Congrats on being sober! I also got off that shit around then. It was tough but my life couldn’t be better now. I definitely agree with you though social anxiety and depression are gone once you get your fix. When you don’t have it then you feel five times as anxious and depressed. I don’t miss that shit.

@@chriszhlybear4139 I was lucky enough I got clean pretty much right before the fentanyl crisis really hit my city bad. If you got sober at around the same time, your experience might be similar. It's shocking - and heartbreaking - to see how much shit has changed in 8 years. When I used to buy "dope", it usually was a brown/tan powder that usually was heroin cut with something (tar heroin isnt common in Ontario, it was always powder) - But now, when people buy dope, it's this weird purple playdoh looking shit that's usually fentanyl (or an analogue like carfentanyl). That shit is tearing apart the community - these days, I hear about a new old friend or aquaintence dying of overdose damn near monthly. It's to the point where im almost afraid to ask about old friends i know still use if i havent heard from them in a while. And of course, it's all the product of prohibition. Something needs to be done asap - addiction is a public health issue, not a criminal one.

Not to be a dick but any time I bought drugs and it’s didn’t look like the drugs I’m trying to buy, I didn’t buy them. I get that addiction makes you do dumb shit but come on now, have some standards. It’s literally life or death.

@@TheLokiBizThat’s true, it’s a problem with prohibition and illegal manufacture of the otherwise much safer substance. It has been shown to be the same with alcohol and other things like weapons too. When you ban the legal and legitimate version you get an uncontrollable proliferation of dangerous illegal and knock off versions. Sell people a well made version of what they intended to buy and the deaths will be cut down to a fraction of what they are now.

I remember Jim Norton talking about Kurt helping write some jokes for him, which is part of why I figured I should give him a shot. You can definitely understand why Jimmy would like Kurt’s style of comedy and be able to make some of Kurt’s jokes work in his stuff.

I like Kurt Metzger's style of commentary way better than I ever liked Carlin's. Metzger seems like one of the biggest pricks out there, but has never seemed condescending or indifferent.

Reminds me a lot of that joke Louis Ck did in one of his SNL monologues, how we could save a lot of kids lives if society were more forgiving of pedophiles.

I respect this guy a lot, it’s really easy to get laughs out of a charity gala crowd, but this guy was able to manage only forced muffled laughter out of sheer politeness. Awful

I know this is standup, but honestly, thats actually not a bad idea... sure it can go horibly if the addiction holds, but seeing on how people are hooked on medication and other legal stuff, but still feel like shit... honestly, i would actually like to see how that would go

I actually recommended trying heroin to my suicidal friend. He didn't really like the suggestion. Joke's on me, though: I was the one who became the junkie

It is funny. And the fact that it upsets you shows exactly why the joke works. I'm sorry that you're offended, I know you have the right intentions behind feeling that way. But it's humorous in the way that there is an odd truth to it. A kid may actually love heroin so much that they'll opt out of suicide to keep doing it. Of course he doesn't think that it's a practical solution...that's the 'joking' part. Obviously it's just offsetting the issues the kid already has, or simply adding new ones. He's aware of that but sees the humor in proposing a horrible solution to temporarily fend off the worst possible scenario, that being the kid killing themself.
