I don’t care where you and your husband had your first date. Good for you! Women are always trying to one up each other and it’s exhausting and irritating. We are not a MONOLITH. Why can’t women do what makes them happy in terms of what a “date” is and finding a mate ,or not, and keep it scooting? Geez🙄

There is a huge difference between not wanting a low effort date and wanting a super expensive date. I'm guessing the girl has tried the low effort thing, and she's over it.

My first date with my husband was an ice cream date. We've been married for 9 years. It's perfect; it doesn't have the pressure of dinner, it's less like a job interview than coffee. Plus, it's impossible to be in a bad mood when eating ice cream. It's science.

An ice cream date sounds like such a good time. Like, you can just get your cones, walk around, talk. You can see how playful they can be if they like idk try some weird ass flavor. Or how clean or thoughtful they can be if they get some napkins and not make a mess. It's chill. It's low stakes. It can be the start to a longer date, or end with no harm or foul.

This is in response to the icecream date. The kicker is that she won't be the next dudes problem as the ignorant guy commented. I asked my male friends about icecream dates and they agree that they simply don't do that. To be fair, they aren't icecream/coffee men. They were like, "I'm not taking no grown ass woman out for icecream. They are more steak and potatoes kind of guys Lol! We're also over 30 but to tell a woman she'll be another man's problem is incorrect. There are men who think icecream dates are juvenile, so she'll find someone.

I've worn a wedding band for the past 5 or 6 years and frequently wore engagement type rings prior to that going all the way back to high school (I developed quick and could pass as much older when not in my school uniform) just to get men to leave me alone. The worst part was it didn't always work with some of them insisting I'd prefer them over my (imaginary) partner or implying that they would violate me if they saw me out without said partner again, directly confirming that they believe women should only ever be seen in public as the property of a man lest they be fair game for all the others. And I'm terrified.
