Very nice analysis. I love it.
There is not an nba show out there as educational and entertaining as watching and listening to these 2 consummate professionals. Great school of basketball. Definitely enhances watching the games. Great job guys. The best podcast!
Look at this team bonding during the offseason
The best way to guard this era pick and rolls with the 1 and 5 is you switch the five 5 prior to the pick. There's a moment in time when the Offensive 5 is setting the screen and, there is about a 1-2 second gap where the ball handler makes a decision. So what you do depending on the side the pick is you send the 3-4-2 while the big switches to the wing or corner. To stop Celtics make them run sets where the first and second option is broken. They run on a metronome when the beat is broken they are broken as a team. Would love a job! Please contact

Luka doncic is basically pick your poison overall when you guard a guy like that because he's also a very good passer and get his teammates open shots overall.🏀💯
Thanks for this podcast ! Real breath of fresh air in the espn polluted world we live in 😮💨
luka actually started to take a page out of kyrie's book and run away from blitz double-teams, kyrie does that a lot, thats why teams dont really double-team him often because he can get around you or split.
Comments show that this is NOT for casuals. Yall dont even know wtf they talking about and its evident. This pod is for TRUE ballers and not fans. Bron just out here telling Boston how to deal with Luka. It kinda feels wrong for him to share this at this point of the season.
TBH, I would study how the Golden State dynasty defended LeBron, Harden, and Luka and incorporate any aspects that fit my personnel because, in the last 10 years, Golden State has been the most effective in dealing with teams that structure their offense around ball-dominant perimeter players.
Bron is 100% on point with blitzing after the switch, particularly in final 2 minutes of quarters. While you obviously can’t do this most of the time because of needing to switch it up, you absolutely do this in crunch time because decision making when there is hesitation involved plus going deeper into the shot clock in crunched time what I would bet as the defense
@DemonKing-oi4jd

(0:38) Athlete water-bottle!! hahaha I want one now for my key-chain lol Mexico taught me that cold water is much more important than I thought ... without it, recovery doesn't happen so well ... temperature is important
Theres a merit on switch then blitz. But everyone knows hes either gonna pass it to lively or the corner 3. They coudlve forced the corner 3 but im pretty sure they wouldve wanted that 2 instead. Ties the game and gives you chance to win in OT.
This is the time I know I am getting old when LbJ is doing commentary with JJ Reddick
absolutely in the playoffs u gotta force the ball out of lukas hands- he still gets the pass in but make the others shoot. The other times you gotta hedge hard and cut back to mix it up.... But never go under the screen and switch only when its the only option.
Is that a public coach interview? 😶😶😶
Brown on Luka pushing him to Porzingas should help. Trapping him won’t work cause he is a great passer. The Celtics will handle Luka just fine but it’s going 7 games. Tater gets his first Finals MVP & Ring.
@williestyle35
21 күн бұрын
Pretty good analysis, but... Brown is already frontrunner for Finals MVP while not guarding Luka exclusively (Brown's scored, defended, been more efficient, and hustled a bit more than Tatum). The Celtics switched some, mixed in some "Jordan rules" defense (dare the "others" to beat them [while also applying pressure on Kyrie is the new twist from the Celtics] ), and keep Luka further out of the spots he likes. The Celtics showed me some real... new character in the first two Finals games, they want this more.

@@williestyle35 Yeah the whole team really wants Tatum to get a ring. KP too. I really want that too even though I do like Mavs. I’ve always liked the Celtics since the Bird days.

Damn this was a good idea. JJ was right. Talking heads should be helping fans understand the game. If you’re talented enough like these guys you can entertain and educate. As for the topic, Luka’s ability to hit tough shots is up there with prime Harden. You gotta get that ball out of his hand and to a less capable teammate or worse case stay in front of him.
"He gets the hostage, puts you in jail" 🤣🤣🤣
People think this is a podcast, in reality it’s an extended interview for jj to get that lakers job 💀🙏🙏🙏

Coach JJ🏀🏀🏀
Luka is going to catch and shoot more than he ever has this series. If you watched last series he was doing it a little bit. I think they ramp it up & throw Boston off guard.
One play doesn't always define a series, but that possession probably is the closest thing to it. You could've lived with Lively getting a dunk (everyone on the perimeter staying home), tying it up, and having more than enough time to try and win it down on the other end. Yeah if it went into OT and you still lost that's a different convo, but that play exemplified the difference between a team lead by folks who've been there vs young inexperienced folks...they didn't even give themselves a chance with that play.
Its crazy how little he lets the guest talk. Especially Bron.
LUKA MAGIC ✨✨✨
When you and your future coach start a podcast together to secretly interview him for the job, but keep doing the podcast so nobody knows he already has the job. *LeMind The James* *LeInterview James* *LeMastermind James*
I won’t lie at first i wasn’t a fan of Jason Kidd’s offense. I felt like it was too much one on one at the top of the key. Now I realize that it’s done on purpose to make it harder for the defense to double team Luka/Kyrie and gives them plenty of options in the pick and roll.

Because Gilbert Arenas switches back and forth between "inside info about other players (rumors), some light general basketball analysis, and joking around while pleading for a coaching job - and McCants mostly talks about himself. Neither LeBron or JJ is interested in talking about less than the game, and games within the game, and how players or coaches can effect the game •
Seems like bron trying his best to give Boston the remedy to guarding Luka that answer was diabolical🤔
"that's my quarterback"- to
you blitz luka, he gonna make a pass and force a turnover or pray that the open guy misses. but if you dont blitz him, hes gonna cook. Luka is a special player. but is also a very clutch player (seen many times). its impossible to guard him 1 v 1. none in that celtics team can guard him. best thing to do is pray lol. its still a mystery on how to defend luka.

So, they are doing job interview via podcast now
Joe mazulla “Write that down , write that down.”
@williestyle35
21 күн бұрын
He kinda didn't. Joe mostly let his defenders work against Luka, some switching, a couple of traps, a few hard blitzes. Hate to say it, but... the Celtics reused a few of the "Jordan rules" = namely dare all the others not named Luka and Kyrie to do anything to beat them. Dallas has gotten so little out of P J Washington, Daniel Gafford, Hardaway Jr, and even Derrick Lively II & Derrick Jones Jr have struggled often. And Dallas has some weird player rotations going, I can't say why they have barely used Dante Exum or Jaden Henry, and only a little of Josh Green - and Maxi Kleber has not been productive since his injury. So, the Mavericks are down 0 - 2 coming home to Dallas, with an uphill struggle to get wins on a Celtics team that knows this is their Finals to finally break all the way through. Celtics been here, only Kyrie on Mavs has been here (and it looks like the Boston scheme and their fans have gotten to him somewhat, so far.. ).
So the guy that couldn't stop Luka is telling us how to guard him.
Come on over next season to join Dallas Bron, Luka & Kyrie are waiting for you
