Frankly, I appreciate defense lawyers. While yes, they sometimes have to defend guilty people, they help make sure they don't get out on a technicality.

Exactly. No one wants a violent, unstable person let back out. Plus, innocent people get charged all the time. They deserve a fair shot in court as much as anyone else. Idk if you've heard of his channel, but Bruce Rivers is a criminal defense attorney and he's done a lot to fix the public image of defense lawyers and detail why they're crucial to the justice system.
This really opened up my eyes. I have more respect for defense lawyers than I did before because I used to just think they would just try to get people guilty of heinous crimes off with as little punishment as possible-less than they deserve-and that felt unconscionable to me but now I see
Sad that we live in a "the criminal is innocent and the victim is the criminal" society.
Everyone deserves the right to a lawyer to prove whether you are innocent or guilty
Professor is CORRECT. My parents would REFUSE to represent anyone whom they felt to be guilty of a violent crime. A lawyer has that discretion.
