Land Rover Discovery 3 DEACTIVATE BUILD MODE & RE-ENABLE EAS - GAP iiDTool

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I show you how you can deactivate build mode (Transport mode) and how you Re-enable EAS using a GAP iidtool BT. This is what you need to do after replacing the air reservoir or have run any of the deflate procedures.
Disclaimer: I'm not a trained mechanic. The air suspension can be dangerous to work on if done wrong due to highly compressed air.

Great video and very helpful to anyone servicing their EAS as I have been for the past 4 weeks finding a compressor issue and leak issue (slow to fill). Gallery pressure includes the compressor, the centre block and all the lines to the front and rear blocks. It is a tiny tiny air volume. Once the tank pressure is restored the tank is isolated and the compressor vents (farts) the gallery back to a lower pressure as the tank is isolated from the gallery as a store of energy. The compressor can't start against a high head pressure which is why it vents. By monitoring the gallery pressure on the IID Tool you can also see if there is a bad leak in the gallery which will mostly be in the area of the compressor lid and connections if the pressure rapidly falls. Some say this gallery pressure will always very slowly leak and can never be perfect (I'm not 100% sure) the idea is to stop ambient moist air getting in and accelerating the demise of the dessicant. But since each time you start the car the compressor will always run and test and in very quick time replace the tiny amount of air to charge the gallery to 200-400kpa to know that the compressor is ready. If the car sinks overnight it is generally a leak at the air springs (mostly) or front and rear blocks which you can remove the levelling fuse to isolate which corner has the problem. The system is pretty cool and simple to understand once you study it and servicing the 3 solenoid air blocks is a great idea and quite easy.

Wow Richard, this is such a great comment and addition to the video. You know your way around the air suspension system for sure! 👌😊 The system is really cool and, as you say, once you get to know the ins and outs of it, it’s actually nice to work on too. 😊 Great details of information added by you and why I love this LRD KZread community, if everyone share we all win. 👍😊 Thank you and keep it up! I need to do a round of checks as my front right is dropping over a few days. 😅 Best, Simon

@@LandRoverDrive 👍 understanding how quickly a good compressor gets to 1780kpa and at what temperature is a fantastic measure of compressor health. Temps up to 110-120C are normal. The computer is very quick to disable the EAS and show an error once the fill speed reduces. I have the following live values saved to quickly watch the compressor operations; Relay position Gallery pressure Cylinder temp Engine temp

Glad the video could help! Bad design I guess. 🙂 Sometimes, if you have put it into build mode and turned of the car, on startup and when disabling the build mode you may have to run the rutine twiced to get it to turn it of. Not sure why.

Hey, I think they are both great and they both have their own charm. I’m glad I have had the opportunity to go overlanding in both. If I had to choose one of them today I would go for the Discovery for a bunch of reasons. I will make a video on that later but my main reason would be safety and traveling with kids. 👍😁

Hey man I just deflated my suspension for a service using idtool and then I wanted to check my gallery pressure live value like you did. I dont know why but it stays at 1.9bar not higher. I was able to drive the car normally and use the suspension lower or higher no problem but my idtool display 1.9bar as gallery pressure despite the fact that I enabled it back after deflating. Its strange, did you have this problem aswell ?

  • @florianrav8179

My guess when I checked your video again is that once the tank is full, the vavle closes and then the gallery pressure becomes the pressure in the tubes and no longer the pressure from the tank.

I have a 2006 rrs supercharged... My car was fine and out of boredom i selected calibrate anti roll option then i got e 7 error code and my red suspension light is on... Everything still works ie suspension goes up an down etc but now the red light stays on and fault code C 1 A00-54 - Control module - System programming failure - missing calibration (AB)... 😮... Any advice please 🙏

Any advice, don't fix what isn't broken? 😅 I haven't been so lucky to have encounter the Anti roll bar system on the RRS. I would google the fault code. I would guess the air suspension also need recalibrating along side the roll bar, or maybe the steering column. Maybe there also is a sequense to it, one system before the other need to be calibrated. But I would look into the air suspension first.

  • @LandRoverDrive

Hey, I'm not 100% sure on the cut off temperature but I have read people get readouts around 130-140*C so it's up there. Normale operating temperature would change a lot depening on the outside temperture. I think it runs pretty hot and if the system got a leak some where I would expect seeing the 100*C mark when it's working on filling up everything. Hope it helps. Best, Simon
