    I´m following your great tutorials for years now. You have the best flight maneuvering and tactics videos out there. I own and fly 19 modules in DCS but never touched a warbird yet. Until now actually. Just bought the DCS Bf 109 K-4. It´s a shame i didnt try earlier. Also bought the P-47 as well but that one is for later progression of stepping into warbirds, also supported by many of your guides. thank you very much. If you ever need an escort, air2ground support or a rotary ride in DCS, let me know buddy.

    A great tutorial, and a smooth landing! However I was wondering if there was a specific keybind to operate the Fuel feed selector in the 109? Not being able to operate it has been bugging me since I started playing IL-2.

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    No, there's no specific binding for that as manipulating the fuel system isn't what they originally envisioned the gameplay including. Manual control of the fuel system was being developed at one time in the last couple of years but I'm not sure if they've continued working on it.

  • @RequiemsACTL

    There is no key to fix it. You need to stop using emergency power for 10 mins or so before using it again when then pressure restores to a useable level

    +RequiemBoS *What model is the combination gyro instrument?* The artificial horizon with integrated yaw-rate gauge and skid-slip ball seems a satisfactory instrument for retrofit to earlier models from the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke such as the Bf 108 under restoration (as of this video) at Fantasy of Flight, Polk City, FL, USA - it would qualify as a period-correct upgrade for a 1940's manufacture.

    I have so many 109 manuals I can't be bothered to look for it LOL (I think it's in the DCS Bf 109 K-4 manual at the very least) But as a general rule the 109s are recommended to climb at about 270km/hr. I only started doing those information panels with the Kuban expansion onwards to make use of the "dead time" engine starts give, so you won't find anything as good as those in my earlier videos.

    There is original documentation out there on lots of 109 variants. Here's a 1944 manual for the K-4: www.deutscheluftwaffe.com/archiv/Dokumente/ABC/m/Messerschmitt/Me%20109/Me%20109%20K-4%20Teil%201-5.pdf Not sure if climb-speeds are in there, but if you're into 109s, this should be highly interesting - even though it's in German only... :) That same page has lots of other original LW documents in pdf-form, BTW .. and not just for 109s. EDIT: This manual for the G-2 www.deutscheluftwaffe.com/archiv/Dokumente/ABC/m/Messerschmitt/Me%20109/Bf%20109%20G-2.pdf states 270 kph as best climb-speed at low altitude (top of page 21 on the pdf). Note how someone corrected the value by hand, changing it from 250 to 270.

    razoleg I am no expert at the subject, but it seems turning to land is fairly common for BF-109’s. Perhaps because of it’s long nose and poor forward visibility at landing speeds, like Corsair. kzread.info/dash/bejne/loNtz6evZbnLZZc.html

    What kind of a problem would taking off/landing with completely wrong trim cause?

  • @RequiemsACTL

    @RequiemsACTL

    5 жыл бұрын

    It would make the takeoff more difficult. Say for example you decided to use full nose up trim, once the airplane gained some speed it would want to raise the nose as high as possible which could lead to a stall just above the ground and crash. You would need to use a lot of control pressure quickly to counteract the effect of a mistrimmed airplane to prevent something bad happening.

  • @griffn14

    @griffn14

    Thanks! 👍 Yeah, a take off too early is not much of a fun thing to do, if one has to make a mistake then better aim for a take off of a later kind 😀

    @@RequiemsACTL I might also add, that one tends to fly in a rather hefty nose down trim as it makes combat manouvers and "flying along" much easier. If you attempt to land with that trim, you need to pull the stick quite significantly on landing to make for a decend three-point touchdown. However, by pulling the stick with flaps deployed, you tend to loose a significant amount of speed rapidly very close to the ground, risking a hard touchdown with a high risk of crippeling your propeller. The values, settings and comments given in this video (and others) are correct and should be followed for best practice. Especially for new pilots, learning to take-off and landing procedures provides a successful learning-curve.
