Rihanna's "weird" and "a sellout"? Everybody hates Chris (Brown)? Big RED boots?! | Lukewarm Ti

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Fresh off a plane with some Lukewarm Ti to talk about #rihanna and her second pregnancy announcement, her...interesting...comment about her son, her British Vogue cover and whether she's a hypocrite and a sellout for performing at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show. I'ma also get into all the #chrisbrown drama, including that Blueface person clapping back. The most important thing is that I want those #mschf Astroboy boots and I don't care what anyone says about it.

@Warehouse Kidd I agree. I never believed in separating the art from the artist. I read a great article on a very famous author and the title mentioned something about how separating the art from the artist is not an option. In my opinion, there would be no art, if the artist didn’t exist! So, how can anyone really separate the art from the artist?? Especially when they are singing about sex, but the sexual intercourse is not consensual and they are also a predator and groomer of children and adults? It doesn’t make sense. I wish we lived in a better world.

The problem with Chris Brown situation is, while he considers himself a 17-year-old kid who made a mistake (that he didn’t even reference by name in the Instagram post btw-it’s called assault), the world sees a man who beat a woman. The images of Rih that leaked after that incident will always be stamped in our culture’s memory and that is what we see, not his baby face. As a victim myself, I hate the “I made a mistake” excuse bc the victim’s trauma afterwards lasts forever. I see nothing wrong with the ramifications lasting just as long and Chris Brown being cancelled.

I don't think Rihanna forgave Chris. I think she was sold the 'don't ruin a Bm' card along with the fact that she was in an industry where Bm are prevalent and could ruin her career, and she opted to save herself and move on. Women in the entertainment industry are not allowed to speak on their traumas until they are veterans in the game. Even Kristin Chenoweth opted to not sue when she had life threatening injuries, because she would never have worked again. And she has come out and said she regrets not suing because she now has to manage lifelong pain from that injury. I believe one day we'll be hearing another side (what I believe to be the truth) from Rihanna in some Oprah sit-down interview when she releases an album in 5 years

    1. Rihanna is a billionaire business mogul and her baby daddy is a felonious struggle rapper. Why would she be in the back holding a baby? Males with mics love talking about "emasculating men" but fail to realize they do it to themselves. Step ya cookies up if you have a problem. 2. Cris Brown is a nonfactor, I'm just mad that black women especially DSBW are falling for his pandering 🙄 3. Rihanna don't have to miss out on a check. I'm sorry but when Collin (a biracial man) was bending a knee for his fallen brethren (mainly dark skin unambiguous black males) I didn't see any other prominent players take his side. In fact I saw everyone condemning him and being quiet causr they didn't want to lose a check. If every NFL player stood by him he wouldn't have been blackballed and real change within the NFL could've happened. So if black males aren't boycotting the NFL why should she?

Rihannas performance may have not been for a direct check but instead the promo for her brand and attention she gets for doing it. Celebrities do love attention! Until the men who are playing every day stand for something’s it’s not Rihanna’s responsibility to, I don’t think that’s fair. Let’s be honest the NFL is as American as apple pie. It’s not going anywhere, they just need to be constantly accountable similarly like the us govt. we’re here in the US supporting and living under a somewhat corrupt system but it’s not going anywhere so we must simply hold those in power accountable… it’s impossible to boycott the NFL 99% of people just won’t do it not even the black men playing, that’s how they make their living.

As a person with Caribbean background , I actually see Rihanna saying her baby is fine as in he’s good he’s taken care of he’s cute he’s perfect he’s rich def not he’s fine in American terms describing attraction to a mate but it is weird as in why does she need to say this? I think she’s insecure about his looks as in people are not doting over the baby being super cute as maybe they expected since she’s stunning and some people seem to think asap is good looking , people have been making comments about the baby’s forehead and nose under every post etc. Strange that she cares and has to remind people the baby is fine but I think that’s the reason. Typically when a celebrity posts their baby peoples comments refer to how cute or gorgeous the baby is, Rihanna’s baby like Blue Ivy got criticism or dissection of their looks immediately. I think the anti blackness and need to side step address it (by reminding people the baby is fine as in ok fine) is the strangest thing here.

I feel like Janelle Monàe wore those Big Red Boots the best from the pictures i've seen of them so far; it may have to do with her proportions/features being adorably youthful already that it really matches the cartoonish shape and colour of the boots. It's such a cute fit on her! 😭 I'm subscribed to a fashion vlogger that recently bought boots that look drawstring leather duffle bags, and she knows her subscribers will hate the way they look but she said she couldn't get them out of their mind. I didn't like them either, but if she loves them i can't fault her for getting them if they bring happiness and novelty in her life, no matter how bizarre they seem to look. Coming from a creative background, i can understand that feeling of chasing after something that shakes up perceptions of good or bad design, even if you might get flack for it. Besides, her sense of style just so magnificent normally that i'm actually quite curious to see how she'll make those boots work for her.

I see fashion as art. I studied art history in high school. Many people in the past were ridiculed for their art and died paupers then 50 years later people would say how amazing they were as artists. The creative industry is literally people expressing their art. So unless people really sit down and analyse the creative process, them saying they" hate" is just an irrelevant noise in my neurodivergent brain. People always say they hate lawyer but as someone who studied the legal process, they will say that until a law saves their bacon.

Chris Brown and anyone else who thinks abusive behavior is excusable need actual help. I'm talking serious therapy and anger management skills, maybe even trauma therapy in a lot of cases. The current generation I feel has sacrificed economic awareness for over-awareness for social and cultural issues, bordering on insecurity. I think it speaks volumes that I’ve heard astronomically more discourse on something as inconsequential as that fucking Vogue cover and what it might mean for the role of Men™️ in relationships as opposed to the infinitely more valid critique against Rihanna’s hypocrisy for ultimately succumbing to the NFL’s money. At the same time though, I’m 24 years old, and it feels like that’s how it’s been all my life unless we were in the midst of an economic crisis. Nitpicking about cultural issues has become commonplace whereas economic awareness and the eternal class war have always taken the backseat. These two Rihanna-centric issues ultimately aren’t a big deal in isolation, but I think they’re a symptom of the current depressing trend of poor discourse prioritization. I'm from New Orleans and it's a common thing for people to call babies "fine" to describe a healthy or even chubby baby. It's like the highest compliment any old southern woman can give a baby lmao. Now what Rihanna meant by it, idk cus like you said adding the "idc idc idc" is what makes it weird 😬

He's whining because He. Is. Not. Happy. When you are content with your life you dont feel the need to speak on everything said about you. Ms Fenty is Bajan, it's very common to say a baby is fine among Africans and Carribeans, American blacks forget they are American first and black second to the rest of us, always centering every black experience around their own. She's correct she has a fine baby boy, he's gorgeous. She's a proud mama as she should be. What's weird is even going there, it's as normal to be maternally in love with your child, as it is to get ppd for some women. Can we stop casting side eyes at women and their babies, especially when they are not causing them harm.
