I feel like you can really see the difference between influencers and content creators on skincare KZread. Cause some of them are literally teaching biology and some of them are just out here slinging product lol

I was just saying this about a certain OG guru who now touts this "lavish" soft life but it's starting to become low key "look at me and be envious" behind the guise of "use me as motivation to do better", which implies her life is "better". If u look where she and others like her started out with and see their transformation, u realize the morph from honest interest to paid promotion was subtle yet profound. One recently did a perfume review (the next trendy influencer) and she spoke on these uber expensive fragrances while saying back handed insults if u couldn't afford what she mentioned. I felt it was tasteless but I knew saying anything but yesss girl would just fall in the void and her stans would irritate my teeth.....so i lived and let live. I feel this is somewhat safer space here 😅.

Influencers are now glorified telemarketers 😒

Another pet peeve of mine ... they want you to use their link/code to buy something they received for free 🤨😐😑

Things like this make me very glad I'm part of the generation whose word for "influencers" was "sellouts".

I used to feel bad about myself when other ppl were able to donate or cashapp a crap ton of money to their favorite creators and influencers, ESPECIALLY during livestreams. I would feel like a fake follower/subscriber. Now, I'm 100% content with only prying my wallet open whenever

I was about to leave the house but saw this pop up, so I had to sit back down! People have to realize that influencers are trying to make money and may not even like the product they are pushing. It's like TV commercials with paid actors. Happy New Year, looking forward to seeing you in 2024!

Not really all that applicable for this video, but if someone does want to learn about abusive relationships, "Why Does He Do That" by Lundy Bancroft is an illuminating look at abusive relationships. I just periodically like to point out that book exists, because the information is so critical

I hate when influencers and content creators talk down to viewers - blaming their viewers for why particular videos don’t work, why they “have” to make content they don’t want to, etc.

I agree with this 💯! Influences, to me, are like used cars salesmen... you really need to look under that hood and do your research before spending your $$. People are lonely and think spending money of what they are selling makes them part of something. Sad, really. Thank you for your insight! ❤

Recently I stopped following an influencer that has begun to demand money during their lives by stopping the broadcast and putting a sign up stating the various ways you can send them money.

It’s allllll good! Folks are out in these skreets, simply trying to make their coints! It’s up to us to use our discretion and discernment. Stay safe folks! 😊

I think parasociality is inherent to this medium. There are thousands of people doing the same topics and we find the ones we like, the ones we feel a connection to. We are social creatures, after all. But we do need to recognise this and not invest our identity in them.
