I am soo addicted to watching this channel. I love how nonchalant he is towards everything he does! That’s not saying he doesn’t do an amazing job because he does! He just goes about it with such an easy going mentality that it’s actually fun to watch him move dirt and gravel around! As my grandfather always said, you’re a good man Charlie Brown and there’s not many of us left!! Keep up the good work both in your business and in your channel!🤙🏽🤙🏽

We went from dozers and tractors to excavators so we could compete in the contracting game

The power of a bulldozer blows my mind every time. I spent 2 days digging out a small stump, tried to pull it out with my Ram 1500, snapping steel cable, being afraid I was going to set my airbag off from my from trying to yank it out. I ended up digging down further, and cutting below grade with a chainsaw and covering it up. That thing just removed one larger than mine, and it did it with out slowing down.

The trees in his area also have shallow roots due to the rock. Makes for easier take downs. Trees in the south are much harder to take down even with a bigger dozer.

It is Christmas Eve. My wife and two young kids are out doing some last-minute shopping for tomorrow. I did the dishes, I cleaned off the couch, and I made my lunch already for when I go back to work for Thursday. I have about an hour until my family gets back and I can't think of any better way for me to spend that time then watching this video of Andrew clearing land using a dozer. If I have any time left over after this one, I will definitely start on another one of his videos. I literally cannot stop watching this guy work. He is a true master operator! Merry Christmas all!!!

  • @ericharris893

Jamie Mieirs it would still do it. Firs are wide not deep. Pick the roots on one side with the corner of the blade, push the tree right over while lifting the roots with the blade. A big Excavator can just uproot the whole tree in one shot I get that but dozers move some serous earth and a good operator can get don many other things.

There is not much ground water where fir trees usally grow so to find the water they are deep. Just watched my nieghbor put in a road last month and guy tried with a d4 but ended up bringing in a big excavator, the road was only about 50 yards and took a full week. Fir trees are very tough.

Andrew! Aside from your obvious working skills I'm extremely impressed by the video production and editing. And you are getting constantly even better at it. Mixing tripod progress shots with drone footage and POV in the machines. Going from over-looking shots far away to close ups with the dozer blade an inch from the camera! Doing timelapses with some soft music and you make the cross-overs so nice, the attention to detail is amazing. Fading in the music a bit before the audio goes silent and the timelapses start. And the best part is your laid back storytelling, this is why I'm here and we're doing this! You are a master!

It is a lot harder to move them logs around with an old Farmall super M. That tracked skidsteer really works hard, I like the colors it is like a running suit from the 1980s.

Cat ought to loan you machines in order to test their capabilities and limits. they probably would never do that because you would show all the construction companies how they can make "small Cats" do the work of "big Cats" LOL!

Andrew I would like to offer my sincere apology for past comments on your Video's. My wife and I started our construction company in 1994 with a $10,000 loan from the bank that we used to purchase a used dump truck and a used Case Backhoe. We like you worked hard and today we own 9 locations in 6 states doing everything from small private residential to state contracted high steel erections, oil and gas energy and road and interstate. We employ 1600 plus employee's and maintain over 900 pieces of heavy, medium and light duty machinery. While I like to think that my zero tolerance safety and vehicle care policies are best. I fail to realize that my Mission Statement is not everyone's. My wife reminded me of that after I had her watch one of your video's. She pointed out that You and I were very similar in our practices the first 10 years of growing our companies. Her words were ''Andrew reminds me of you and just when did you get so big for your britches that you forgot where our journey started''? She was absolutely right and this morning I walked around my company equipment yard looking at the machinery and remembering. I still have that old dump truck I started with, its parked next to Backhoe #01 in the back of the yard just a couple of feet from Three D11 Cat Dozers and a couple D8's. I have never been able to bring myself to sell them even though they are fully maintained regularly they, never see job locations anymore. I want to thank you for reminding me and my wife where we started. I never filmed any of my jobs back then but would have loved to and now I'm just the guy who owns the shovel and hands it to someone else to use reminding them to rinse it off before putting it away. I am very proud of my companies growth and I am so glad that I have achieved what I have now, but more important I am glad that I can now watch your videos not with criticism but with a new set of eyes that see's a whole lot clearer and can watch ''The Good Old Days'' thru you and your videos. Thank You for your video's and for making it possible for my wife to replace my too big britches so they fit a bit better now. I wish you the best of luck in following your dream and I will be proud to be your most humble and hopefully wiser subscriber. Thank You.

The old cats and construction equipment like his 10 wheeler with I believe the 855 cummins are all mechanical fuel injected motors and do not have any form of grid heaters/glow plugs the only thing that they have is block heaters which are useful if you don't have a power connection on the site. I think the IHI may be new enough that is has electronic fuel injection is why it starts so easy.

Typical in a forest like that. There is a lot of leaf litter and humus on the surface so the roots don't usually go that deep. This is also the reason why you can clean an area like that and leave a few trees. Then the first real wind storm blows them over real easy because there is no other trees around to block the wind.
