LA Marathon 2024. How to finish a marathon with a broken foot, the flu, surgery, and a fever.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a video about how to set goals that seem impossible and actually achieve them. This is the story of Roberto Valenzuela's Los Angeles Marathon journey. Running the full marathon with a broken left foot, two weeks after intestinal surgery, the flu, a fever of 101.5, and a giant blister on the left foot. This journey took Roberto Valenzuela from 227 lbs to 174 lbs. in a little over a year.

What an amazing story Roberto. A lot of times we search for excuses to not do things that are uncomfortable or even challenging, whether consciously or unconsciously. And I can definitely include myself doing that too often though luckily not always. This is a great example of what is possible if we keep pushing and not let these voices in our minds telling us „you can’t do this, you’ll never make it, it’s way too much and too tough“ take over!

Hey Ralf, that's right, man. So much of what we don't do or achieve is totally on our minds, that's it. We can change that.

Roberto!!! UNREAL!!! I can't believe you put yourself through all that. It's hard to believe but the reality is that with Courage, Strength (both mental and physical), Willpower and Passion, you can accomplish anything. Thank you for sharing this amazing and inspiring story. Definitely an admirable feat. God Bless you and your family.

Luis, it's crazy what we do for our children isn't it? You can do things you never thought possible.

Thank you for sharing this. It's more than setting goals, but following through, even when it's much more difficult than expected. You definitely got out of your comfort zone on this one, both mentally, and especially physically.

Amazing story Roberto! The good Lord was watching over your son and your family. That's the truth. I saw you posting on Instagram training and thought what else can this guy do. I've followed your photography journey since Creative Live. I've learned a lot from this story to take little steps to reach goals and don't give up. I like comfort too much. How long did it take for you to heal from all of your issues with the flu, blister, and surgery issues? Your wife and kids I'm sure are very proud of you! Runners World needs to do a story on you.

This is such a nice message! Thank you so much! I had a hell of a time finishing this marathon, but it is still crazy to me how your mind can make you or break you during the most challenging times. I'm feeling better now. It took almost another week after the Marathon to feel better. Thx for watching!

What a beautiful testimony of a father’s love for his children. I can’t help to tie in the parallels going into Holy Week the immense love and sacrifice our Heavenly Father has for all of His children. To be loved so immensely and capable of loving others just as much is a beautiful gift. Thank you for sharing your story.
