interesting that both city and county have large houses at 105 with city 105 having a 2 engine and truck taskforce with medics while county has a HM taskforce with engine hazmat trailer and Deluge unit

Can someone explain to me the whole Light Force response? I also notice the the call signs Engine 305 goes with Ladder 105?

in the City of Los Angeles, all truck companies (except one) consist of a truck (i.e. T39 & T105) and a 200-series engine (i.e. E239 & E305), this gives the truck company a water supply. the truck and "pump", as the department calls it, don't split up no matter how minor the call. the engine (i.e. E39 & E105 in this case) can run on their own but an engine and a light force together make a task force, 10 personnel total. 4 on the truck, 4 on the engine, 2 on the pump. hope that helped, thanks for watching!

Brad Griffin No. Station 105 has a task force (T105 E105 E305) and a paramedic rescue (RA105). The only E205 is at Station 5

Brad Griffin - basically for pumps, they add a 2 at the front of the two digit station number but since there's already a 1 there, they add two so it would be 305 instead of having 205 or 2105

FB1 Response Videos Why do they have 2 on the engine? If I remember correctly the national standard is 3 minimum on any piece. And for the county I thought they have 3 on the engine, like for example 127 is a light force, they have 4 in the truck, well quint, and 3 on the engine

Kyle, since the engine and truck run every call together in a light force, it would be far overstaffed to have more than 6 on the light force. in a single engine company, there will be 3 or 4, same with the single truck company. but light forces; 6. also in LAFD, on a structure fire, the firefighter from the pump jumps over to the truck so the pump would be staffed with 1 then.

FB1 Response Videos So what is the point of having that second engine if you only have 1 firefighter on it? That just seems like unnecessary wear and tear on trucks, and it's not like there won't be another engine company there right behind them if they need to flow any water up the areal in which that case it's most likely a defensive attack

in task force formation on a structure fire, the truck will automatically go to the roof, the engine will lay a line and be fire attack, and the pump will hold at the hydrant. it makes up for a lot of seconds instead of waiting for the next engine. plus, in a light force, you have a variety of tools so if a truck needs an engine or an engine needs a truck, there’s no waiting.
