Another great trip, thanks for sharing guys. Loving the LandRovers 😊
Thanks for watching and the rovers is always a plus. 😊 A good trip with great friends. 👍
Good atmosphere - the Crew as well as the environment. Comfortable to watch….
Thank you Werner 👍😊 It’s what I aim for with my videos, “comfortable to watch”, morning coffee/tea videos. 😊 And the crew is amazing, good friends with positive contributions to the group. 👌 Thanks again! Best, Simon.
@@LandRoverDrive Obviously it works!
Thank you! 😊
Wow amazing roads and amazing time with friends again. I take it that you are all on studded tyres? Oh and the red truck is definitely the best 😂
Hehe, in an engine type of way? 😂 We are all on studded tires, Espen is on all terrain but with studs put in. 😊
Great video. Lovely countryside.
Thank you! Trying to capture it the best I can. 🏔️😊 Only a fraction that makes it through the lens and to the screen.
Très jolie Simon tu avais quel pneu pour rouler
Merci! Pour la conduite hivernale, j'utilise toujours des pneus hiver cloutés. Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT2 en 245/70R17. A little google translate. 😅 The 245/70R17 is the best size tire, when it comes to drivability, ease of driving, that I have had on my Discovery. I rides really nice, track really nice and the engine and gear ration in the gear box fits perfectly to this size. When I change out the summer tires I think I will buy a set of nokian outpost in that size, setting up the car for longer overland drives down into Europe. 🏔️🚗
A gorges vid up for you in Shropshire these lanes are open also
Thanks
Vacker video Simon!
Tack så mycket! 😊
Very cool, living the life!
Thanks man! Overlanding is the best hobby. 😊 Would probably make it a lifestyle if it weren't for all the bills that needs paying. 😊
Hi Simon, how is the old Erics yellow Queen?
Erik is currently doing some work to it and if you have Instagram you can check out my story’s to find his account. 😉 I will go and meet up with him and do an update on the classic later this year. 😉
Awesome video Simon! It has been a horrible heat wave here in Western Canada so it was so nice to see the snow in your video. Thanks man!
Good to be reminded on how it is to be cold. 😊 27°C here today, so not cold here either. And thank you! 😊
Not sure if it matters, but looks like you put the adjuster in the other way around. The turning wheel should be on the left, not on the right. This confused me a bit when I saw how you were turning the wheel to adjust the tightness of the shoes.
Maybe the camera angle changed or I have done something strange while editing. Can’t really remember. 😅
@@LandRoverDrive I don't think it's the camera angle. Just keep in mind that because you flipped the direction of the adjuster, in the future if you need to adjust the parking brake you should turn the wheel in the opposite direction of what the book says. E.g. by the book turning the adjuster wheel towards the center of the car wheel to push the brake shoes tighter against the brake disc, in your case you should turn the opposite way for the same purpose.
@@adv_addict Thanks, it’s noted. I usually release the top tensioner first, as prescribed, and then tighten it up the lower tensioner completely, before unwinding it again, 8 times was it 🤔, during service, so I just find the way it tightens because I done really remember the way. 😊 How often do you retighten yours? I try to do mine once a year, either during spring or autumn, when I change from winter to summer tires.
@@LandRoverDrive It's my first time doing this actually, so I found your video very helpful. Unfortunately, this didn't fix my EPB problem. The parking brake can engage fine every time (even after pulling the manual release cable), but when I press the Parking brake button down to release it doesn't do anything (no grinding noise), if I hold the button down for several seconds then a warning "Parking Brake Fault" comes on. The fault goes away if I turn the car off and back on. There is no persistent code. Based on that symptom, I don't think my EPB module is jammed but there might be actually an electronic issue with the module... I might have to replace the whole module unit.
Thong Nguyen Unbelievable....I played around with the parking switch for a bit and the parking brake is now working fine. Engaging and disengaging beautifully!
One time similar thing happend to me while I was driving and the diagnostic device was connected. It seems it momentarly affects the canbus communications and leaves a lot lot of irrelevant errors.
In retrospect, I think it was an overheating issue. I had the same symptoms happen a year later, going up Dovre mountain with a 2.8 ton trailer. Mid way the exact same thing happened but this time I check the water temps and it boiled straight away as I opened the lid, screwed it right back and saved it. Think I was running with a bit low level on the coolant. 😅 In short, I think it starts to throw codes when it starts to overheat. 😊
Replacing the uj on the propshaft is an easy job, seems daft to replace the whole shaft for the uj.
Hey, it all depends of the state of the propshaft, especially if the rear joint is notched. Easier to change the whole thing, so that’s why I recommend it. I haven’t change the center bearing or the universal joint at the rear before so would be fun to test that out next time. I’m all for refurbished and taking care of old cars and parts, as you will get to see a bit later on the channel. 😉
Derbyshire vids up hope you like them
Thanks, I will take a quick look and check out how the drives are. 👍
Always good to see a pride of Lions roaming in their natural habitat 😉
And great to be out roaming. 😊 I could do it for many more days, at a time, but work says no. 😂
You can’t beat proper tyres, and more importantly you can’t beat proper sausages 🇬🇧😎
And you can’t beat proper Land Rover friends! 😊 I wonder what you define as proper sausages?
Good to see the crew out and about again. 👍🏻🙏🦘
@@grahameroberts8109 Thanks! Always fun to edit and look back at these good times out on our trips. 😊 Makes me wanna pack my Disco and head out again. 🤙
What a great video! Sitting in the summer rain🌧 right now and wouldn't mind a winter trip 👍🤗
Hehe, wouldn't mind being out on a trip with you again Erik 😊 Glad we got last weekend. 😉 Need to plan a autumn trip, maybe including a autobox swap. 🤔
Great adventure Simon! Jill and I always look forward to your films. We have been adventuring also. Cheers
Hey and thank you! I have been following along your hiking adventures, and not me and my wife are a bit jealous of the scenery. 😊 We go for one or two local hikes every week here, but in the forest and nothing like the views you are showing. I hope you reach your goal of 52. I need to set a goal of 52 nights spent outside next year. 😊😊
We call it greenlaning i was glass rep and we drive what are badly maintaited highways all them 2 parts only of uk worth going to northumberland and wales and its borders (glass website )
The guy in the orange jacket, is one of the coolest Norwegian i met 😉
Hehehe, Hans Erik is such a great person and contributes to endless good fun! 😊 I'm thankful to have him as a friend.
Wow I so much wanted to be there with you guys good to see you out and about. Great friends just sat around a fire doing life together. Doesn't get better than that. Hopefully we can get together again soon.
Thanks and you should have been there! It was a great trip with great people, which makes for great times around the camp fire. 😊 If things align correctly then hopefully it won't be to long until we meet again. 👍
@@LandRoverDrive Just waiting for the invite 😁
@@simon-mouse8739 It's noted Simon. 😉 I hope to do a proper autumn trip, when all the tourists has left.
You say your thinking about heading to the uk i would not bother chaple gate shut rouch clough shut stanage edge shut tenterhill holingsclough shut plus 20 000 other lanes in the uk ( we do have some very boting green lanes its not worth the transportation here at all
Okay, are they cracking down on off-roading over there?
Hi guys welcome back. 👋
Thanks! Been hard at work with this one and took way longer than I though it would. I checked, a month since the last video was published. 😅 But the upcoming part 2 and 3 will be coming out the following Sundays 😉
Ya just as I thought the classic definitely won hands down and a auto is even better
I heard about the auto from Robert, I almost bought one, but it got sold minutes after it was published. 1985 4-door auto. 👌
That 2.5 tonn of discovery is far too heavy and its agile at all
It's heavy, for comp like events, but for overlanding it is one of the best options out there. 👌
Not just the darian gap but chaple gate stanage edge hollingsclough tenterhill gatsgarth pass wal na scar road and others in my mind and what I've driven its unbeatable is the range rover classic with the auto box
Would love to do Iceland in my own RRC at some point.
And I would like to see you do iceland also hopefully soon I will start getting vids up 3 a wk for 3 yrs of uk including norweigns I tuck over chaple gate and stanage edge
Thanks, UK is also on the top of the list. It may look like next year will be the year. 😊
A truly extraordinary machine in the right hands
Very true, one of the best production 4x4 ever.
He is afraid of go fast. He should go faster to avoid stop every time. Drives like a coward.
We always go as slow as possible, we drive as we do so we can drive our cars back home again after. 😊
I want to buy a used LR3 2009 in Mexico and this information is very helpful for me since I never had this make, but checking everything it is not different from any other used car. Thanks a lot. Just 1 question, you haven't change the air suspension that seems to be a very common failure on them. I have found a struts replacement for less than $ 500 usd in USA. People does not like to buy top of the line used cars because spare parts are expensive, but If you look on ebay or any other part on the net you can get spare parts at reasonable price.
Hey and thank you! I am still running on the original air suspension struts. I have change the compressor and air tank as I mention in the video, but nothing else. I will be looking into chaning out the struts as the dampers inside are getting a bit worn and the rebound is a bit soft. 😊 I will be looking at getting original or Arnott, hoping they will last the rest of the life of the car. But will wait to get them on sale.
Great 👍 video bro. This alot...
Thanks! Glad it could help!
Cracking vids and content mate but really don't like the job you've done on the wheel centres. Painting over the logo is a bit rough. You can buy black centres for the wheels for about £10 to £15 and although the black would not be a paint match to the wheels it would of been a lot better of a job.
Thank you and I agree 100% with you! I now have a different custom center. Reminds me to post that video. 😊
What a well made video, thanks a lot!!
Thank you David! Very much appreciated. 👍😊 Simon
Such a great job and nice guy for putting all this effort to record and explain step by step thank you so much
Thanks man! You’ve just made my day. 👍😊
I have a 2008 HSE. Forever spending money on it but god help me I freaking love the car!
It’s a love hate relationship for sure! 😊😊 But mostly love, can’t beat the feeling of driving the Disco. 👌
When jacking do I need to consider the air suspension? I’ve seen Audi’s that need to be on a particular setting or the coils pop out.
Sorry for the late reply, nothing on the D3's suspension will "pop out". You can set it into build mod so it won't move, or pull the suspension ecu fuse, in the engine buy, number 26 I think, to get the same result, but not necessary. 😊
What is the anti-corrosion spray that you applied inside the disc for the parking brake shoe?
Hey, it's just copper spray, I add it so it will slide better, but can collect contaminants so good to service this every year. Clean an re-apply.
Great video! I am trying to do the same for my LR4. As I see you used R17 discs, did they fit well with front breaks? I am thinking to buy such, but found in internet that they will not work with front breaks...
Hey and tank you! 17" wont fit on the LR4, neither some 18", as the sport 18" rims, so you need to find some the at fit. Original rims for the lr4 or aftermarket ones, maybe the new Defender wheels.
There is easier way to do it if you are having difficulty accessing it. remove the spare wheel. and sit down inside, remove the metal bracket and rotate it. you can easily remove the whole assembly and do the repair and put it back.
Yeah, I didn't want to touch the winch mechanism as it tends to fail, and it did later. Now I don't have a spare there so easy access. 😂 But great point, and for LR4, Sport and vehicles with the rear locker I think this is the easier way.
I Still own and Drive this beauty! 🤙10 YEARS 😊 Let me know if you want me to make a update video on the last 3 years. 😊
yes please
@@user-ni1pf2dm6w 👍😊 Will start on making the list of things I’ve fixed or serviced since this video was made. 😊

Thank you again! Family is the best and a trip to Norway is definitely worth it. I hope you will get a nice trip and some good weather on your way. Where are you driving from? Poland I'm guessing.
Great video as always Fellas. Good luck Simon with the hunt for the Classic.
Thank you so much! The hunt for a Classic is still on, but I do have a surprise coming later this year. 😉
🥱
😴
The love that am starting to have fir an Range rover classic is sansational....it's really giving
The RRC is a joy to look at and to drive. I like both the 2-door and the 4-door and hopefully there will be one on my driveway in the near future. 😊
Today got an offer for +2000€ for fix. I will try this first.
Auch, costly fix that. I would give it a go, worth the try. 😊
Great video. Very helpful. Thank you
Glad to hear and thank you for letting me know! 👍😊 Simon
Grazie per il video, lo utilizzerò come tutorial per il prossimo cambio di olio. Che misura ha la chiave per svitare il filtro dell'olio?
Hey, sorry for the late reply, had to translate your comment, didn't auto translate on my phone. Glad the video can help and the socket/spanner size is 32mm on mine. Same as the wheel hub nut I belive. 😊 Best, Simon.
thanks for answer - yesterday I bought my disco 3 :))
Congrats man! Which year and color did you end up with?
great skills and lovely to see 2 fine young lads enjoying that beautiful Classic. I had a 1985 Balmoral Classic manual 3.5 carb and am about to purchase my fourth 3.9 Vogue on a 1994 plate
Thank you bill! Always a great time when Erik brings his Classic. The 1985 is my favorite year, and is on the top of my list of LRs I want to own at some point. 😊 Fourth 3.9, I would be happy just to get one. 😊 A solid one here is getting too expensive.
