What was really sad was when she was paying homage to Bob Dylan, she had said that it was his music that had kept her alive growing up. When the showed her in rehearsal, she sounded like an angel singing... humble and meek... and then the audience did that to her. Thank God, Kris was there. He handled it right. A crowd of that many... a BOB DYLAN crowd--- and they were willing to stone her... nobody but Kris came to her defense. WOW.

Why is it still apparently OK for a lot of people, including a large swathe of the media, to refer to someone who has a history of severe mental illness as 'batty' or 'mental'? Her defiance in the full clip of the Bob Dylan Tribute incident puts chills down my back every time. She had more guts than every single person in that audience combined.

People tend to just see and react to the surface, they aren't bothered to investigate the backstory. Sinead is a very intelligent girl who worked all her life to help the abused, underpriveliged and forgotten. Years after her pope picture tearing, it has been proved time and time again the child abuse of thousands over the years who are only now having the courage to come forward. She was trying to tell us that the pope knew and was blaming him for burying it in the name of protecting the church instead of protecting the children.

Interestingly, Kris was almost booed completely off the stage in the U.K. in 1970 @ Isle Of Wight Festival. Probably gave him some compassion over that crowd reaction!

Kris was part of The Highwaymen, the best group ever. Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings were the other 4.

Sinead O'connor is her own person, she shaved her cause she good not deal with her hair,,. She never accused her father of anything of the sort. Sinead is a very spiritual person, and she was ordained a priest. Sinead got where is because of her talent, song writing , her voice , her beauty, and her stage presence. Just seen Sinead in NY in July, she rocked the house, and still has it.

@nooyawker377 They shouldn't take it personal. It's the abusers of authority she stood up to, not the people.

@nooyawker377 You're not seriously offended and overexaming the use of the word "bastards" by Kristofferson are you? He could have said anything at that moment. The point was to comfort her. He had been in the business a long time by the early 90s and probably felt a little protective like a dad would.

I always loved Kris Kristofferson. And I love Sinéad O'Connor as well. I remember that day at the madison. Poor people, they didn't understand her. She was fighting against the abuses of the catholic church, meanwhile the president of this people was George Bush... I'm from Argentina and I know Pope Francis, I hope he could change what she was fighting for.

@nooyawker377 For the record, not just the U.S. anthem, but any country's national anthem preceding her performance. She explained that she did want to be seen as endorsing any government's politics or giving comfort to nationalism, which is how she viewed the national anthems of many countries. Because this applied to other countries, it would not be fair to interpret this as a slight against the U.S. exclusively.

I have seen Sinead speaking about this incident, and her version of it is somewhat different! She says he came over and asked her to apologize! I can see why he might lie about it though, all these years later Im sure he can see how that would have been a real shit thing to say!

Sineads motives, however radical were honest but you certainly don't help the people your trying to protect by acting the fool. Kris Krisofferson was saw an opportunity to play up to this little free love type hippie girl by playing the hero. Totally plastic.

Dude... he doesn't get it, neither does she. "booing that lil girl"? C'mon... She's not a lil girl, and she's trying to start all types of shit against the pope! And doing it at concerts meant to pay tribute to Dylan, for ppl to enjoy themselves... The Pope means a lot to a lot of ppl. If she doesn't understand that, she's not smart enough to start the movement she's tryin' to start. If she was any smarter, she'd just say, "I understand how you guys feel, but can you pls just let me sing?"

why are people "bastards" for letting her know how they felt about her ripping up a picture of the pope. It is also important to remember that was not long after she banned the playing of the american national anthem at one of her concerts as well.
