Whenever a patient's large family would ask me where they would all sleep, my answer, without flinching or turning away from whatever I was doing, would invariably be, "elsewhere."
@TheVillainOfTheYear

@Rach The secret is not engaging with bad behavior. It always hurts you more than them. At my last job, whenever a patient was yelling and screaming at the nurse and I was in charge, I would step in, guide the nurse by the arm out of the room, and close the door (glass doors). The patient would be too shocked to continue engaging in verbal abuse, the nurse would feel like a human again, and management was happy because what's the patient going to say? "The nurse didn't stand there and listen to me screaming at her?"

Every time I hear about parents believing vaccines cause autism, I can't help but laugh. Because I have a friend whose parents thought the same thing and didn't get him vaccinated, and then later on he was diagnosed with autism. Needless to say, they couldn't exactly continue sticking to that claim. They still tried for a while, though.

Had a renal patient who was on a strict fluid balance. He disappeared from the ward and returned hours later drunk. He had gone to the pub and had about 10 beers and got angry with me because he was sick of us telling him what to do. I pointed out that I wasn’t the one who was going to die, so all good.

My mom had to be rushed to the ER, too many times to count, for asthma attacks. They insisted it was from secondhand smoke because paedophile pop smoked. But, both my mom and paedophile pop thought they HAD to be wrong, because paedophile pop NEVER smoked inside. He would go outside to smoke, then come back inside. The doctors educated all of us on what secondhand smoke is and that it can linger on items, such as clothing, for days, still being just as dangerous as direct smoke. Her constant asthma attacks finally went away when they split up. What an odd coincidence, right? 🤔

5:51 Two things. First: The nonchalant "Oh, that's Nelson, he lives up there" just sounds cute. Second: Should've been "Oh, that's Horatio," but...
Once when my mom was in high school she started exhibiting signs of a cold/flu so she went to the doctor thinking that she had a neuromuscular disorder and made them test her for myasthenia gravis.
1:12 - So she was close enough to going into labor that she thought her water might break while she was working and then she ended up with broken glass right where it was liable to cut the baby if she did go into labor... I'm just cringing here. I don't know her situation so I shouldn't judge, but it seems to me that if she was that close to delivery maybe it was time to take a break from showing houses until after the baby was born.

24:08 Yes it is. I now have an gastroesophageal disease (aka something that affects my esophagus, its called GERD and is relatively common) because my parents (or my mom, at least) smoked literally all the time when I was a kid, and I have asthma but I've sort of trained myself to work around that. It's manageable because all that really happens is stomach acid manages to enter my esophagus, but at the same time it's a chronic condition.
@lisachiappetti6092
2 жыл бұрын
Hey I have GERD too but my parents didn't smoke. My best friend's mom smoked and some of my dad's family smoked and I was around them occasionally, but I don't think that's what caused it. I think what caused it is when I was born my esophagus wasn't fully developed.
I know a person with COPD and was recently in hospital for pneumonia. During that stay they chose to leave the ward to see friends and family and smoke. They also left long enough to travel to the next city over where someone they were with overdosed on some type of narcotics and had to be resuscitated. This meant they were classed as having self discharged and had to wait until hours later to be readmitted. They continued to leave the ward to see friends and family while also smoking and taking narcotics. Yesterday they were discharged (?thrown out?) and immediately went to meet their supplier. Yup. This all took place during the pandemic! I like them and consider them to be a friend (their mother is a neighbour and also a friend), but this is another level of stupidity!
Obligatory not a doctor, but was somehow really smart in biology, anatomy and common sense regarding health care. I have no idea how some of these people manage to gain adulthood.
That button battery up the nose reminded me of a story my parents told me of when I was 2. Apparently, I had figured out how to reach and disassemble a key-chain laser pointer to eat the battery. Apparently, it passed right through me completely harmlessly after about three days.
That last one about vaccines accurately describes my friend's cousin. I feel bad for her kid

How is this new? I heard all of this months ago.
I had MSSA, the MRSA that's more easily treatable, from a long hospital stay. Those who diagnosed me didn't find it strange at all and just dumped a bunch of antibiotic in me, and I was all good.
i literally had to force the doctors to not discharge me because they thought i was fine, but i still hadn't fully recovered. WHY
“Oh that’s Nelson, he lives up there.”💀
To be fair, I didn't know about circumcision until 11th grade 😅 when my mom was pregnant with my brother. She and my dad had a brief discussion on whether or not to have him circumcised. It's been all girls in my family until my little brother and my dad's not circumcised, so that was an interesting bit of information for me. Also, I didn't know men had foreskin 😖 I didn't pay much attention to the sex ed lessons in middle school...

Crohns and ulcerative colitis runs in my family and even I had to Google if you could have symptoms in your mouth because I did not know that I Was told by family members many times that Crohn’s disease was in the small intestine and ulcerative colitis was in the large intestine and that is why you can remove the large intestine with ulcerative colitis so it’s not as dangerous but Crohn’s is a lifetime disease

23:47- 2. made from aborted babies. There was a sweetener in soda (pepsi and dr. pepper) that comes from the kidney cells of aborted babies ( it was in their products for a couple of years; they try to deny it but I remember the site saying they did; it's, of course, been taken down). The company that supplied it, is Senomyx. I can't remember what it was called unfortunately, it was at least 4 years ago when I saw it.

You meam HEK-293? A number of problems I have with that: First, HEK-293 was derived from ONE aborted fetus' kidney cells about FORTY YEARS AGO, and the cell line has reproduced by itself since; it's not like people are constantly dumping in more cells to feed it. If abortions stopped tomorrow, we could keep on using HEK-293. Second, said cells have also been altered and hacked to bits to serve pretty much every cellular purpose imaginable as a common lab workhorse; the ones Senomyx were using apparently were modified to imitate human taste buds or something. Finally, no cells ended up in the finished product; the cells were just used to test the sweeteners more efficiently than with human test tasters. www.snopes.com/fact-check/senomyx-flavor-additive/ A lot of similar things can be said about the cell lines used to test vaccines.

I have a bad phobia of bugs to the point I would get a respirator mask to then spray raid all over my own hair after cutting it into a layered bob at home. Fuck that shit I will even get the bug killing gel in a good enough amount to completely cover all my hair then comb out the head lice. I will deal with the hair damage later with a hot oil treatment and rubbing vitamin oil into my hair.
