The best concert I ever saw was Peter Frampton. It was in Arizona around 1977. I had cheap tickets, but as the concert progressed, My girlfriend and I made our way towards the front to join a small group that began encircling the stage. It was obvious he really loved connecting with the audience. I think he did three encores. As I recall, during the last one he was sitting on the front of the stage with an acoustic guitar. He was only about 10 or 15 feet away from where we were standing. One of my favorite memories of all time. Thank you Peter Frampton!

My long experience with many top artists in the production end caused me to think the opposite. Those with true enduring talent tended to be down to earth and easy to work with. It was the young players with an image to protect who were jerks and they usually were short lived in the industry. Those who had long creative careers seemed to appreciate their popularity and treated production people, road crews and audiences with kind respect. I can only remember two who I refused to have further contact. One was kicked out of my studio mid album for molesting a female staff member. His initials RJ. The other which I was not recording but part of a large charity fund raising performance was John Denver...a total jerk to everyone who were all volunteers and some were much bigger stars than he was. It is the wannabees who developed attitudes and surely one reason their careers were short. Giving a hard time to your production teams, and audiences was a good way of blowing a career opportunity. Luckily I seldom dealt with the inflated egos of minor stars and I could pick and choose what album projects got studio time in my 3 studio complex.

Would love to hear more about how he evolved his style, his influences, as well as his friendship with Bowie - from childhood mates to both becoming massive superstars in the '70s and, later, _Glass Spider._ Such a... _humble guy._ Could listen to Frampton tell stories for hours. Eventually my bro gave me that lovely piece of vinyl and i still have it today! Heard Mr. Frampton & his band live here about 10 years back, at the Erie County Fair, and they were even more amazing in person, despite some awful weather (outside stage) It was hot, ridiculously humid, grey drizzly or pouring at will, no breeze, no hope, but somehow they picked us all up with their great attitude and energy. *Side Note-- As someone that also suffers from the rare disease Dermatomyositis, I'm sad for Mr. Frampton that he has it, but very glad to have such a wonderful and engaged spokesperson for our debilitating and little known illness. An old boss of mine worked as a music critic and columnist locally in the 70's and 80's and told me something interesting about Peter Frampton. Peter was a big part of why George Benson started performing a couple pop songs on his albums. My boss was interviewing George and asking about putting a couple pop songs with vocals on his album, one of which had been a small hit. George told a story where he had a show at a local jazz club the same night Frampton was performing at a nearby arena. After his show Peter came by to see George. After George had completed his set Frampton sat down with him telling George what a big fan he was and what an influence he had been. Benson's only thought was Frampton just played to a packed arena while he was performing in a club and some nights there were more people on the stage then in the audience. He decided to start performing a couple pop songs on his albums shortly after that meeting to expand his audience.

I was never crazy about live albums of material on prior records, except the Grateful Dead because, live was always better examples their playing and writing than the albums. But "Frampton Comes Alive" was simply the most enjoyable album, live or studio and I played the heck out of it. I was in the recording business so did not want to listen to too many albums for fear of following someone else's wagon tracks. It was successful for so many reasons and crossed many genres. The coolest part was Peter was one of the authentic "good guys" in the field. One of the other reasons I was very attached to that album was that my life at the time resonated with it. How did I know it was the great Peter Frampton? Bob Mayo on keyboards. Bob Mayo. 😄 My dad was a letter carrier and knew a guy who had a 66 Mustang on one his route. He asked the guy if he wanted to sell it and the guy said no. The Mustang just sat there rotting away month after month. Finally the guy approached my dad and ask him if he still interested in the car. My dad bought the car and had it towed home because the driveshaft and transmission were in the trunk. The windows had been left down, so my job was to clean the interior out and get the car ready for us to work on it. Under the seat I found Frampton Comes Alive on 8-track, so I put a battery in the car and jammed to some Frampton while we worked on the car. Great memories! The MAGIC has never diminished. I grew up with fireflies in upstate N.Y. Love your show, great insights, no b.s. 😅 💙🎶💙🎶💙 Looking forward to Petey Pie's biographical documentary shooting in the U.K. soon. Perhaps there's also an Oscar or Emmy in his future.

I was only 6 years old when the album came out but I knew it well, as my older siblings had the album. They played it a lot!! Played it so much, they kept wearing out the needle on the phonograph. Thank goodness for spares!! Flash forward about a decade, my friend purchased a 1976 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible and installed a new, state of the art sound system in it. Unlike anything I had ever seen at the time. It was the first CD player I had ever seen and the album of choice was Frampton Comes Alive. We cruised for HOURS, blasting the music everywhere we went. I literally lost track of my surroundings as I felt like I was actually at the Concert. My soul was touched that day as I got lost in the beautiful tunes coming at me from every direction. It gave a whole new meaning to "Do You Feel Like I Do?", let me tell you. I felt like I had been to Heaven and witnessed the greatest performance the Angels could possibly give. Fast forward another decade, the Landscape business I worked for was called upon for an estimate to redesign the entire landscape at a home in the Cincinnati area. It belonged to none other than Mr. Frampton, himself. My encounter with him was extremely brief, but the experience was forever memorable. To this day, every time I hear a Frampton song come on, the volume gets CRANKED UP!!! He'll always be ROCK GOD ROYALTY in my book!!

I remember when this double live album came out. I was a 14 year old burn out beginning rock musician. The talk box in Do You Feel Like We Do blew my mind. A couple of songs on the record would become classic rock staples. At the time I knew they were infectious, memorable, and felt darn good. I was really into music but I hadn't heard of Peter Frampton before. The double record comes along and for the next several decades it stood as one of the best selling live albums of all time. The keyboard solo in Baby I Love Your Way by Bob Mayo is incredibly beautiful. Frampton stamped his mark on 70s classic rock with power and class.

Frampton Comes Alive is incredible. Truly one of the best albums of live music ever made. Its emotion interwoven with musical brilliance. When it first came out in the 70s their wasn't one person who wasn't touched in some way by its poetic beauty. Every song on it was a masterpiece. Very few artists can say that about their work. Even if Peter Frampton had never written or played again after he made this album he would still have a high place in musical history. It's that good.

About one year before Frampton Comes Alive was released Peter was on tour with a band called Frampton's Camel. Frampton's Camel was paid $8,000 by my school, Eastern Illinois University, to perform a concert for the student body. As the head rock DJ at WEIU, our college station, I was able to go into the locker room for an interview with Peter after the show. He was so nice and so genuine, he was easy to talk to. At the end of the interview I offered some pot; Peter smiled and said "No drugs on a gig." Very softly spoken and very professional. Many of the same great songs as Frampton Comes Alive, but as a studio record it went nowhere. The live version captured the magic - forever,

I think I was in 9th grade when that album came out and do you feel like I do was all over the radio. So it reminds me of growing up in the small town I lived in back then. Guitar lessons, school, jamming with my friends, watching our older friends band rehearsals at the grade school music room on week nights. Then later on becoming a part of the older guys band like a dream come true. Everything was so different then, I not sure how to explain what that difference is but I know those feelings have faded away over the years. My whole world was surrounded by the music of that time and playing all those songs in what ever band I was in at that time. Of course that also varied from band to band. I was involved with three bands at once back then at one point. I don’t know how I managed that but I was always somewhere and figuring out how I was going to get from here to the next place on the schedule. Kept me busy and out of the house and out of jail for sure so I suppose that was the positive that shines through the negatives. Thank you… good night…

Kris came out and sang Me and Bobbi McGee and Sunday morning coming down which at the time I had no idea that he wrote those songs.
