    It is really amazing and strange that when these two guys fight Lewis is always the one who chases the other one to fight like having a dominant right. Also I can see from this match that Lewis already had the power to win the 1984 superheavyweight Olympics gold medal.

    Lewis was clearly not ready for Mike during the 80s. He was losing to someone like Biggs at amateur level while Mike won 10 championship fights during the 80s. No comparison here. Lewis also lost to Ruddock in 80s. It took him longer to reached his peak. Tyson was early bloomer as Lennox said.

  • @MandoGuerrero2
    @MandoGuerrero215 жыл бұрын

    Neither Tyson nor Ruddock were ever the same after their two wars. Tyson clearly won both fights but they both took hard shots. Tyson has said that of all of his fights, Ruddock hit the hardest. Not taking anything away from anyone, but styles make fights as well. Whatever any fighter did against another doesn't make them better or worse than any other fighter who may have fought the same dudes. Having said that, I think Lewis was the best of his era.

    @madmax8903 hindsight's a wonderful thing. lewis was so outclassed in this fight no one could possibly forecast your vision from this fight in 1984. aggression means nothing if your opponent is making you hit nothing but air or he's rolling and countering all day, beating you to the punch, working so many angles you don't even know where you are, never mind him. biggs became prone to exchanges when he went pro&fought his opponent's fight rather than sticking to a formula that worked.

    @CoronaJoe i cant agree with you. The 1986-88 Tyson just had 100% percent confidence in himself. He had Jacobs, Rooney and Lott to put him straight when he felt doubts. Lennox Lewis was actually king of an era when HW's started to become bigger, more out of shape and lazier. Its no coincidence the guy who gave him his hardest "boxing test" an old former heart attack victim in the ring Evander Holyfield was of the same ilk of 80's tyson. small, fast, highoutput. Tyson kos lewis busts him up

    Mr. Biggs was a good boxer but when he faced Mr. Tyson(as a pro) he made the mistake of going toe to toe with Mr. Tyson and was KO for it. And after that lose he was never the same. Someone put down that Mr. Holyfield would have won if he were in his prime against a young Mr. Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a true Heavy weight and I think it was Mr. Holyfields boxing knowledge and good chin plus heart that kept him from being KO'd in both pro fights, so I humbly think.

    Why do so many people over rate Mike Tyson so much? I guess it's his very appealing style, and "bad ass" attitude that deludes fans into thinking he was some immortal killing machine. You are aware I'm sure, that Mike was eliminated in the Olympic trials this very year, didn't make the team. He lost 2 decisions to Henry Tillman, looked like crap in both (saw them live on CBS). I was always a big Mike fan, but he would have lost to Lewis in 1984 in the same fashion he lost to him in 2002.

    @CoronaJoe That's also a version of Tyson saying that who was loaded up on drugs and had no confidence left. It's interesting even watching Tyson's interview on Charlie Rose where he is played an interview of his youthful self and looks surprised at how confident he was. That's the difference. Same reason why I don't hold Joe Louis's comments about Marciano beating him considering it was a Shell of Louis talking and he had already beat someone somewhat similar in Arturo Godoy...

    Tyrell added punching while keeping range smoothly. Punching quick mid-range, then using a shoulder to block with a semi-Philly shell Able to punch to the body fast from a counter left to right quick Able to come in with a quick combo, back up, get punches landed on, then return smoothly. I can name more, but I don't have to. Ali clinched a lot,bounced too much, which Joe/karl/Cooper began to be able to read and countered him easily,had hands down low often,used head movement but not the way modern used it, which was head blocking with hands., Its very obvious len would destroy ali

    Well, of course Mike wasn't the best he could be that night, and all the reasons you mention are valid. That being said, he didn't have the SKILLS needed to adapt, or ever attempt to adapt. All the greats have had mental/ physical issues to deal with, they came through. I can moments in most other all time greats careers, where they showed how great they were..coming from behind, getting up to win, fighting out of their comfort zone, showing true heart and grit..can't say that for Mike.

    There were great fighters in his era, but he lost to them, by KO. The fighters he beat early in his career were almost all in their late 30's, and had already been handing the belts back and forth. Around the same, Sugar Ray Leanord, Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran were fighting each other and other fighters..the press dubbed it the "senior tour"..well, these guys were the same age or even younger than the guys Tyson was taking belts from. He dominated early, due to his competition.

    Biggs was already addicted to Coke before the Olympics, his whole life has been related to drugs and alcohol probs. He had the talent to take over from Larry Holmes. Shocking that he threw it all away. Lewis was just an 18 yr old kid in this fight. Contrary to what some believe Tyson would not have won a gold medal at the Olympics, the Italian Angelo Musone would have won the gold, he was robbed by the pro US scoring, as was William DeWitt in the final.

    I think being stunned like that should be the same as being knocked down since I've seen fighters get knocked down and not look as hurt with "flash-knockdowns". Tyson is just able to take bigger shots so don't knock him if he doesn't suffer "flash-knockdowns" early. Tyson was also considered a "small" HW in his era given it was the new era of Super-Heavyweights. So he wasn't as lucky as some say with his era.

    How can you rate someone as being the best ever, based on wins over guys like Pinklon Thomas or Frank Bruno? He never beat a co-great from his era, he never avenged a loss, never came from behind or got up to win. He was a great fighter for sure (I have him #8, watch my video...lol), but he had weaknesses, both physical and mental. He had no idea how to deal with adversity. Anyone rating him higher than 6th, whether based on skills or accomplishments, is over rating him....in my opinion.

    @madmax8903 my point is that there is nothing in this fight that distinguishes lewis as having more potential to compete as a pro than biggs or even possessing particular potential as a pro disregarding the fact that Biggs completely outclassed him via amateur or professional standards. 'aggressive'? where?? biggs completely controlled the fight&the ring. when lewis did attempt to cut the ring or pressure, biggs very easily angled, countered & even backed him up. 1988, i can see it, not here.

Holy was way more ring worn...he was just that much better. People make the shot excuse, but forget to realize the greats he lost to weren't exactly in their primes either.

    which is why tyson was stripped of the WBC for not fighting lewis, WBA asked him to fight Holyfield, WBC asked him to fight Lewis. these are mandatory defenses, he chose Holyfield cause Holyfield was a bigger Draw, so the WBC stripped him for not fighting Lewis. why would he pay Lewis when he is stripped of his belt anyway?? their are laws, and paying someone doesnt get u out of fights, because its not in the fighters hands, its in the belt organizations hand.

  • @thelordmemnoch
    @thelordmemnoch13 жыл бұрын

    @Thehwchampionotw I don't think so. A 36 year old Lennox Lewis loses by knock out to the Ray Mercer he fought years ago. Lewis was pretty much knocked into retirement by Vitali when they fought. Had Lennox been 29 he would not have had a problem with him so I disagree. Granted big heavyweights do mature later than most fighters, due to their reliance on a KO punch which never leaves them, but a 29 year old Lennox beats a 36 year old Lennox any day of the week. Simply put 36 isn't prime at all.

    @Thehwchampionotw Basically saying that a 29 year old Lennox is better than a 36 year old Lennox. To say that a fighter is better at 36 than he was at 26 is really stretching. I am sure there are exepctions, but that is not the norm. Thirty six is not prime by any stretch of the imagination. Assuming a fighter is even fighting at that age, he is rarely beating anybody noteworthy and very few are champions at that age. Only two heavyweights have won after the age of 36. Walcott and Foreman.

    I think Lewis' size and jab would be too much for Mike. It would have frustrated him, and he would have started losing it early. To quote Mike himself, he could never have beaten Lewis, he's too big and strong. If he didn't catch Lewis early, he would have been in for a long night. Lewis would probably have stopped him even earlier than he eventually did, as Mike would have been more aggressive, and open to counters....etc etc... As for Holyfield....would have been a great fight.

    Biggs battered Lewis there. Lewis reckless with a lot of learning to do at this point. Evidence also of his suspect chin when getting wobbled in third. Lewis was wiped out twice with one shot as a pro. He’s the only heavyweight ‘great’ to get taken out with one punch, without taking much punishment beforehand. McCall took him out in 2 rounds! You had to kill both Holy and Tyson to beat them! Same goes for Holmes,Foreman, Frazier and Ali! You’re never taking these guys out with one shot.

    Biggs and Lewis fought again in the pro's 1991 and Lewis won by third round TKO. Biggs was done as a fighter after the Tyson fight though.

    and of course at that time, holyfield was a much bigger draw than lewis, and we all know how money hungry don king was. he controlled it, stop accusing tyson of anything, Google said Don King, not tyson. Don King is a promoter, thats what they do. if it was tyson, the WBC would have stripped him of his belt, read my reply from last month

    Prime Lennox lost to Prime Biggs, Prime Biggs lost to Prime Tyson, then way past prime drugged, broken, jailed Tyson and past prime Biggs lost to past prime Lennox😂 That too Lennox took 8 rounds I guess to defeat already dead Tyson😂 It means Tyson could rip off Lennox ass in 80's👍

    I never said he was the same fighter, I said the results would be the same, as I don't think early Mike was as indestructable as his flash KO's of tomato cans made him appear to some people.

    just like Tyson beat a prime pre-drug problem Tucker who was also tall, had a long jab, etc. And of course to go on about "I would have won if...." would make him sound like a sore loser. Lewis still had trouble with Mercer. And was knocked out by McCall and Rahman so it's possible a prime Tyson wins.

    He encountered adversity when he met better competition. The versions of Lewis and Holy that Mike fought would have beaten the younger Tyson too..in my opinion. I dont get why so many Mike fans pass off the Douglas fight, with nothing but excuses for Mike..It wasn't like he was caught with a lucky shot, he was systematically dismanted. He had no clue what to do when his opponent didn't fall down, just kept throwing the same combos that had worked so well in the past, had no idea how to adapt.

    Le Fez why can’t you say Lennox was a slow bloomer and carefully matched in his early in his career. He was older than Bowe and just younger than Evander, not gonna even mention Tyson.

    If you're going to toss your "facts" out there, you might want to check them first bud. Lewis stomped Biggs as a professional, in 1991. He KO'ed him in the 3rd round. By the way, Biggs didn't just beat Lewis in the amatuers, he also beat your boy Mikey. I was and am a big Mike Tyson fan, followed his entire career, but man his die hard fans are almost always the most ignorant boxing fans out there. Most who think Mike was the best ever, think Sonny Liston was married to Cher..lol.

    This shows Lennox Lewis is an overrated glass-chinned,boring and slow loser. He was so skinny against Biggs.What a genetical skinny guy this Lennox. And he was the worst athlete in a "The Superstars" contest in 1998 in his prime years. It's ridicolous. Lewis hadn't era in pro.He won only one undisputed heavyweight world championship fight.
