I am dreading teaching how to read music notation to beginners because, while I know that reading is an incredibly important skill for musicians, I also know how boring it can be to have it explained in purely technical terms. The pizza illustration is perfect! Who doesn't love pizza?! Thank you so much. Now I'm actually excited to have the opportunity to teach this to my students! Also breaking this lesson into two videos helps remind me to take it slow with them. No need to discuss 16th notes if 8th notes are still confusing!
