that was exactly how I felt too, mate :3
She even said in an interview that it felt wrong to do a "pretty" version of the song since the character is basically at the bottom of a hole. I agree there's more emotion in the one she did then a "pretty" version.
Goosebumps and tears in my eyes. I can't wait to see the film. Amazing.
She sang it live and it only took one take. Seriously...amazing.
After learning how unique this production is from all movie musicals before it, I am anticipated the release of this one even more than I did a few days ago.
The shot when you see Marius, but then the focus shifts to Eponine. Chills! I already feel my heart breaking for her!
The marketing team behind this movie decided to tease us with a few Dif takes of this song. Anne did 22 takes on it when she filmed it
BEST MOVIE I have ever seen and feel probably will see. So powerful, tasteful, beautiful, elaborate, moving, raw, and redemptive. It deserves all the best awards. UNFORGETTABLE.
Amanda Seyfried is an established film actress with several hits under her belt (i.e. "Dear John," "Letters to Juliet," "Mamma Mia!"), thus her name is more known and she has more clout in the industry. Samantha Barks has never been in a film before. She's been mainly a stage performer. Nobody in America knows who she is, but I'm sure she'll get a lot of recognition after this movie opens.
I AM SO EXCITED and the fact that they're doing this live makes me so happy. I cry every time I hear Anne Hathaway sing this song. My all time favorite musical I will bawl!
I met Samantha Barks backstage after she was in "Oliver!" in Edinburgh and she was an absolute joy. Amazing performer and a really nice girl... it was raining soo hard and she took the time to stop and chat and have photos with everyone who was there (there werent many because of the weather). She said it was an amazing experience filming Les Mis and she cant wait for the film to come out! I hope this breaks her in the US too its rare to meet such a nice girl with that kind of talent.
All I have to say is... Very high quality. They put a lot of work into everything they have shown so far.
i am seriously going to see this 10 times in theaters, and sing along every time
Beautiful.
'Javerts suicide' has to be the scene/song that will make or break this movie for me. I fell in love with the musical because of that song.
Beautiful
Wow!! This take of Annes singing is head and shoulders better than in the first trailer!! I have renewed faith in Anne as Fantine!!
I am soooo Happy that Samantha Banks is playing Eponine! She was amazing in the 25th Anniversary concert!
OH MY GOD THIS NEW CUT IS AMAZING.
I cried when it went from live Cossette to illustration Cosette.
This movie was amazing. I always tear up with this song. My favorite.
Anne Hathaway is going to win the best supporting actress Oscar, period. Not since Jennifer Hudson in "Dreamgirls" has an actress in a tuner so seized the screen. Every last professional colleague in the Industry/Academy ranks, even those who don't love the film, has called this a done deal since the NYC and LA press screenings in mid-December, where Ms. Hathaway got an ovation from hard-bitten journalists including this one. Unforgettable and heart-breaking commitment.
I am thrilled beyond belief for this movie.
Every time I watch this I get shivers...ahh I can't believe it's finally happening. So excited!!
this thing made me cry....thanks
still gives me goosebumps
im crying.. and this is just the trailer. i cant wait ♥
I've got so much love for this movie already. I am currently not in my country, and where I am right now, the movie's release date is February 22nd. I honestly don't know how I will cope with not seeing the movie until then. I ... just cannot wait.
For those people concerned about the change in Hathaway's recording, to put your minds at ease, it isn't a dub or the work of post-processing. If you listen closely to the original teaser, you'll notice that the song has been made up of several different takes of Hathaway singing. Pay attention to the line "I dreamed that love would never die" in both trailers. They are distinctly different, and they've simply chosen the recording that works best for the scene.
My favorite play. Hands down
Amazing.....can't wait to see it
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this movie the right way! I can already tell it's going to be fantastic. Thank you!
anne voice is so sad that makes me cry , i didn't see the movie yet but she deserves an OSCAR
Looks amazing... can't wait for this one! Great talented cast.
*chills* ...I Can't Wait!!
LOVE THIS MOVIE
That said, only a select few in America probably know who Samantha Barks is, mainly musical theater geeks like us who bothered to rent the 25th Anniversary Concert. But ask several regular people and they'd be like, "Who?!" But come December, I'm sure more than just us die-hard "Les Miz" fans will know of her, especially if the movie is a huge success -- and what a great introduction that is!
It's because Amanda Seyfried is a "known" film actress - they're marketing the names that they know a wider variety of filmgoers will recognize. Since Sam has just been a little-known theatre actress prior to this point, it makes perfect sense that her name doesn't get top billing. I agree, though - I loved her in the 25th Anniversary and I think she's going to be totally fantastic as film Eponine. I literally almost screamed when I found out she had been cast.
I wouldn't say that. Anyone that has seen the 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 (I own the BluRay, absolutely LOVE it), knows extremely well who Samantha Barks is. Her performance in that concert earned her that spot in the film, and I have no doubt that she will completely own that part. To be honest, I am just really excited to see this film in two months. On one had, I wish they would give us more, but on the other, I really do NOT want to spoil the first time I see it on the big screen!
I get chills every time I hear this song
Love this
Looks fantastic.
chills. EVERY. TIME.
A lot of times in commercials and trailers, the producers use songs and then subtly cut out part of the song to make it fit in nicely with the video and they assume most people who are watching the video don't know the soundtrack but here they are wrong. Everyone knows "I Dreamed A Dream" and they could tell it was cut out.
the emotion in her voice has me in tears and this is just a trailer. i'm gonna be a wreck when i see the real deal.
Wow. I can't wait to see this. Anne Hathaway sounds amazing!!!
so happy i am one of those select few!! i am SOOO glad i am a theater geek and know who Samantha Barks is even before her casting was made public!! i was hoping that they would cast her all along and i am from America, and not even from NYC but from California!
I'm so excited to see it
I have such high hopes for this film. It looks astounding.
heartbreak and unrequited love written all over Eponine's face...
Awesome!
I love Les Misérables movie adaptions and the musical.
I'm bringing tissues for the entire movie theater.
I hate how people say Anne Hathaway can't sing !!!!! She does it with so much emotion and love if Fantine were real this is how I would picture her singing.
Aaaaaaahhhh!!! I can't believe that we have to wait until Christmas!!!!!
She plays it real, and it's a wonderfully moving performance in my opinion
Have yet to see the musical....but this looks incredible. I love the emotions.
this is like, the best christmas present i could ask for
Very well said!
cant wait!!!
Love it!
Susan Boyle sings the best version of it vocally but Anne does it so beautifully with so much emotion. By the way, I have awesome news which is Anne Hathaway nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Academy Award. She has to win hands down!
I KNEW I wasn't just hearing things! It's like they kept some of the vocal lines and substituted others for prettier sounding phrases. They remastered the quality too.
I get chills everytime I see this trailer! I have always loved the book and I can't wait to see this movie!
like. 5-6 new shots. pretty cool. gotta love the last part with little cossett
Wonderfulll!
Shot of Eponine at the gate and Cosette fading into the logo...gahh, it kills me every time.
Beautiful! Amazing! Breathtaking! Magnificent! A Masterpiece!
Why must we wait so long! the anticipation is killing me!
Great song !!!
Can't wait. Going to see it with my stepbrother tomorrow.
I KNOW! I'm literally can't wait till I see this movie! And Samantha is the one I'm most excited about!
This soundtrack is going to be amazing
probably the best movie trailer ever made
Anne Hathaway was incredible as Fantine! This part brought me to tears! The raw emotions she show is just....amazing!
¡¡¡¡¡INCREIBLE!!!!!!
I hope that when the world sees her performance, she will become very well known :)
My emotions are on fire right now!
The same! :D I cant imagine how many tissues will I need to bring to have enough!! So emotional!
this is so fierce
her hair.... oh my God, I cryed when i saw that
there was a lot of sniffling and eye-watering in the theater when me and my friend went to see it. It's amazing the theater didn't flood
I almost cried watching this, I'm in trouble the day I'll watch this movie in the theater :) I Can't Wait!!!!
I NEED MORE!!!
Yes, I meant she's not mainstream. She's been mainly a stage performer... in Britain. In the US, we almost never hear about British TV shows/actors (unless they become a cultural phenomenon, a la "Downton Abbey"), let alone West End performers. Even in America, Broadway performers are not well-known nationally, unless they cross over to TV or films, like Lea Michele, for example. Even though she'd starred in several Broadway productions, she was unknown to the general public until "Glee."
Thank you! I looked it up and they look awesome! :) And yes I'm really hoping he's good because Javert is one of my favourite characters hehe :)
I never knew she was a singer either. Can't recall her singing in any of her previous movies.
you can tell that tom hooper is doing some major rearrangements of scenes..eponine (sam) is wearing the same outfit for the on my own song and a heart full of love BUT she is wearing a different outfit for One Day More and A little fall of rain! meaning that now On My Own is going to be either right after Attack of Rue Plumet or after A Heart full of love... OH GOSH what if they completely take out attack of rue plumet, thats one of my favorite scenes..guess ill wait and see, excited either way!
Right in the feels!
oh man, i remember watching the anime of this. most of the time it was boring but there were some awesome moments! like how jean valjean gets cosette to the tardiers and the chasing javert.
She was the BEST thing about the movie
There's one shot of Russel Crowe as Javert - right after his name comes up, where he has a confused and somewhat scared look on his face. I immediately thought Philip Quast when I saw it.
Hugh Jackson NEEDS an Oscar after this!!
oh my gads, i can no longer wait!
omg thank you for this comment. it brought tears to my eyes and reminded me why i adore eponine so much.
I cannot wait Its going to be good
muy buena pelicula me gusta
I think she sang pretty good, considering that she was crying. I know it must be extremely difficult to be able to keep your voice under control when you're also trying to hold back tears! I love the emotion she put into her character, it is very deep and moving.
I think she'll become well known from this performance.
The best movie ♥
