The only sense of parallel ruts in the area would be the logging trucks hauling out a full load of timber in a soggy soil location. I've seen ruts that are as deep as 3 feet in old forested logging areas ... as well as 1 1/2 feet deep (in all things !) of mountain lava fields.

Giveaways do stimulate interest. Of course being in the mulching/clearing business is only good in a place where there is something left to mulch! Glad you got the air conditioning fixed, it;s a shame it's so poorly made the machine likes to break. Huge property there, compared to what you see in south Florida You don't even seem to have brazillian pepper, melaleuca or elephant grass to deal with. "Mulcher go Brrr" reminds me of Jerome Powell in action. Those cordless grinders do beat the generator and angle grinder I used to use!

The ruts are probably from the skidder when they logged it. Some companies don’t clean up the mess they make

How does it mulch on the stumps , does it get them down to dirt easy?

Mulchers cut stumps to grade. I don’t recommend doing stump grinder work with a mulcher but if it’s a reasonable size stump you can process it pretty quick down to grade

After running a 74hp skid steer in a forestry mulching application, is it something you would still recommend? This is the type of work I want to be doing someday & I'm trying to best pick the equipment "right off the bat". Dozer piles would be something I'd see a lot of. Can a smaller machine "chew" through those root balls or would a bigger machine be more efficient?

  • @TheTreeShop

74 hp is not going to process piles efficiently and profitably. The 2 best machines on the market in the skid steer models are the ASV/Fecon 135 or the Cat 299D3 XE Land Management. Second place would be tak tl12 Third place would be kubota 97 Nothing else on the market is worth owning. 74 Hp is effective to help learn with and save some money on startup but if you want to get above $250k a year you will want 100+HP

@@TheTreeShop So as someone just starting out I should try & get a bigger machine knowing what the majority of my work is going to be?

It comes down to money. If you can afford more HP then get it. If not the 74 hp option will work and is a stepping stone to more hp

Loved the video man, you bring the energy. I just started my channel as a lead up to launching a mulching business, would love for you to check it out, and see what you think. Starting with a John Deere 333G and FAE mulch head. Should be dropped off on Friday. Got a video up of the trailer I picked, next video is uploading right now, and third video will be about the truck I bought yesterday. Where are you located?

Great content! Just do yourself a favor please, and wear some sort of glasses when sharpening the teeth or any metal grinding. You do not want the optometrist to bring out the rust ring I promise you.
