    I remember when Kreator came to the states for the first time in 87, my mother wouldn't let me go as I was only 15. I had to lie and tell her I was sleeping over a friend's house. hahahaha! They played with Voivod! When they came back the next year, somehow 16 was now old enough. I had that concert shirt you held up. Though, it fit me like a tunic :) They didn't make girls shirts back then. Interestingly enough, they played with DRI and...... Holy Terror!!! When they came back in 89, they played with Coroner! I saw them one more time in 91, but I don't remember with who, because obviously it wasn't important. I'm so glad I was a teen in the 80's and got to live through all that. Especially in NY, as the euro bands quite often would come over and play the NE without touring the rest of the states. So many bigger cities so close together, not much traveling between shows. Which means you could see a band several nights in a row and only drive an hour or two to get there. Unlike now, where I have to drive 5 hours! I still do it for my favorites though.

    My first album was Pleasure to Kill - yes, savagery abounds. Saw them live with Renewal (I like the sound and the songs as well). Even musically, they have done enough to deserve the highest praise and respect. Excellent call as always!

    I saw the Kreator/Death 1990 tour at Bristol Bierkeller. A lot of us had travelled up from Plymouth to hopefully finally see Death. We had previously gone to see them at London Marquee which was part of the last cancelled tour. The stand in members did a decent enough job but Kreator were on fire. I love Renewal, it has a Prong, Killing Joke sound to it for me. Cause for Conflict is a decent record. I like all of Kreators releases but I agree they don't vary much in sound. I saw them again at Bristol Bierkeller in 2003 i think and there wasn't as many people as 1990.

    @@AlanAverillNemtheanga Fair enough.. We could do a part 1 (“classics”) & maybe part 2 (second era). Cuz it would really be a shame not discussing Beastial .., Morbid .., Schizophrenia , Beneath …, Arise etc... I’m not really familiar with the “newer” releases. You’re the boss though 😅.

    I went to that Kreator/fake Death tour in London and i got my Leprosy pic disc signed in a record store signing, the gig got cancelled so i never got to see them, I got to see Destruction in 89 though and they kicked spotty arse, i had all that vinyl up to and including 'Extreme Aggression'' (bar that pic disc) those sparked some memories including painting that 12'' demon head cover on my skateboard, going to have to go and track down a few of those early cds i'm misssing

    'Pleasure to Kill' is for me the only album that could rival 'Master of Puppets' and 'Reign in Blood' back in 1986, and easily my favorite Kreator album.. I mean, my favorite death/thrash band of all time, Ripping Corpse, took their name from that album, which sort of says it all... 🤗🤘👌

    I discovered Kreator with Renewal, really loved it and especially that post apocalyptic industrial Atmosphere on it. After that i discovered the old Albums and i got why People disliked renewal. But it aged very well, better than Albums from other Bands that put industrial in their music at that time.

  • @roystenvasey
    @roystenvasey5 ай бұрын

    Couldn't agree more re Renewal. First few listens were horrible for someone who was into what went before but at some point the penny dropped. It's a very angry, despondent album. I think Chaos A.D has a similar rage but of course a less alien sound.

    When I bought renewal from poor aul Sid (rip) in the soundcellar and brought it home I actually thought he gave me the wrong record. I hated it. But like you say......a few listens in and I loved it. Its definitely my most played kreator record these days. Like Alan said, that drum sound is fantastic.

    @AlanAverill666 I've thought about that for the last hour and I can't give you an answer on it. Hardcore is the closest I can think of but it's definitely a very unique sound to this record. Nothing like it to my mind and that goes for the change in vocal sound too. It's a unique masterpiece to me. Unlike endorama which I know you don't mind/kinda like but I really don't like it. Cause for conflict the same. Its a terrible album as you said.

    @@AlanAverillNemtheanga Id say Killing Joke and Voivod. maybe even some Black Flag ? Kreator had a very similar development to Morgoth in that sense: dirty raging thrash that honed into a well styled extreme metal variant, to later blend in some hardcore and industrial. In that aspect I always respected Cause for Conflict and Outcast as well, adding a more heavy personal/emotional element such as "Black Sunrise". I saw them on that tour and Kreator was seriously vicious but with that deeper heavy stuff it really gained a dynamic. It added a new depth to their repetoire. Endorama was a step too far though 😁. But I can never knock a band for honest creative development. Theres no integrity in repeating the same jig because thats the stuff that makes you populair. That said, there is a line of good taste. St. Anger anyone ?

    Not sure about that really....starting in 82 they were around before most US thrash, same with Sodom. Maybe the Europeans bands are often less technical with harder singing, more extreme on some level, more raw but this is the selling point for me! I would much rather Kreator that Testament any day

    @@AlanAverillNemtheanga Thats only my opinion. No worries man. I guess that because of characteristic riff building and song structure. BTW: The last album that matters for me it's a Violent Revolution. It shows how important is a right track order on the playlist. I love that false begining with Reconquer The Throne and say sth like: hello boys, we are back and we will take whats ours. And after that song it's a intro and the rest of album.
