Queueing doesn’t make me feel disconnected from my characters. I queue up their morning routine tasks, zoom in and watch my pixel person do their thing. That’s how I feel connected to them - watching them in their element!

@@user-bp8nv1ph9m No matter how good the AI is, i think it's safe to assume it's not going to be able to read players' minds 💀 People being able to actively make choices for their characters is a large part of the genre's appeal for many, so anything that facilitates that (like an interaction queue) is pretty important

Always pleasantly surprised with these updates! I second the idea for travel via bus! Also- for the traveling around the world, i think options for camping would be awesome if it’s not on the list already. Items such as tents, sleeping bags, log fires to roast food, a thermos you can buy at the store and hold soup in and it stays fresh all day. Just an idea!

For things to help I would like to see the following if possible 1) Car radio, listen to music while driving. I mean in RL who doesn't? 2) phone playing music while you are walking or jogging 3) Add in small animals to make the world look more alive, squirrels etc that you can just see around Those all things I think would make traveling better. While I like how you have a fast travel for those that want it, I personally never use them. Not even in games like Skyrim or Cyberpunk 2077, I think it is just more fun to travel myself and that goes double for a life sim game.

My thoughts on the video: - Sound needs to be a bit louder. - Hair salon needs employees, otherwise it feels very lackluster. - Chairs need to snap close to the table, it looks very odd right now. - To me, queueing is useful mainly for the characters I'm playing in the background. For example, I want to focus on playing with Mom but the house is too dirty, so it's useful to quickly queue a bunch of cleaning actions for Dad to do, like washing dishes, doing the laundry, cleaning the bathroom, etc..

Such a nice little video! I'd love if you guys add a lot more interactions and animations later down the line. Like when the character gets their hair done give us an animation of the worker coming over and combing through their hair/ trimming with scissors. Also some other interactions in general would be nice. Like getting a hair wash for a hygiene boost without changing the hairstyle, that way the salon can still be used even if we don't want to change our characters looks. Then to pay have the player character meet them at the cash register. This could give the opportunity for running out on the bill as well by deciding to just not pay. I think a lot of little things like that will really add to fleshing out the open world. It would be amazing to just be able to walk around and see all the other characters interacting in interesting ways.

Footballs and frisbees, picnic baskets and blankets. Birds that drop feathers you can use in crafting. Rare celestial events you can take pictures of on your in game phone, like a shooting star that grants you a wish. Flowers that only bloom during thunderstorms, hidden non rabbit hole places deep in the woods that harbor rare fungi, and high in the mountains such as waterfalls with exclusive fish. Features like these could give you a reason to explore instead of just climbing a mountain for a trove and going home. Doing quests for an unplayed character who eventually reveals a code to a secret bunker. Buying an unplayed friend a car, and them inviting you out for a ride around town. Seeing unplayed characters collect troves here and there, possibly even offering to trade you (so you don't feel like the smartest character.). Agreeing to show a tourist around town and discovering places even you didn't know about. Interactions like these would make the world feel alive, and urge you to explore. They would help make you feel responsible for actively engaging in the world with your character so they don't miss out on life, and give more ways to make every day feel different.

I think group activities should be scattered around the world like volleyball at the beach hiking trails or mountain climbing or simply swings at the park just something to do all around the outdoors. Also for the hair salon it would be nice to have a stylist or 2 working those chairs it would add to realism of the open world. I love including lots like salons to go and get character changes done. Hoping to see more immersion in future iterations of the salon! Changing your hair colour drastically could come with the risk of a bad bleach job if your hairdresser isn't that skilled. Maybe consultations between stylists and clients to ensure the right Haircut is done. Gossiping between a stylist and customer! People tend to have such unique relationships with their barber or hairdresser it would be great to see that explored :)

Ok a few points. 1. I happen to like the cute bouncing box....2. the ambient noises in the background are really nice and the glimpse of the leaves on the trees? Great stuff! 3. I am hoping that at some point during early access that there will be the option to have either an NPC hair dresser or an owner/employee of an owned beauty shop available to "cut the hair" 4. The queuing is REALLY important to be able to set up if you are wanting to play more than one/several characters at the same time. You can always skip queuing but it is vitally important for family players to have that option. 5. The daily events thing? Nice touch!

Fiest i wanna say, really appreciate how much you guys are able to show us and walk us through. Hope to keep seeing more! I think making traveling through the world more interesting would include things that make a community feel alive - like someone riding bikes, or kids playing in a park, birds or butterflies flying by, somebody having a garage sale, people waiting at a bus stop. Fireflies that come out in the countryside at night, and maybe moths by streetlights. Plants in natural spaces that vary more in height/size. I think monument and statues or plaques and signs that suggest history, records from previous lives the player has played, or from just funny random dev team stories that the player can choose to replace as they make their own history. Like other games have achievements -- what if some of the harder achievements being unlocked could let you place a statue of your character in town square so you remember who it was you first completed the challenge with. (I am not intending to imply these should be available at release, just something to grow towards or have available for players to add as they see fit, just ideas as requested for the drive through the world)

Travel ideas: - driving skill : while every adult can drive, maybe people with certain traits (reckless or similar?) or higher skill can drive faster, or someone with the opposite traits drives slower? - preset "vista" locations that people can visit and if they find them all, getting somekind of bonus(geocaching?public laavu sites?)? This could also tie into walking/jogging trails and trekking and nature parks etc and get more use out of the open world areas that otherwise feel more generic and empty and incentivising exploring by giving more reasons TO traverse - car breakdowns/upkeep/minor accidents? Story possibilities in car breaking down and having to sort out gas or fixing it or having it towed and missing an event could be fun - subway or tram/train for faster movement but more targeted connections would make it easier to play a character who doesn't drive and it would make actually having a car more meaningful - being able to learn to drive as a teen and having to get your license - wild animal packs being seen in forested areas would provide changeability to car rides - motorbikes!!! - personal helicopter with a really high cost as a money sink but also as a way to get to places REALLY fast - provided there's a suitable landing spot - bicycling for the shorter distances - boats? generally i really enjoy it when a game has a variety of different transportation types, so that I can have characters show their personalities through their different preferences - and a trip with one should have different pitfalls and boons than the others

It has been mentioned in the comment section by other users, so I second all of the suggestions as it relates to the different public transportation options . Personally I like the idea of commute times mimicking the real world in that it influences what you can achieve in a day based on the time it takes for you to get to different places. I feel like having this challenge in the game will help to add longevity to the franchise as you could choose to expand on this challenge in DLC. But that's just me thinking in the future 😂. Otherwise, something that could be easy to implement for a Base Game release could be the idea of putting in roads with different speeds. Such as having a national road with a higher speed limit?

What was said about adding a queuing system, and the game feeling more immediate: I feel that, in these videos, there has been too much emphasis on "direct control" of a single character. It's really important to me to play multiple characters, and a queuing system would allow me to leave one character alone long enough to attend to my other characters. When will we get to see videos of multiple characters in a household being played more or less together?

I think people are a little sims-damaged :P If they pull it off their idea it should be just as fun and easy as any other sim game. I think the problem is that the AI in sims games is just bad, and you HAVE to micromanage them to get anything done or they just stand around looking at the wall all day or do something completely unrelated. I could be a little too optimistic though. There's no reason the characters couldn't "learn" what you expect from them after doing it a few times.

1st the package... maybe let it glow a bit, but not hop 2 at the salon, i would like to see a stylist come over to the chair and at least touch the clients hair with a hand and scissors in the other hand before going to pick the new style. It would be nice to have some conversation with the stylist. 3 traveling, mode of travel should have an impact on travel time. There should be forests and other area's to explore. Perhap find a hidden lake or glen... something you can't just see from looking around in over view. 4 we need to have a hamper so we can stack up the laundry until we determine that it is laundry day... also for those slobby sims. Also let them pull close out of hamper and fabrese and let wear again if they did not do laundry but charge them for doing it This is super important and is relating to queuing up things to do. Rod were used to being able to tell the sims what we want them to do for a while and then pick a person and the interact more exclusive with that character. I understand that you might think that it will not let us be as connected but i disagree. Limiting to only interact with a single character at a time will hurt thise who want to setup scenarios and game plays for their characters to react correctly. I understand this is to lat to implement before early access. You need to realize, though, that this is going to be a hotly requested thing until it is implemented. Also i have noticed that places where the sales people and restraunt staff are not as interactive. Your kiosks need to be manned. When ordering at the restraunt its ok to click and order but needs to have a person there so we feel we are actually placing the order. If you want it to be like a fast food kiosk the you need to have a pick up place. Regarding the cleaning lady strightening the bed. That animation should have made them face the bed not the headboard area so they are actually messing with the sheets. For fluffing pillows they need then to be at the pillow area and facing bed to do their animation and either strech for second pillow or go around to other side. Thanks for us being able to teleport if we want though i probably wont use it often. The characters are looking much better. Glad your going to be focusing on eyes face movements and placement of shoulders. I definatly could play with how they are while you work on this for early access. What are we doing with the experience points were getting doing quests???

I love that Rod and the team have a vision for the game, i think that's what's going to make it great, even if it's not going to please everyone, if you have a vision and you execute it well, then it will be a good game. Re: the open world, personally i like it when the world feels alive and you see other characters out and about, doing things, buying groceries or taking their kids to the park, like maybe Fabian meets another person who's interested in gems out in the hills and they can become friends, things like that.

I don't know you're assuming the ai in this game will be as bad as Sims 4 that requires micromanaging. This is something we may learn quickly during early access we don't need or maybe the ai will be bad and we will but no way is it possible to be worse than Sims 4.

It would be nice for hair dressing to have different cost options. That was way too cheap for colour and a hair cut. Colour costs a lot in a salon! Maybe the option to buy hair dye and do it at home for cheaper. You could even add a chance for it to go wrong and come out a different colour!

I love that you can see your daily acomplishments, and also please always keep direct control mode, just put in an animation for when you change movement direction though, so that it looks more natural. Also, as someone else said, people actually working at the shops and salon would be nice. As for how to make travelling more interesting, maybe add a fuel mechanic to the game so you have to plan your trips and choice of vehicle better, and make skateboards, bicycles, etc make the character gain fitness, but also get tired after riding for a long time.

The game did improved a lot since I last saw it from a YT influencer vid. There are some areas I did notice problem, in case no one mentioned it before. 1) Collecting animation: I think sitting on top of what you are collecting is not going to work. Move a bit backward but not too far. 2) Sitting and eat animation: The hand that isn't being used is clipping to the thigh (in this case the left hand). This one is a bit nitpicking but the shirt has some clipping as well. 3) Car noise: Be it realistic on how loud cars could be, it will be very annoying when there are multiple car running at the same time. The noise is way too loud. 4) Is the hillside supposed to be so empty? I know it might be easier to see the collectibles but maybe some bushes/grass/rocks would be more realistic.

I think the way to make the open world more interesting is people-watching. Having more people around, but also have other people also collecting gems, bugs, etc. Maybe I could make a friend as I go hiking and see a familiar face. Right now the outer areas of the town feel empty. They shouldn't feel /busy/ but maybe the chance of coming across someone else exploring would be fun. Understanding this might be very difficult to implement.

The details in the leaves, the shimmer in the water, the high def hills, wow! you guys have been busy! The "hair jiggle" and even his walking mechanics are just awesome! I do agree that I would like there to be some sort of across-town transportation system if possible - if someone is without a car and it's too far for a bike/skateboard, how will they get there if you build your town up? But I can understand if that's a major undertaking and would have to wait for a while. Thanks Rod and team for all that you do!!

I know this game is far from full launch, but I hope early access will not be delayed again because I need to actually play the game before giving my full feedback. As of right now I really hope the team adds more life and personality to the humans which I think is lacking, I hope swimming will be added since this is a beach map and I hope to see more activity going on in the beach to bring it to life. It also lacks the feel of seasons and change, so I hope to see holiday decor/weather and definitely animals in the world, including ability to have pets. I just feel it needs that bring to life unique vibe that a life simulation game needs, so while I hope full launch takes it's time to work on these things I still want early access to be soon enough so players know what to expect because the least thing we want is another sims 4. On a positive note I'm grateful to the team for taking in our feedback including the negative because in the end the results will be perfected and I'm sticking with the development to see that.

You guys should implement something like a Uber or Lyft system and maybe even a metro or trolley. Also, I noticed when Rod went in for a haircut, all it did was allow him to go in to create a character to change it himself. What’s the point of having a building dedicated to hairstyling if you still have to go in and change it yourself? Not trying to be snarky, I just genuinely wonder why. I also feel like you guys should allow a short demo. That way people can tell you what’s really needed outside of aesthetics.

It would be cool to have an animation where someone cuts the hair. It just felt a bit sterile to sit in the chair and open a character design screen without any character to character interaction. it makes going to the hairdressers a pointless step if there’s no game play involved. I don't understand how, 24 years later, no contemporary life simulator prioritizes the care for animations and NPC interactions. I loved in The Sims 1 observing the flow of animations in a clothing store: the indecision in front of the rack, trying on clothes, looking in the mirror, the cashier's reaction to our look, the payment at the counter... it was all so lively. In this gameplay, everything is reduced to entering an empty store, sitting on a chair, and accessing once again a boring menu. I don't get it

Or even just put on a news station. Another thing that would be cool is finding out what the weather will be like for today and tomorrow or maybe a three day forecast, both through the TV and the radio. Last but not least, Fabian was really rocking that pink hair 😂 I also like male characters with long hair. I'm playing one now in the Sims 3. He changed his hair after he became an adult and had a midlife crisis. Dyed it so he had black and purple hair. You're right that we're in this together and we can figure it out together. The world looks so nice! I really liked the area with the flowers. As long as there's stuff to do here and there/things to interact with, places to go out in the world it probably doesn't need a crazy amount of stuff, imo. I think the queue would be really helpful for a multi human household. Also so you can set things up and sit back and watch the activities play out a bit. That sort of thing doesn't make me lose any connection with my character, I'm invested because I made them. Does the hair salon ever have characters nearby the chairs to act as stylists? They could maybe do a quick animation before going to the picker screen. I like the idea of teleporting if you want to. I really enjoyed some of the furniture like the downstairs bed, and the counters with the farmhouse sink. The parrot wallpaper was a cute touch, as well as the reflection on the wall tiles in that bathroom.

People, saying this before those comments potentially start flooding in: please give devs their peace to work on the game. I know most of us wants big things like pets, weather/seasons, farmlife, traveling the world, city life etc, but you must understand that all that stuff takes time, they can't possibly make all that happen for early access release. The early access we're getting in (hopefully) June isn't the final version of the game. I've seen a lot of comments that have completely ignored how Rod/Rocio/everyone in these videos keeps saying "early access" and gets surprised when another commenter reminds them that it's going to be an early access version first. The humans are being worked on (Fabian looks GORGEOUS btw), so please stop saying you won't be playing this just because humans look unfinished/ugly. That's the thing, they aren't finished, and they likely won't be finished for a while. Graphics always get polished last in every game that has realistic(-ish) graphics. Game developing isn't happening in a week, you can judge the game's visuals once the full release (not early access, the full, finished release) is nearing us. If you don't like how the game currently looks, just don't buy it. But there's no reason to pop by every video just to state how "the game still looks so ugly, I can't even watch it 😭🤢". If graphics are the main thing to you when looking at new games, then don't buy it, or wait until full release. You're not forced to buy it. Giving feedback isn't telling how you hate how the game looks and announce that you definitely won't be playing it/giving it a chance because of that. If you feel that way, fine, then don't play/buy it. But there's no need to come back to every video to announce it again. Edit: I wrote this just before going to bed, fixed typos

I agree with you. but I just hope they change how characters look, because they´re not looking good at all. we must be honest, and that concerns me since nice looking characters "sells" the game to people, at least for me. I hate comparing, but Paralives characters for an exemple, since the first pictures and videos you can feel attached with the characters, they don´t feel generic. LBY team should definitely work and improve on that asap, since the announcement of this game, the characters of LBY lack personality, prettiness and LIFE.

You must also understand that not all feedback will or can be non negative. People are pointing out what the game lacks and needs improved & that's okay!! We also want a well put together game. It's because of that feedback we are getting a better experience for early access.

Thank you so much @azmaa! While we're certainly aiming to provide as smooth and fun an Early Access release as possible, Life by You will *absolutely* still be an Early Access title. This means we will be taking the time to incorporate your feedback, continue to improve characters, and develop the game during that time. We know Early Access isn't for everyone, so we truly appreciate everyone who is going to join us for the Early Access process! 💜

Another way for traveling is maybe implant some type of taxi and/or a Uber/Lyft system? A NPC would come and pick your character up wherever they're at home , work , ect.. Another suggestion - Maybe if your Youie (Life by you character) has a vehicle they could work as a Uber/Lyft driver. The player can choose how long they want their character to work. Desired hour or hours (in-game time) for that day and/or night. Until the player decides to send them back to work. (Like a flexible job position or a little side job to earn extra in game money)

I played the Sims many years. I think NPC's autonomy is very important thing.

Hey, Rob, I know this is a very minor detail, but does TV acts as a light source when it's turned on? If not, it might be a good idea to make TV emit light like it does IRL
