both ways but boiling sometimes takes longer and gets so hot and steaming in the small apt size kitchens. For those that have very small spaces a meat chef at a restraint told me to slow crock pot cook it. I will never go back to baking. Cook on low 5 hours add all veggies and cook another 30 to 45 mins on high but take the brusque out to rest. You can put in the the oven for about 10 mins to Brown and crisp up the fatty part. After that rest I have never had a better brusquit. I have tried this on the flat and the point cut. Just like you said do not over cook it and cut against the grain and it will be perfect. I like slow cooker cause I can put it on and forget it for hours. Good luck. Prayers to y’all and thanks for sharing.
I got everything I need making it today for tomorrow 😃

Outstanding video post, thank you for sharing. I love making Corned Beef.
Honey Mom, you did the best you could do in one video. You opened my eyes and taste buds. I was honestly looking at those sweet yams on the side. Here I am cooking in an Instant pot, yet I would ultimately like that oven baked one. That is the best. And like you said, you can live on that beauty all week long on sandwiches or the plate. Don't apologize girl, I love you and bless you for doing this video to help me. I'm a 69 year old white man that would love to meet you and cook together. We would have a blast!!! First time watcher. Very good video. I'm in my 60's a decided to cook corned beef for the first time. Did it the traditional stovetop way on this Saint Patrick's Day, adding red potatoes, carrots, & cabbage about :50 before it's done. I'm anxious to see how it tastes. Your oven cooked corned beef look really good! I may have to give that a try another time. I loveeee fried cabbage! I've never made sweet potatoes like that so I'll have to try that too! Many blessings to you and your family.
I enjoyed your presentation, I can eat either version…I prefer my cabbage to be larger pieces💖and a little crunch , good job 👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽❣️

U didn't 4get 2 pray. I'm gonna try baking the corned beef.
Def going to use a broth instead of water
How long did you cook the Brisket in the oven at 375? And is that the same when you make beef Brisket in the oven not corned beef style? Also did you add the same amount of water to the oven roasted one or was it just cover it with water? Thank you. Looks Great.
My friend starts her brisket by boiling it but finishes it in the oven. She also cooks her veggies in the oven. Roasts them separately before adding them to the brisket.
I use a seasonings bag for the pack of seasonings. I don't like loose seasonings.
If you make it in the oven is it better for corn beef sandwiches?
I'm going to give this a try in my electric skillet. So that I can control the temperature.
Wish I had that background. Family. I don’t have Family like y’all.
Ms. Jackie I am new to your channel. Have you ever done a video on how to cook sweet potatoes? I would love to learn. I have never cooked them homeade, only out of a can. Yours looked DELICIOUS!

Baked is best. All of the flavor is in the meat.
When you boil corned beef, you need to then glaze it and then roast it in the oven for 10-15 min...
Oh, I thought that the brisket had to be rinsed before cooking because of the salt content...so, then just don't add salt or anything with salt. Also, you look like Taraji P. Henson in the green t-shirt (yes, it's a compliment). God Bless

I add bay leaves and garlic cloves...but I smash the garlic with an onion
Serve with gray poupon mustard 😋
