Very nice flying, video editing and instructional 'patter', simple enough yet with the required details (speaking as a real flying instructor!) A real asset to the flight sim community.

Thanks for the kind words Shrike! The pilots who review these videos before I make them public like the patter as well :-)
To get the external view at the same time I have to record the footage twice. Once in the cockpit and then a second time from external view. Then I used my video editor to combine the two clips in the way you see it.

Normally after "flare" wouldn't it need a bit more of forward push to keep the tail off the ground ground a bit more as well?
@RequiemsACTL

@@georgepettas3267 That's only if you're attempting a wheel landing. During a 3 point landing you wouldn't do that.
I kept forgetting to open the oil radiator, that explains a LOT XD

Yeah Mastergamer, the radiators can be a bit touchy on this one especially considering how sensitive the engine is when it's run outside of normal parameters!

Honestly, I feel that my landings are a result of always trying to do a consistent circuit and approach each time. I don't get these recordings on the first try though. I spend a bit of time practicing to figure out which speeds work on approach/touchdown and which do not. The Stuka is simple enough to land though compared to the smaller fighters. As long as you have flaps and enough height on final you could turn the engine off and you will make the field. Just make sure you touch down at the right speed with three point attitude and your landings will suddenly become easy!
Great video editing, Requiem. These must take a lot of time but they look awesome! I'm sure they'll be really helpful for BoS folks just like your previous videos were for RoF.

Thanks Alex. Yeah these do take a long time to put together (synchronising those small controls/external views you see with the cockpit is the biggest pain), but gathering from comments by yourself and others the style improvement is well worth it :-)
Fantastic, thanks. ~
I've got immense amounts to learn...I'm gradually getting my opentrack/aitracker adjusted along with using joystick, pedals, and a nifty little Logitech throttle quadrant I can assign flaps, RPM, trim with. The Stuka is a fun plane to fly....but I found out the hard way to not run over 2500 RPM for long periods.
Another good tutorial. Thanks , Requiem

Hi Kjetil, I use a Logitech G940. It isn't the most precise thing going around, especially the pedals, but the joystick is great. Unfortunately they don't make it anymore.

Nice, thats a foce feedback stick. That explains the precise tiny movement I think. I have a X-55 modified with 4 springs in the corners to make it better near the center.

Do you have tips for altitudes for 4500-6000m? Or the same engine controls as below that?
Hello Req, I am literally your info, but in the single player campaign, I can not keep driving the JU-87 in working condition. Is this due to the latest update? Do you have the same problem?
@RequiemsACTL
9 жыл бұрын
Guignol-Mig I changed the CEM settings in the annotation. Don't exceed 1.2 ata and 2250 RPM in normal flight, and make any throttle/RPM changes correctly (because it is a constant speed propeller), and you should be fine. I've ony broken the Stuka engine when I overrev it through bad throttle / RPM management.
I somehow managed to enable the saftey, meaning I don't see my REVI and when I pull the trigger I just hear a click sound...
Do you have all those controls mapped out (like bombwindow and stuff) or is there some way to operate them with mouse?
@RequiemsACTL
9 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have them all mapped out. After some practice the muscle memory kicks in and I don't think about what button to push. The devs haven't implemented clickable cockpits like the completely clickable pits in DCS and to a lesser extent those in Cliffs of Dover.
Also it seems that even though I limited the RPM my engine's keep dying on me
Is it just me, or did your VSI not move up or down during take-off and climb to altitude?
@RequiemsACTL
6 жыл бұрын
No Zach you are right it did not. I did this video while the Ju87 was still in early release so not all gauges were functional
what am I supposed to do with all of these engine controls during flight? Am I supposed to micromanage them?
@RequiemsACTL
3 жыл бұрын
No, you can just set the RPM and throttle to the max continuous setting once you have a safe altitude and leave it there. You can leave the water and oil radiators fully open no problem as well if you wished
Like vidos
i'm having problems with my engine dying while i'm flying to an objective. i follow all the notes in your guide on the IL2 forums and from this video but my engine still dies without fail. any thoughts?
@RequiemsACTL
9 жыл бұрын
I've never really had a problem with the engine dying, but when it does it is usually due to RPM that is too high. Make a note of what your RPM was at the time it started dying and then keep it lower next time and see if it still does it. To be completely safe you can keep on 2200 RPM and 1.2 ata.

The Air Combat Tutorial Library i have no idea how to control the rpm in this sim
hey im confused, wdym pull back the flaps and such, are you literally able to use the cockpit instruments and stuff or do you use key binds? I see people doing this all the time it's just really confusing

My engine seems to just cut out mid flight.

You might be running the engine too hard. To make it easier, just try and run the engine in "climb mode" or "continuous mode" using the technochat.
for me, when i start the engine, the rpm is set to 100% and i cant change it after that

Consider what bombs you are taking and what your fuel load is too. If you're taking the massive bomb you don't want full fuel for example. If you want make a recording in-game (CTRL+R) and send me that track (the .trk file and the folder with the same name) via PM on the IL-2 forums and I'll see what you're doing.

Another thought is that maybe you have the toe brake controls axis inverted....so they are always applied when you're not pressing them.
