    Built several homes in Florida and always directed the clearing of the land. Always taped off green belts of trees for wild life cover and saved as many trees as possible. The clearing of the property was always my favorite part of the build.

    Good for you David. It's actually kind of sad watching the destruction of these natural habitats, it's reassuring to read your comments about how you preserve what you can. After watching this, and reading your comments, I decided I'm also going to direct the clearing.

    On those 4 chains keep in mind that they do not count as 4 chains per DOT requirements for securement they count as a half chain because they only pull one direction and not all the way across. Great idea and I would do the same but just make sure you are not short a chain for the weight of your machinery.

    Your lucky you can rent a mulcher. In pa I was told they won't rent them bc people might break mulcher. You can rent the skid steer with other attachments. If I lived in jersey you can rent them no problem. They are everywhere. So I had to just roll over the brambles in my skid steer. Then scrape up with a grapple. Luckily only 3 trees down, most was 8ft tall brambles.

  • @TheTreeShop

    @TheTreeShop

    Жыл бұрын

    I don’t recommend renting. The mulchers they rent out are typically open faced drums running carbides for reliability to protect from bad operators and those heads are just annoying to run. Almost always more cost effective to just hire in a professional.

    Admire what you're doing. But I have a couple of questions. How much HP in your machine? Have you considered getting a bigger machine?

  • @TheTreeShop

    @TheTreeShop

    Жыл бұрын

    Currently my machine is at 74. By end of year it will be turned up a bit. That being said. Yes a bigger machine is in the plan but it will be a dedicated. The jump to a 100hp skid steer in price doesn’t equal enough of a production increase for the extra costs to be worthwhile. In the next video that comes out tomorrow I believe you will see the new head we got that allows us to mulch 1.5-2 acres a day. At that rate the low operating weight of the 259 is more of an advantage than the extra HP and few thousand pounds extra of a large frame skid steer.

    Most species do not. Some will like the camphor tree and Brazilian pepper. Only way to kill them completely is to remove stump and roots from the ground.

    I have a wooded property in very sandy central Florida. I'd like to partially clear it, compact it and drop in a bunch of #57 in the form of a driveway to a clearing patch in the middle. But not just compact enough to drive over, but also a base for an eventual foundation for small/lightweight metal frame single story offgrid house. Is this possible and are their specific requirements I need to meet in Florida?

  • @TheTreeShop

    Yes there are code requirements depending on the zoning the land is located on. Typically we just bring in shell and use that as the base/stabilizer as it is much more effective and doesn’t disappear like a 57 stone will in the sand. Office@fltreeshop.com is the best way to get ahold of me. Shoot me an email with your address and info and I’ll pull the property up and then I can get you more specifics

    A bad day. I carry several cutting tools including a torch to cut anything out. Fence, wheels, cables, rebar, run into lots of metal stuff all over the place. I don’t get stuck often, but when I do I knew I shouldn’t have done it and typically it’s from rushing so I don’t get stuck that much anymore.

  • @TheTreeShop

    With the new mulcher we can do 5 of these a day roughly. And yes the roots will die and dry up which helps produce a much cleaner root rake and faster too

    Lol. To put it in perspective I did this property in 4-5 hours with the FAE head and 74 hp. Gyrotrac head is at least 2x as fast and it is on a 299 which has plenty more power as well. there have been some properties I finished in an hour. Did 15 acres last week in 3.5 days of all palmettos 10-20ft high
