Mick Jagger about Bob Dylan's voice.

Музыка

This is from a Dutch interview. When the interviewer critices Bob Dylan's voice, Jagger stands up and explains what he likes about His Bobness' voice.
I do not own the rights for this.

I hope Mr. Jagger returns to acting. I haven't seen him act in a film since 2001's 'The Man From Elysian Fields' but like Sting and the late David Bowie he has a natural flair for acting, and his partner in crime Keith Richards was brilliant as Captain Teague, father of Jack Sparrow, and the originator of the convenient 'explanation' for anything out of the ordinary 'Sea Turtles mate' 🐢🙂😄

@@Gogs126 I agree. Mick handles it cool and like a grownup. As for the idea that the lady is "rude," I don't think so. It's extremely difficult territory to be discussing vocal quality with a singer, especially as it relates to what happens to a voice when it gets older. But it is a legitimate journalistic inquiry, and hearing a singer's response to the question can be revealing -- about how they recognize and deal with it. Yes, she did interrupt him, but perhaps she was nervous about making that point. At some level, it took some balls for her to "go there." And let's face it: The youthful voices of pop artists are what sells their records. Would you have bought a Stones album in the '60s if it were a 70-year-old Jagger voice in the lead?

You just answered your own question. It's really hard to have a hot and contentious argument, between two people, when obviously, they're both right. The last time I saw Mick Jagger and The Stones live, was over 20 years ago. Mick was both glorious (skilled, prepared, w/perfect execution.) And pathetic. (skilled, prepared, w/perfect execution) Thankfully in very unequal measure. Whatever it is about live performance, that can make some old man look pathetic, while playing the music of the young man, was ALWAYS on display. It's only the focus on the question, as to why they feel the need to perform, that grows old along with them. The listening public NEEDS to listen to such performers. Such performers NEED to be heard. It's why all the greats had such an ear about them. It's also what provides a critic like this the time to have a momentary lapse of reason. In which the critic can feel (pretend) that they are on an equal plain, with their subject. Which will lead us back to, do-re-mi. She was obviously oblivious to the fact, that she was just in danger, by "eating eggs in Sammy's" there. Have mercy, Michael.

I'm 46, and only recently, (in the past 15 years) have started to get into Dylan. And I can say his lyrics and the way he delivers them.....are pretty damn close to godlike. He can reduce me to a tearful lump of mush or make me angry and obstinate. He has full control of what I feel when he sings. I can honestly say no other artist can do that. Even my all time favs. There will only ever be one Bob Dylan, no matter who comes along to be the next Bob Dylan.

Jagger is a Class Act. Not only does he still want to sing, but many millions of people still want to hear him sing. He's actually a very disciplined artist and athlete. That's the only way really. Look up the video of him speaking fluent French in an interview.

It was Dylan's voice that was something of an obstacle to overcome and prevented me from getting into his music until the early 90's. It was an all-star tribute concert that caused me to re-evaluate my opinions. When I heard Eddie Vedder sing Masters of War it blew me away. I immediately went out and bought Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. From that point on I was a fan. Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to see him live. I agree that his voice is really ragged. Sometimes it suits the song. His album Tempest is amazing. Roll on John never fails to make me tear up.
