Wow way to not research this… Peru did this to circumvent the Insurance issue in paying for supportive care… so it’s not that they think being intersex, transexual etc is a mental illness but that it’s the easiest way for them to continue to receive health care for those issues. As usual it took me 2 minutes to research this. Peru’s Ministry of Health (Minsa) on Friday also released a statement confirming its position that “gender and sexual diversity are not diseases” and its “rejection of the stigmatization of sexual diversity.” Further, the statement reads, “Sexual orientation and gender identity of a person does not in itself constitute a physical or mental health disorder and therefore should not be subjected to treatment or medical care or to so-called conversion therapies,” which are illegal in Peru. The Minsa statement continued that the update to PEAS “is carried out in the face of the need to ensure the benefit of comprehensive mental health interventions, as conditions for the full exercise of the right to health and well-being of the person, the family and the community.” In its announcement, the country’s health ministry claimed that the decree, signed by socially conservative President Dina Boluarte, was the only way it could “guarantee full coverage of medical attention for mental health” for trans, non-binary, and intersex people under the country’s universal health insurance. Again you spent more time making a misleading video than the time it would take to research and debunk this video. Pathetic

In Peru the push for this nonsense has not been as hard as in Argentina, Brasil or Chile; because in a worldwide view, Perú has the least influence in geopolitical topics, but still they are pushing for it. I am from Peru, and the purpose of considering this an illness is to allow these people access to "medical insurance" for free, in order to access hormonal treatment and possible surgical interventions for "transitioning". This was done this way because changing actual laws was too complicated.
