I've actually had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Frampton and I have to say he's the humblest person I've ever met, celebrity or not. This interview shows just that!!! He's the REAL DEAL and nothing less!! A genuine LEGEND and he doesn't even see himself like that. Even when other Legends request his expertise! He's so down-to-earth and so pleasant to converse with, extremely smart and talented at everything he does. It doesn't even have to pertain to music, either. Just an overall pleasant person to be around. Never a dull moment around him!!

I heard the same thing about him even at the top of his fame. Just my gut feeling but I think a lot of the wrinkled white-haired old rockers are happy youngsters like the professor are interested in their careers/songs. All the songs/artists are from my heyday and its fun to hear background stories how the songs came together.

I was Program Director of a Rock station in Tampa in the early 90’s and interviewed Peter for my afternoon drive show. He was exactly the same as he was in your interview. Humble, self deprecating and a complete gentleman. Total class act.

Peter is such a humble, down-to-earth guy. Great interview.

One of my favourite guitarists all-time and I would love to meet him! Him, Jeff Beck, and Mark Knopfler are the British big 3 on my list! I've met many of my guitar and musical idols like Neal Schon, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, SRV, Stanley Jordan and numerous others, but Frampton still tops the list. I was learning saxophone as a child. I loved guitar but it just didn't work! I could play by ear so I learned guitar solos on alto sax. "Show Me The Way" was the first of his songs. I love then and still now cranking up the stereo playing along with "Do You Feel Like We Do!" When PF was living in Cincinnati I tried to get there. I know people there and tried but could never time it right. Now with his illness, he's not touring much if at all. I hope he still makes music for us to enjoy!

I loved when Frampton was referenced in Wayne's World 2. "Exqueese me? Have I seen this one before? "Frampton Comes Alive"? Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of "Tide".

I'm always blessed with what a wonderfully humble guy Peter is. He feels like an old friend.

Peter is a guy who has known the pinnacle of success and then the depths of crashing back to earth. The business ate him up and spit him out.. but like a cat, he has landed on his feet and remained true to himself, his talent and his fans. Fingerprints is awesome.. seeing him win a Grammy for that was a long overdue and well deserved reward!

Awesome interview. Frampton Comes Alive! was one of the absolute cornerstones of life in the 70s. You had a copy, your friends had copies, your older siblings had copies...it was played at every party, dance and gathering. And when the albums warped, you went out and bought more copies.

My sister and I shared a copy and she had a huge poster of Peter Frampton on our bedroom wall. She wrote on the album cover with red nail polish that he was a Fox and 1/2. Then she took that one when we divided our records and promptly stored it on its side with all her other vinyl records in the garage, so all of them are gone. Grrr

I saw Mr Frampton as Bowie's guitarist ( they went to the same school ) on the 1987 Glass Spider tour and was wowed by his guitar chops. I saw him again co-headlining a tour with Cheap Trick and was blown away again. Awesome performer

yep and Peter Framptons Father was teacher and head of the art department at that school, (Bromley technical high school) and credited as well by D.Bowie as inspirational influence.

Saw him in '77 and again in 2019, nearly 42-years to the day apart. One of the greatest guitarists, bar none.

I saw Peter Frampton “Alive” in 2019, and he was amazing! The ladies in the audience were screaming like teenagers! Another great segment, Professor!

I saw Frampton in the mid 70's at RFK Stadium in D. C.. He was with Gary Write and Yes. When we arrived at the stadium, I wanted to find a good set of seats but my girlfriend dragged me down to the field in front of the bandstand so that she could see Peter up close and personal. We had one of the greatest experiences at a long list of concerts that day. Thanks Professor for a great look back!! 😎

Professor, if this is the only interview you ever did, it would be sufficient for a lifetime. You really did your homework! Just WOW! Amazing! And how generous is Peter with his time! You must have been freaking out at least a little, internally. Tremendous interview. Just the best. All good wishes!

He's one of the nicest, if not the nicest, musicians/rock stars I ever met. He was not the typical rock star; instead he was kind and humble, as well as being very funny. We had quite the startling introduction, and he handled it with grace, while I was hoping the earth would open up and swallow me...lol. What you see is what you get with him.

I met Peter Frampton in Nashville while pumping gas. I looked at the doorway and he walks out of the gas station. I was having a miserable day, that just turned into one of my most memorable moments of my life. What a very gracious and humble man that took the time to talk with me. I asked for autograph, it’s the worst you’ve ever seen. LoL. It looks nothing like his name, just scribble. I wished it was clearly written so I could display it. Note to anyone wanting to be a rock star, make your autograph clear, the autograph may mean more to the recipient than you’ll ever know

He has been diagnosed with a muscular disorder. He just finished his farewell tour. I live in Tenn and he lives in Nashville now. It’s not so much that he didn’t try to make his signature clear, he probably couldn’t help it.

Peter seems so honest and humble even though he's such a legend! He's got a history that other legends could be jealous of. Thanks for sharing the story of Peter Frampton's life with us!

His music has meant so much to me over the years, one of the nicest people to grace the stage. I saw him once live back in the day. Peter's music celebrates life.

Peter, I personally thank for the special gift you gave me ".Frampton Comes Alive" (personally signed to me) LP set from your personal collection. It is even labeled "not available for sale to the public" It is only one of about 20 made. My life long friend Bobby Rossi, whom runs Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater made it happen. I have it proudly framed in museum glass sitting right next to me. Thank you, it will go to my children. Tom:)

I used to change the station... My ex loved him (and every other guy she could get her hands on) so I was jealous of him as a youth living in L.A., Winnipeg, Vancouver. As I hit my seventies and listen to great interviews like this one, I've come to realize he is a very pleasant individual with real human feelings and ideas and memories worth sharing. I like him now and I've forgiven my ex - told her we all make mistakes and I'll forgive her if she would forgive me. Nice ending to what turned out to be a learning experience and great lesson in life. Remarried a Winnipeg girl and she has been the real deal for the last 44 years.

I bought the album ‘Frampton Comes Alive’ with my very first wage. It was the sound of Summer ‘76.

He’s exactly that kind of person. My wife (long before I met her) was working at a beach bar in Fort Lauderdale in the early 90s. Peter was scheduled to play at a club on the strip one evening but earlier in the day, she saw him out on the beach jamming with a local who always set up to play for tips. I can’t tell you how envious I am of her for that moment. His hair was already short by then, he had a scruffy beard, and very few people recognized him.

16 in 1976, 1st job, 1st paycheck, 1st album I bought, Frampton comes alive, it was played on radio constantly that year.

I remember when Frampton Comes Alive came out. HS & it was everywhere.

Adam, I am 29 years old, and my late father brought home our first DVD player when I was 10. On it, was Frampton’s “Show Me the Way” from Live In Detroit, and I fell in love with his music. Over the years, I have seen him live 14 times in person, and I’ll be flying to the UK this November to see him for the 15th time! “Show Me the Way” has always been my favorite song ever, and nothing can top it for me! Thank you for this channel, I was born in the wrong generation when it comes to music!

I was a huge Frampton fan after the live album hit. I even bought a Les Paul Custom like his. Love his music, but don't forget to give him cred for being a top-shelf guitar player.

I can't stop loving this guy. He's the gentleman of classic rock. Can't find a nicer guy

Bob Mayo on the keyboards, Bob Mayo. I always enjoyed seeing Frampton tour with Bob Mayo. Frampton will always hold a special place to me in music history. I was a fan before the live album and when his popularity waned in the 80s. Great interview Professor.

Died at age 52 while touring with Peter Frampton from a heart attack. His resume of the talent he worked with was impressive. "Bob Mayo on the keyboards, Bob Mayo."

Gosh Peter was so much of the 70's rock era I can't imagine my life without his music. It was in touch with that generation ☺️. His music was ride around town windows down blaring sing a long feel good time experience.

Was a teenager when rocky mountain way ,framtom comes alive was huge you couldn't go anywhere without hearing something off that album there was a band called Clearwater that had a song called mind ender that also used that box great song but never really got super popular and never heard much about them after that song Framton has always been a great guitarist as far back as his humble pie days to bad Steve Marriot passed before they could team back up again I have heard they were playing around with the idea right before his passing great interview thanx

How I love these stories. I regale my boyfriend with all this historical rock. When a song comes up as we're driving. I love that I got to meet Peter some time in the early 90s. He walked into a coffee roasting business that I managed and we stood together watching the beans go round and round. He was and still is adorable. I'm so grateful that I have these stories in my own life. Especially after working in the music biz in the 80s. just before the biz started to become dull and they were doing anything for a money grab. I miss those days so much.

Peter`s 1986 Premonition album is a great album! I bought the cassette when it came out. Every song is great on this one. All killer, with no filler. 81's Breaking all the rules album with going to L.A. is another one.

I was roadying for a garage band and sometimes sitting in as a harmonica player when I first heard the song and I can still recall my reaction, "What the hell is that?" I later picked up playing bass and it was the first song that I learned. Yea, it's one of those songs that has a lot of good memories from my youth.

Picture yourselves on a 20 foot royal blue pontoon boat with white stars and red stripes. Music speakers from front to back. On Torch Lake 19 miles long and going out for dinner almost to the other end, beautiful sunny evening , calm waters and you have the new Frampton Comes Alive playing. I was all the way in the front stretched out laying down listening while being gently spritzed with water now and then coming off the pontoons. All these years still a magical moment in my life. The greatest live album in my opinion.

Peter always comes across as the nicest person you could possibly hope to meet.

I LOVE this episode!! I saw Frampton at the Inglewood Forum in the late 70s and his was the first concert I attended. I was blown away to say the least! He is one of my all time favorite singers/performers and listen to his albums ALL the time and kept my vinyl records of his too. I really enjoyed this interview and LOVE your channel. Thank you so much for bringing us such great content!

Nice to see Peter is a down to earth guy. I love the weirdness of the talk box, Joe Walsh and Peter both do a great job and do not over do it. The steel pedal guitar was used in many songs in the 70s by Procol Harum, Humble Pie, Daltry and many I cannot think of right now.

I remember hearing Frampton Comes Alive when in came out in 1976. I was eight and heard when it was played by the older siblings of my friend. I was hooked.

He was sitting on the couch in his rented Bel Air house as I unloaded groceries on the counter. Peter Frampton looked petite and young, his long wavy hair in its prime. It was 1978, I had a connection to Peter. I wrote a review in the Santa Monica, CA High School paper “SAMOHI” called “Frampton Strives and Comes Alive”, I was voted “Closest resemblance to Peter Frampton“ in my high school yearbook, and I played guitar and sang “Show Me the Way” and “Baby I Love Your Way” in my band. So when I saw guitar pics on the counter with his name on them, I had to take one. I kept that Peter Frampton guitar pick for years and years. Must’ve lost it in the wash one day.

When I was a teen I looked just like Frampton…. The bad news is, I still do LOL! Bald dudes rule and so does Frampton. When he talks about being in Ah of other people as he did in this interview I just shake my head. He had massive influence over my age group (born 63). While the other artists he mentioned were big in the lives of my group of humans, Frampton was our #1 sound. There were others, Boston, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Kenny Loggins, and others, but Petter Frampton was always the level to where my musician friends and I would aspire to reach.

I heard Peter Frampton do Frampton live in 1976 in Montreal. They were the warm up band for Santana, man they blew the stadium away with that talk box. Great show.

He’s a great musician.

Peter Frampton was the headliner at the first concert I went to in July 1977. My brother had Frampton Comes Alive and we'd played it everyday since summer of '76. lineup was Santana, The Outlaws, Lynard Skynard and Frampton. What a fine day that was. : )

Out of all the albums released in 76, Frampton Comes Alive s the one that was being played at every party I went to! Every friends house, my house! I was a kid of just 13 at the time. But having a sister 10 years older and a brother 5 years older I had many influences. Not to mention my twin sister in the bedroom next door playing KC & The Sunshine Band, Leo Sayer.... I am so thankful for all these influences. Being a drummer who started playing around this time all of this music made me a better drummer. Man remembering the clips, photos of Frampton and his band I would see back then, I lusted after a big deep shelled set of Ludwigs! If I could just go back for a day! Thank you so much Professor. Keep the memories coming!

Brilliant. I remember hearing this on American Top 40, driving up to Springfield, Mo, and went straight to Tower Records in the Plaza, bought the album & 8 track. By the time I got home I was emotionally sky high. 🙏🏼

I have a talkbox and used it a lot in the early 2000s, so "Man in the Box" and other stuff came to the set list. Having your guitar's distortion blasting your fillings is an experience for sure.

@SteverRob. I used to follow an Eagles tribute band here in the U.K., and they would include Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way". The lead guitarist tried a talk box but had to change to a pedal that simulated the effect. Apparently he had cranked up the talk box way too high, and it was loosening his dental fillings and crowns! Stay safe and well.
