You know why people nitpick it? It’s not a good show over all, and it’s hard to place why. So all the complaints turn into what sounds like nitpicking. Is the acting and writing bad in the movies? 100%, but it feels good, so those things get overlooked. When it’s bad people nitpick it. Claiming that people are just nitpicking it, doesn’t invalidate what they say.

This. This is how human beings get dissapointed in every aspect of life itself. Everything is measured against an expectation. I think it's amplified when you are a "fan" of something, somethiing that brings you great joy. I completely understand why part of the fandom is dissapointed with Disney Star Wars. I'm not, but I think I can understand it. But this is the nature of things. Nothing anybody can do about anythinig in life except be the change you want to see. Become a storyteller, become na artist, create your own worlds with your own mind. This is the ONLY way to guarantee that thing you like (the thing you actually created) is going to meet your expectations.

@@jsavage6355 I thought The Force Awakens set the proper expectations for a Star Wars trope. The fallen master. Yoda. Obi-Wan. Then Luke. The Force Awakens said Luke disappeared. Han Solo said Luke disappeared because he failed ot properly train Ben. I am and will always be flabergasted as to what the fandom was expecting us to find when Luke appeared. A super hero powered Jedi bad-ass? Based on what the previous movie setup? Do people even know how stories work? Do people know that Star Wars is the story of coming of age, it's selfish v selfless, it's falure and redemption. It's never been anything else than that. Never. The Last Jedi was par for the course. If anybody was expecting something else from Luke they simply have never (and probably never will) understand what Star Wars is.

Whips don’t really leave curved scars IRL. They leave straight or mostly straight scars, because you don’t get hit by the side, you get hit by the end. Not saying a lightwhip isn’t different, just saying that whips don’t really do that just because they’re curved. That said, lightening does leave forking and non-straight scars when people are struck. Granted often more wild that Qimir’s but just saying.

I think with how they've treated Qimir in regard to screen time, build up, and atmosphere. I just don't quite get Vernestra being the Sith Master. I get her having secrets, they've telegraphed that, but the Sith are overflowing with hatred and seething, the universes' most evil dark side users. Sledge hammer to crack a nut? A Jedi tried to control a situation then it got out of her control seems way more normal to me.

Could be wrong here, but I think the Light Whip shot was a deliberate misdirect. Qimir could have been lying about being a Jedi. Maybe he instead really was trained by a Sith (which would explain his extensive knowledge of Jedi practices *but also his quotations of the Sith code*), and later he was discarded by his master, left for dead, or assumed dead, but survived.

A couple of things. 1) Whips don't leave curvy marks when struck. 2) I don't read the books, but if she is one of the EVILs, I will 100% be reading the books. 3) We enjoyed being spoiled that Darth Vader was Anakin and were glued to Clone Wars. I like this strategy if they are cooking this way. 4) I think if Vernestra IS a sith lord, possibly a apprentice of Tenabres, her being in the Jedi would be HUGE leading up to what we see in Phantom Menace and beyond. What better way to change the way of the Jedi and influence than from within. These are just my thoughts. Love the video, and content you guys put out and thank you for being impartial and letting Disney cook in this series and not bashing it for clicks!

The two lines I find curious in this episode are Vernestra saying they were all killed by a lightsaber, which clearly Yord wasn’t. The other is Qimir using the exact phrase “power of two” to describe what he wants, suggesting a definite connection to the witches, but possibly also that what he wants is something unique to Osha / Mae, not necessarily referring just to the rule of two.

Dear Molly and Alex, Albert here (formerly 'The Star Wars Podcast' on the @TopicArchives). I just want to say how grateful I am for who you both are, for the positive and thoughtful energy you put out into existence, and for the outlet and community you've created with your show to give form to all of it. You alongside Friends of the Force are bastions standing against what often feels like a constantly rising tide of cynicism, jadedness in this world (I'm a millennial that remembers a time before the dark times, before the Algorithm/Social Media), and too often openly hostile rage-wagoning. I just wanted to say, please continue what you're doing. The 'silent majority, vocal minority' dynamic is in full swing in this (IMO) exceedingly entitled, energetically scarce and nihilistic world, so while you sometimes may not see it, your comment sections will eventually be fully reflective of the vibrant and grateful community you have out there. Its only a matter of time. The light will prevail, I know it. At least you give me hope that it will :) Please keep going, in a way I realised I was not/am no longer able to. Seeing you both do what you do, brings more than a measure of solace that the positivity-and-inclusiveness movement in the online Star Wars community I left behind is alive and well. Again, thank you both so much -- your outlook and civility go further towards making the planet and species better than you can know. Thank you for keeping the flame of treating each other with more decency (as it was in the 90s) alive and well :) Kindest regards from Australia, Albert

I think Vernestra is the "kill the dream" moment that Qimir talked about. She was his master and she has been covering up her mistakes from the council and she's already on the verge of losing the dream. Imagine being 116 and having so much baggage, and constantly sweeping them under the rug. Just from the way she looks, she looks constantly tired, and exhausted with little emotion in her voice, and the only time you hear her voice go any higher than a low is when she says to the other Jedi who suggested that Sol might of been the culprit that it was a serious accusation, almost like a subtle light bulb went on in her head. She's perfectly willing to let Sol go under the bus if its to her benefit. I don't think she's a Sith, I think she's made huge mistakes and she's hiding them cause of the shame and the implications they could bring on her.

However some have pointed out and even cited passages in all her books that the red flags of her being cagey on certain things, keeping things to herself, etc were always there from the start. Guess we gotta wait until Trials of the Jedi, the final adult novel of Phase 3, to see what else could happen for her to become the politically shackled Jolly Green Jedi we see in the Acolyte.

The themes of cosmic horror and Star Wars fundamentally do not mix, so cosmic horror monsters have no real place in it. Shoehorning them in just results in yet another embodiment of the Dark side. I think we’d probably have the same conversation about Anakin if we only had The Clone Wars to go off of and suddenly he goes Dark Side and people are like, whaaaat that feels far fetched. Also with Ray Stevenson passed I don’t think we’ll be doing much with that storyline, at least as it pertains to his particular journey.

@422katieleigh I’m wondering if you said that backwards, because that’s EXACTLY how we felt when we only had ROTS. How could Anakin fall so quickly and easily? It wasn’t until we got TCW that we got a little deeper look into what led up to it.

@@SraMacaco I see your point, but no I didn’t say it backward. Aside from a few episodes with 🚩🚩 he was a good, kind, reasonable person for 90% of TCW. But he was mostly a whiny petulant creep for two full movies before he fell in RoTS so when he finally did, it felt like a foregone conclusion. To me anyway.

I think Vernestra pulled a Jake Skywalker and sensed that Qimir was falling to the dark side. She tried to kill him to stop him from becoming Sith, which ironically facilitated him becoming a Sith.

It's a little frustrating that shows like Ahsoka came and went without really much happening and then we have to wait 3 or more years to get more story. It's been a year since the first season of Ahsoka and they haven't even started the next season yet.

I think there are two options: Vernestra gave him the scar but he's lying about the context. Or Vernestra wasn't involved at all, and the writers set this up so we'd be able to easily guess 2 twists in a row so that now when the twist ISN'T the thing they foreshadowed it's an actual surprise. Which might explain why the first two twists were so easily guessable. Setting us up for the fall so to speak.

Whenever Vernestra uses the whip against an adversary, she doesn't just scar them, she does something (cuts off a hand in Tales of Light and Life). So why use her whip to just scar Qimir???

I personally think the stun blast was just stopped with the force kind of like how Vader stops blasts with his hand in Empire Strikes Back. That said, maybe maybe it's the helmet because stun blasts ripple through the body to give a concussion. That would mean Ahsoka would have more brain damage than an NFL player, but Star Wars isn't fun when you try to get that granular on consistency anyway!

I prefer seeing reveals in the story itself instead of hearing about it by the creators. If they want us to know which planet it is, why say "Unknown Planet" in the episode and then immediately come out in interviews with the answer
