Krieghoff Know How - Cleaning the Barrels and Choke Tubes

Спорт

Keeping the Barrels and Choke Tubes clean is an important job. This should ideally be done after each session. We run through some key points and steps to help keep your K-80 in good working order.
We cover, cleaning the choke tubes. This involves removing them from the barrels, cleaning the choke threads and the inner threads of the barrels, greasing the chokes and refitting them back into the barrels.
We also go through steps for the most common and traditional method of cleaning the bores with a cleaning rod. Plus we give you a helpful tip to remove stubborn plastic or lead deposits left in the barrel with some rifle bore cleaning solvent.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using any rifle bore cleaning solvent such as the one used in this video, make sure you clean away all signs of it before putting the gun back together. If this gets in contact with the action, forearm iron or trigger, it can damage the finish, as it's designed to remove nickel and copper.
We also show you where to grease your barrels before putting them back onto the action. These areas are exposed to friction and wear, so it's a good idea to keep everything lubricated.
We hope this video helps you keep your gun in good condition and if you have any questions, please contact us or leave a comment below.

I use a brass round brush attached to a rod and then using my drill on SLOW speed, scour the inside of the choke tube. Solvent during this process helps. Really helps to remove the buildup which if not removed will obviously change the choke characteristics.

I have to clean my choke tubes about every 200 rounds to prevent excessive plastic buildup. Often the I have to put a bronze or copper cleaning brush in a cleaning rod, and insert it into a drill driver to get the plastic crud out. I sure wish the was a solvent to do this.

We supply tools and accessories for Krieghoff to the UK. If you're outside of the UK, you may have to locate a Krieghoff dealer or distributor near to you. Where are you based and I can point you in the right direction?

I think I have a little carbon buildup at the at the back of the choke before the threads? Do you still suggest toothbrush or should I use a smaller gauge bronze brush to remove carbon.?

Look up Ed's red on the internet- Used this solvent for all of my firearms and will never have to buy another solvent again.. Perfect for the barrels, plastic wadding will never be a problem again.. 1qt. automatic transmission (non detergent) fluid, 1qt. kerosene, 1qt mineral spirits, 1qt acetone - makes a gallon and will clean any bore without damage.. keep it away from any finished wood,, barrel only... Enjoy

Btw, can't clean tubes like he cleans the barrels if you have custom tubes for skeet. Don't need that much grease either. Little dab'l do ya. Like Brill Cream!

He missed the fact to store your gun barrels down so the oils don't stain the wood
