    I tried these lights out for a bit. I had several observations which I found unsuitable so I returned them. The Mount- The mounting strap on the battery won't hold any more weight than the optics- and not great at that. Prob not a big surprise. The softbox mount adapter (Bowens in my case) was not sturdy enough to hold up a 36" softbox. The Bowens mount adapter has an umbrella slot which would be great- but the speedring blocks part of it so I couldn't mount my softbox. It looks like this adapter has been discontinued so hopefully they will be releasing a better version. The Bowens mount adapter was $100 and the umbrella/stand adapter was $60- so I was looking at another $160 per light before adding any gels, barn doors, etc. Power- in it's highest capacity (using external 100W USB power source, on flash mode) with my 36" softbox, (Buff Octa), at about 36" from subject- I was getting around f/4, 1/200, @ ISO 800. I was really hoping for more. Even shooting at f/2- yould be at ISO 400. Sure that's through a softbox but most folks will use that more than the manufacturer optics.

    David, wow, this is an extremely helpful comment! Thank you so much for writing it. I’m going to run my own test on the weight of softboles and the setting you were getting through a soft box. But no light is perfect right. However, I know they are working on a new mount that could carry a heavier soft box. Just fyi. Thank you again!

    Not many knows this, but you can use external battery source for Canon flashes and it helps with recycle speed tremendously and also the power levels.

    Roberto, I also found a 100 watt USB-C PD battery bank that is less bulky and will be more efficient than plugging into an AC converter.

    I wish they would make a Profoto adaptor that works with regular Profoto speed rings. The one they have is only made for OCF speed rings.

    I'm sure that's coming. But the OCF lineup is much lighter and portable. Better for this kind of light.

  • @RobertoValenzuela

    @RobertoValenzuela

    These are more effective in constant light form. They can go up to 9,000 lumens. Their flash (strobe) use is much more effective indoors. There is no clear comparison with B series lights from Profoto. Two very different lights.

    @@gregshawphotography8828 I wouldn’t compare them at all. The Reflex lights are mainly a powerful. It very portable led light system at its core. The A and B Profoto systems are mainly a strobe light.

    @@RobertoValenzuela lol I understand. Hey is there a reason why you don’t use Godox? Is it bc you’re a Profoto ambassador? I mean they have lights for everyone. 70 watts of light all the way to 1200 watts which are all very budget-friendly and just as effective as Profoto since “light is light.”

    @@joes2828 Hi Joe, Light is light, yes. Completely agree. But having taught 7 years of lighting classes, I have seen those Godox flashes bust, overheat, burn, or just malfunction way too many times due to the lower-priced electronics inside. I think they are a great option to get into lighting without spending so much money, and they do an amazing job with their price point. But for me, I can't afford to have a light malfunction during a campaign or a client shoot. The affordable price comes at a price if you know what I mean. I hope that helps.

    I bought this piece of crap and I regret it. It’s so expensive for nothing. 9000 lumens from an LED lamp is about 100w, or the equivalent of a Godox AD100 or a common Speedlight. It’s weak, especially with its base battery power, it’s only 66 watts. I have this damn thing 4 feet from a person sitting in front of a window backlight by the mid day light, and it’s barely a glow on their face. It’s hard to even tell the thing is on in my shots. The price is crazy! And it malfunctions so much! If you turn it off after intense use and try to use again, even thought the battery pack is rated for several hours, after 5 minutes of use it wouldn’t turn back on. It gets stuck loading the boot animation. Then it wouldnt pair😮 to my Godox trigger/controller. I’m pissed off I spent $900 of this shit. I bought it several months ago and only used it a few times, never as an off camera flash, which I just tested today for a shoot tomorrow and I can’t stand how ripped off I was without realizing. I could have bought a strobe and a constant light for $900.

    I'm sorry to hear that! I have had the complete opposite experience with these lights. Like most photography equipment, there is a time and place for our equipment. A Reflex S LED light is never going to work like a strobe or should it be compared to a strobe, because it's not a strobe. These lights work great indoors but not so well outdoors because LED lights this size just can't compete with the son. The portability of these lights is a huge factor on their purpose. I bring three of them in my camera bag to all of my shoots because they are tiny and for their size, very powerful. 9,000 lumens can do crazy things indoors. I did a photoshoot of Miss Universe only using these Reflex S lights on a night shoot. They were so easy to use and portable. The best part for me is their ability to lower the constant LED light to minimum power so you don't blind your subject and fire them as a digital burst at full power. This is what I did with Miss Universe, and she really appreciated not being blinded by powerful LED lights at night. I bet you will change your mind if you spend some time with me using these lights. Check out my night shoot here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqCIsraQnKvFqLQ.html. Let me know what you think. Thank you for your comment and I hope you give them another look with an open mind.
